Defining “violence” as doing harm or willing creating suffering, my position that violence is not a bad thing comes from my position that suffering is not a bad thing. I do believe that there is a “proper order” to things and that we should avoid unnecessary suffering, but I see trying to avoid all suffering as creating more harm than embracing suffering as another aspect of life.
My philosophy of violence when it comes to persons in specific is only using it to stop violence, by that I mean stopping people force to coerce someone or go against their consent.

Exploring deeply into this topic showed me things I didn't expect. Even if you were a non violent pacifist.
For instance, would you allow people you love to be injured or killed if crazed fools attacked? Probably not. If they were trying to kill, you would have to stop them immediately and permanently in this situation. So defensive violence and even killing is acceptable and understandable sometimes. So, now what happens when our successful defense has left one person dead and two more in hospital and his family and friends are attacking again for revenge, and what they would perceive as justice! Now a conflagration of violence begins with all parties believing they are in the right! Any violence can quickly escalate it seems. Every violent attack feels justified by every attacker. We need to understand that. The bad guy is ALWAYS the other guy! Real martial arts is learning the kata of living in such a way that violence is avoided before it even happens. This is the ultimate block from all attacks. ✌🏻🧡
