Thanks for the how to. Good looking Lantern
Thanks for watching 👍
Ken- That came out fantastic! Looks awesome now…. 😃👍
Thanks and now I actually think it’s too nice to leave outside after all 😂
I recenty cleaned an Embury Air Pilot #1 that had most of it's paint, some rust and some carbon deposits. I used Sea Foam cleaner/lubricant spray. Mostly because it was the first can I found in the garage. It did a wonderful job. Soak it down and leave it set on a shop rag for a day, wipe it down with the soggy rag later.
Sounds like it did a great job 👍
Nice clean up Ken. The how to videos are really helpful...
Thanks so much 👍
Turned out really well. It’s in very good condition considering it’s age. The Dietz are rare enough in Ireland but I managed to get a couple. I think the collector market is growing as it’s getting harder to find them.
Very true I agree and also noticed that prices have gone up considerably on lanterns also but I guess that is what makes the ones that we have more special and dear to our hearts 👍
Ken, that super clean works great! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching I appreciate it 👍
Great stuff Ken. Wow that cleaned up sweet! Good idea using the ac fan.
Thanks 👍 it’s a pretty good trick for drying them.
Mine is just like that, but the bail on top is thicker wire and round, without the indented part in the middle. My grandfather told me it was a very old lamp in 1964, been in regular use over the decades, had to patch up fuel leaks with JB Weld.
Great history to that lantern thanks for sharing and enjoy it 👍
Nice lamp and vid Ken , we have none of these in Belgium unfortunately. Have a great day
Thanks and don’t give up on finding one I have been getting some lanterns here lately that I thought would probably never see either but sometimes they just show up 👍
@@lotsatrains That's so true :)
I need to get me some of that super clean, is it like simple green? Your Lantern turned out very nice Ken !
I think it’s quite stronger than simple green but I definitely like it 👍
@@lotsatrains thanks Ken ! I'm going to look for some
@@steveyoung9951 I got it at my local Lowes recently and do believe Wal Mart carries it also
@@lotsatrains I will check them out 😃
Very nice, I have a D- lite with a red globe and down here in Delaware they are around $60/$80+ in the junk shops , prices have gotten a bit ridiculous lately, guess I need to look up north
Yes prices definitely have gone up but sometimes at flea markets or yard sales you can still get a bargain 👍
I would not take $200 for mine. I love it because it has taken good care of me over the years, was my porch light for 2 decades. Kerosene still cheaper than incandescent bulbs. Not as new looking as this one.
@@gsp49 yes 👍
@@gsp49 they’re like an old friend !
Wow that Dietz D-lite lantern ever cleaned up very good Ken! 👍 Lantern looks fantastic too & burns very nice too with a great flame! 🙂 Love the gazebo you have!👍 Yup when it gets dark, it’s lantern time!👍👍
Thanks so much 👍
@@lotsatrains You are welcome Ken!🙂🙂
What's the brightest lantern I can buy? Brand and model
It’s hard to be specific about brightness because most lanterns have kind of their own personality but if you get hold of an old rayo or Pritchard strong cold blast number 2 sized lantern that takes a 1 inch wide wick it’s going to pump out some awesome light 👍
That came out really nice! A noob here. What kind of seal does the tank cap have? When cleaning mine up I noticed that there is no tank cap seal and the cap doesn't tighten very well. Thanks, Bill
It’s actually just a piece of cork gasket on the underside of the cap and a lot of times they just rot or fall out maybe that’s what happened to the one that you have but you could try putting a small O ring in with some silicone sealer to hold it but would have to investigate getting the right size because it would have to be a pretty small thin one.
@@lotsatrains Thanks a bunch for the reply. I may have some automotive gasket material that I could use. Another fun experiment to try. Thanks again, Bill
@@Yellow.Dog. yes that sounds like a great choice also 👍
