On the full light blocker, oddly I've not been bothered by the bottom being open. My brain just ignores it. I actually kind of like it because it allows me to more easily see things outside VR when I want. Maybe they postponed production so people would realize they don't really need it. @@TheMysticle the lightblocker noseflaps on your vr cover are removable. That may give you some idea what it may be like... though the pieces are somewhat difficult to reattach. It's essentially silicone knobs that sqeeze through a tiny apeture
Yea, I thought for sure I would hate having the bottom open, but...i just...don't. Perhaps it's because the lenses are a lot closer to my eyes than with the Quest 2. Not sure. Perhaps on a buyer's high (or self-delusion to justify the cost!)
It’s actually crazy how far quest’s hand tracking has gone, from barely being able to track if you moved it a little too fast to being able to track Your hands from just a sliver of your hand showing
I think maybe the drop in money is because there’s no new headset, I think everyone who wanted the Q2 got one and now it’s just slow sales, I believe when the Q3 comes out it’ll bounce right back

Investors are humans, and they are risk aversive. Meta is a huge risk for facebook, a generic ceo can probably do fine getting 3-4% annual profit for its investors, however, this is more all or nothing. Either the company increases by 300% or decreases by 90%. While that sounds worth it for Zuckerburg, investors hate that sort of investment. He has to power this through though because in the long run its worth it. Also, Zuckerburg knows better what people want than what people think they want. I myself look at VR now for msfs and dcs. Don't give a fuck about the metaverse, but i do recognise that with current technology, we could already remove the need for laptops. That's a game changer, though it is still in the alpha/stage of production. Not even on roll-out, let alone consumer affordable. It is the long game, but he knows that the long game is worth it.
Man I kind of regret getting into VR gaming. It was fun for a while, but the games library is sooooo damn bad. I expected more games like Alyx, but we don't get anything like this.
bro I'm so sad right now I factory reset my headset because the controllers weren't working and the headset was not showing up in the app and vrchat was like the only game i played and I was hopping for vrchat hand tracking so I could play with my friends and only a week after I cant use my headset vrchat hand tracking comes out. and I would just set up my headset again but I need controllers to do that and I dont have them.
Meta needs to get finger tracking working on PCVR Link at the very least. Quest 2 is awesome but I don't want to be held back by performance on standalone hardware.
It already works in virtual desktop. I even had it (sort of) track my hands in assetto corsa. Think it's mostly on gamedevs to implement this , though with Meta officially supporting it that might happen more.

Zuck is the champ. I've never been his biggest fan but I respect what he's trying to do within the vr space. In due time, I truly belive he'll have the last laugh if he doesn't give up. He's a huge win for vr imo.
His company's efforts in VR tech is... commendable. But he himself is a scumbag, especially when Meta was still Facebook. Don't let your love for the Quest or even the Quest Pro be confused for praising him. The Oculus team who got gobbled up by FB should be praised. Not the douche who sold your data to get the money to make himself the king of the "metaverse".
Meta is really hurting atm though and a big part of that is all the money they're losing on VR. Zuck needs to be careful cuz he might start the VR revolution but if Meta keeps going the way they are he/they might not be around to reap the rewards. I think people will sometimes use the finger tracking but sadly the quest tracking will never be “great” but I’m still excited to see the people use it especially the people who need it to communicate.

Got to try a Quest Pro today. The clarity, colors, blacks, FoV, and controllers all feel so much better to me that its worth the price. Can't afford one atm, but if I could if buy one in a heartbeat! The passthrough was meh but then idc about that at all tbh.
Regarding the light blocker...the Quest Pro was meant to have that more open design as it's designed more with AR in mind, it's meant to make it feel more seamless as if you're looking through a window, and the IRL environment kind of blends into it.
Quest pro is 🔥. It's not perfect but if you can afford it, it's a million times better than quest 2. I tried putting my quest 2 on again and it felt like such a step down
I've been testing the hand tracking on VRChat on my Quest 2, and honestly it looks really promising! I probably need to clean my headset, so good thing I have lens wipes, but the tracking is shaky, I wonder if they're using the most up-to-date version of hand tracking. Fast movements also are very hard to do because the tracking can't keep up, hopefully this can be solved sometime in the near future. And just like the hand tracking in the Oculus home, you have to move your whole arm to aim, so when sitting down, It's really uncomfortable when you have to put your whole are down where your sitting and literally press against it just to make an input. I would love to see hand rotation for aiming with your wrist. The VRChat menu (Launchpad & Main Menu) can't be moved, so once again, putting your arm in some uncomfortable positions. Now this may or may not be avatar limitation, but for those who can *really* stretch their fingers like me (I can make my thumb and pinky form somewhat of 180° Line) the avatar can't pick up on it. Same with moving your wrist, pitching it 89° is fine, but 90° is too much for it to handle. Also is it just me or does the beta version of VRChat have redder reds? It's honestly screwing with me.
Once you actually use the Quest Pro I agree with most reviewers that say the included light blockers are generally enough and most people so far prefer than or no blockers at all. Not something I would have expected but I have to agree.
ya my issue with those sound pro earbuds is that it doesn't work with the bobo vr battery pack. Totally a waste of 100 dollars :( Kinda sad every youtube is advertising these things, it makes me question the validity of their entire video lol.

