I won't break down every detail of the mv's cause I'll end up typing an entire novel. But basically Ditto shows the parasocial aspect that fandoms have with idols. Ban Heesoo( the girl with the cast, also a play on words Ban Heesoo is "bunnies" in Korean, their fandom name) is confronted with having to let go of her parasocial relationship with NewJeans and move on with her life. And with OMG, it's the opposite. Idols tend to lose their identity trying to please their fans, often forgetting who they are. And with How Sweet, it just showed different pov's throughout the MV. But there's an underlying thing in that mv that I feel is directed at their parent label. On a side note, it sounds like you have a good hold of what's going on with them legally. Please don't let all misinformation floating around get you into thinking that NewJeans is done with. The facts are, they terminated their contract with Ador, and they may or may not be able to use the NewJeans name again. But they will fight for the IP rights. There's a lot of haters spreading misinformation out there, so I really suggest just waiting to see what happens and try not to read too far into all of this. Just enjoy their music and continue to support them. That's the best we can all do. Thank you for reacting to them!
So a bit of your confusion is because Ditto & OMG are from their Mini EP (OMG) the 3 video are connected and culminate w/OMG , which then circles back to their debut EP. Bubble Gum & How Sweet are feom rhus years releases. You still have their 2023 EP (Get Up) all the MVs are awesome. Not sure if you have already seen , An Unhelpful Guide to New Jeans (2024). Good watch as well.
"Bubble Gum" is City Pop (Japan ca.1980s). More recent NewJeans releases is one of the main reasons it's coming back. Supernatural had City Pop vibes as well. Always love your reactions. I'm wishing and hoping you'll get into K-pop soloists soon, such as Bibi (must see) and Jessi and YooA, some time soon.