About the body tracking thing. I am completely stumped as to why they wouldn’t at least include it in the quest pro, since the cameras they would use to read your lips for face tracking could be used for body tracking, or at least help make a more accurate prediction if the IK is what they are going for. They have the technology and the ability to do it but refuse to 😪
30ms is a horrible latency. You’re talking about half the time an internet packet take to travel between middle east and europe. Why would u promote such a crappy product on a channel that is meant for tech savvy ppl?
Bro even played Beat Saber with it 💀 But with all seriousness 30ms latency is bad for just about anything. It's even the lowest that Virtual Desktop can go but it's still bad in fast-paced games and VR needs less than 20ms to get full presence.
The lack of the full light blocker actually makes the headset more comfortable for long-term use, and really I don't even mind that bare headset without the side blockers. The immersion is so good you quickly get used to it. Maybe it's because I use a HoloLens 2 as well and it is similar.
NO! OCULUS made the Quest 1. Facebook ate that company and made Quest 2. Facebook and Zucc's success comes from other people's ideas. The Metaverse fails because that's Mark's own idea!
On the quest pro, I expected the light coming from below be a huge distraction, but it’s really not bothering me at all, which I found surprising. The clarity is awesome, but It’s causing me a lot of eye strain. I have it set up perfectly, my IPD, the fit is all good, but I can’t wear it for more than an hour until my eyes hurt. I’m not new to VR, the rift CV1, the OG quest and even the Go with it’s fixed ipd of 63mm ( I have 70) didn’t strain my eyes like that. I have it only since 3 days now. Hope it goes away otherwise I’ll have to return it.
But will it work with fcsl ? And csl a lot can be Lost in Translation between asl and csl when you get into the Canadian language. This becomes especially evident when you factor in words that are completely Canadian like Tim Hortons hockey, stick, Abu, a whole slew of French words that only exist in French Canada! All of which have their own unique sign gestures.
I Was mad when Facebook Bought Oculus but with time I changed my approach to Facebook/Meta and I have two headsets from them and I have to say that Meta did amazing Job with everything around Vr but their Metaverse is not fun at the moment basicaly RecRoom just smash it without even trying. Meta Metaverse should be delayed until will look more like a good product. I hope they will continue to deliver great products and have bright future.
It's quite easy to understand why Quest 2 sells are dropping: 1. After 2 years most people interested already bought it 2. The price increase by $100 3. There is now a better hardware alternative Pico 4
I agree that they need to try to power through. My biggest gripe remains their paternalistic approach. It's just not an appropriate way to define a principally adult platform. This is what is killing Horizons. It should be entirely obvious that treating adults, particularly young adults in such a condescending manner is going to create resentment. Advertising it as a "safe" virtual space is just stupid, they don't appear to even realize they are being bated? Adventurous people are not going to find this so called "safe" space at all attractive and no one else is using VR yet, it's still too early for that. It'll likely be a while before VR becomes popular enough to even need to appeal to the mainstream demographic. Even then being an immersive medium it will require content that is viscerally stimulating. There is need for a broader spectrum of content but "safe" or sedate content will have to have powerful emotional appeal and they are clearly frightened of anything like that. Look at Hollywood and where they make their money. Gaming is not mainstream. Successful media is sexy, violent, dramatic, comedic, adventurous, always emotionally stimulating in some manner and best when also intellectually stimulating. To gain a mainstream audience requires appealing to everyone. A lot of gamer's complained about Blood and Truth being too choreographed but it was still quite successful by the standards of the platform. It really captured the sense of what it sold itself as. Being the star of your own action movie. I loved it, but I have never really been much of a gamer. In fact the one part I didn't really enjoy was were it became more like a regular game. Like a movie I played it through and then looked for something else like it, but I never found anything. My guess would be that it was an experiment and that it's authors returned to traditional media being that it is the more lucrative.
I got use to just using the side blockers except when watching 360 videos. Regarding those earphones do they charge using the usb port? Don't wanna constantly unplug them to charge and wear out the port.
I want to buy a stand alone, but I'm reluctant to give my money to meta, especially since I've hated Facebook and avoided ever using it and I'm not keen on finally giving my info to Mr. Fuckerburg... but the quest 2 is probably the best bang for your buck in the space, however, I feel like they are on the verge of releasing the next iteration and I'm gonna feel pretty stupid buying the 2 at full price just before the three comes out...

My question is why weren't you one of those contact creators to get a headset from meta for free to test? Some of the contact creators are full of smoke. That they straight up lied and advertised false information the way they spoke about meta pro I'm not knocking it I think it's a great product but I think they exaggerated and didn't speak on any of the issues that are currently having at this particular moment before the major distribution and updates for the device. I feel like the product isn't personally finished. Started selling it and producing it to not get more loss of money. Them charging an extra $50 for a cover that should have come with the product especially at a price tag of $1,500 I think it's dishonest.
Don't know, the vr world just seems so bland as everything i hear is quest quest quest, some vr youtubers could by now just rebrand as quest youtubers. It feeels like no one is innovating anymore and everyone is just settling with the plattform, and settling with proprietary soft and hardware becoming the defacto standard just doesn't sit right with me...
Let me tell you something....The fact that the price for the quest 2 did not drop after this info was released should tell you that Mark is in no way worried about what people are saying about Meta supposedly not doing well. They will get to where they trying to get no matter what any of you are say in your videos. There is no stopping that train. The Metaverse will take time....Rome wasn't built in a day. This is the fastest moving tech that has ever existed and these youtubers act like they want it to go faster. You have to have patience. People think that the Pro is not worth the 15 large......but they fail to realize what that headset will become. The quest 2 is nothing like what it was when it came out. It's almost an entirely new headset. Now if Meta did that with the consumer headset...what do you think they will do for an enterprise one? They are going to take very good care of that one on the updates and I'm glad I got it. By the way...my battery life lasted almost 4 hours. 3 hours and 45 mins.

You were playing one toward the beginning of the clip where there were blocks coming towards you and you had to swat them down. That looked like a good one for the upper body workout. yo i use virtual desktop i can run 120fps on most games the game is smooth but my controllers feel jittery and a little laggy is it cuz virtual desktop is through internet and would oculus link fix it

Gravity Labs should be added to the list of Passthrough games. It's a fantastic game.
ya my issue with those sound pro earbuds is that it doesn't work with the bobo vr battery pack. Totally a waste of 100 dollars :( Kinda sad every youtube is advertising these things, it makes me question the validity of their entire video lol.

About the body tracking thing. I am completely stumped as to why they wouldn’t at least include it in the quest pro, since the cameras they would use to read your lips for face tracking could be used for body tracking, or at least help make a more accurate prediction if the IK is what they are going for. They have the technology and the ability to do it but refuse to 😪
Or maybe they're working on it and it's not ready? They added a ton of features and updates to the quest 1 and 2 after release.

30ms is a horrible latency. You’re talking about half the time an internet packet take to travel between middle east and europe. Why would u promote such a crappy product on a channel that is meant for tech savvy ppl?

But with all seriousness 30ms latency is bad for just about anything. It's even the lowest that Virtual Desktop can go but it's still bad in fast-paced games and VR needs less than 20ms to get full presence.

The lack of the full light blocker actually makes the headset more comfortable for long-term use, and really I don't even mind that bare headset without the side blockers. The immersion is so good you quickly get used to it. Maybe it's because I use a HoloLens 2 as well and it is similar.

On the quest pro, I expected the light coming from below be a huge distraction, but it’s really not bothering me at all, which I found surprising. The clarity is awesome, but It’s causing me a lot of eye strain. I have it set up perfectly, my IPD, the fit is all good, but I can’t wear it for more than an hour until my eyes hurt. I’m not new to VR, the rift CV1, the OG quest and even the Go with it’s fixed ipd of 63mm ( I have 70) didn’t strain my eyes like that. I have it only since 3 days now. Hope it goes away otherwise I’ll have to return it.
But will it work with fcsl ? And csl a lot can be Lost in Translation between asl and csl when you get into the Canadian language. This becomes especially evident when you factor in words that are completely Canadian like Tim Hortons hockey, stick, Abu, a whole slew of French words that only exist in French Canada! All of which have their own unique sign gestures.
I Was mad when Facebook Bought Oculus but with time I changed my approach to Facebook/Meta and I have two headsets from them and I have to say that Meta did amazing Job with everything around Vr but their Metaverse is not fun at the moment basicaly RecRoom just smash it without even trying. Meta Metaverse should be delayed until will look more like a good product. I hope they will continue to deliver great products and have bright future.
The day META wakes up and writes a new OS for its VR...please wake me up....until then I'll dream myself of VROS....
It's quite easy to understand why Quest 2 sells are dropping:
1. After 2 years most people interested already bought it
2. The price increase by $100
3. There is now a better hardware alternative Pico 4

I agree that they need to try to power through.
My biggest gripe remains their paternalistic approach.
It's just not an appropriate way to define a principally adult platform.
This is what is killing Horizons.
It should be entirely obvious that treating adults, particularly young adults in such a condescending manner is going to create resentment.
Advertising it as a "safe" virtual space is just stupid, they don't appear to even realize they are being bated?
Adventurous people are not going to find this so called "safe" space at all attractive and no one else is using VR yet, it's still too early for that.
It'll likely be a while before VR becomes popular enough to even need to appeal to the mainstream demographic.
Even then being an immersive medium it will require content that is viscerally stimulating.
There is need for a broader spectrum of content but "safe" or sedate content will have to have powerful emotional appeal and they are clearly frightened of anything like that.
Look at Hollywood and where they make their money.
Gaming is not mainstream.
Successful media is sexy, violent, dramatic, comedic, adventurous, always emotionally stimulating in some manner and best when also intellectually stimulating.
To gain a mainstream audience requires appealing to everyone.
A lot of gamer's complained about Blood and Truth being too choreographed but it was still quite successful by the standards of the platform.
It really captured the sense of what it sold itself as.

I loved it, but I have never really been much of a gamer. In fact the one part I didn't really enjoy was were it became more like a regular game.
Like a movie I played it through and then looked for something else like it, but I never found anything.
My guess would be that it was an experiment and that it's authors returned to traditional media being that it is the more lucrative.
I got use to just using the side blockers except when watching 360 videos. Regarding those earphones do they charge using the usb port? Don't wanna constantly unplug them to charge and wear out the port.
I want to buy a stand alone, but I'm reluctant to give my money to meta, especially since I've hated Facebook and avoided ever using it and I'm not keen on finally giving my info to Mr. Fuckerburg... but the quest 2 is probably the best bang for your buck in the space, however, I feel like they are on the verge of releasing the next iteration and I'm gonna feel pretty stupid buying the 2 at full price just before the three comes out...
I'm still locked out of my quest two. I got so irritated I just gave up. At this point I'm afraid to invest any more money in VR.
PS. I guess they don't make enough money to just have someone that I can call and talk to you on the phone? No. That would be way too easy.

The quest 2 is honestly overrated. To many bugs, glitches, problems. It’s great and all but comes with many issues/problems later on.
My question is why weren't you one of those contact creators to get a headset from meta for free to test?
Some of the contact creators are full of smoke. That they straight up lied and advertised false information the way they spoke about meta pro I'm not knocking it I think it's a great product but I think they exaggerated and didn't speak on any of the issues that are currently having at this particular moment before the major distribution and updates for the device. I feel like the product isn't personally finished. Started selling it and producing it to not get more loss of money. Them charging an extra $50 for a cover that should have come with the product especially at a price tag of $1,500 I think it's dishonest.
Don't know, the vr world just seems so bland as everything i hear is quest quest quest, some vr youtubers could by now just rebrand as quest youtubers. It feeels like no one is innovating anymore and everyone is just settling with the plattform, and settling with proprietary soft and hardware becoming the defacto standard just doesn't sit right with me...

Let me tell you something....The fact that the price for the quest 2 did not drop after this info was released should tell you that Mark is in no way worried about what people are saying about Meta supposedly not doing well. They will get to where they trying to get no matter what any of you are say in your videos. There is no stopping that train. The Metaverse will take time....Rome wasn't built in a day. This is the fastest moving tech that has ever existed and these youtubers act like they want it to go faster. You have to have patience. People think that the Pro is not worth the 15 large......but they fail to realize what that headset will become. The quest 2 is nothing like what it was when it came out. It's almost an entirely new headset. Now if Meta did that with the consumer headset...what do you think they will do for an enterprise one? They are going to take very good care of that one on the updates and I'm glad I got it. By the way...my battery life lasted almost 4 hours. 3 hours and 45 mins.
Hi Bro, I recently bought Quest 2 with loads of expectations like picture quality will be like same like PC or any other screens , however , the edges are very blurry and only middle of the screen i can see clarity , Is it common for all ,orelse for me, I have tried adjusting ipd nothing helped no scratches or lenses , need ur suggestion pleaseeeee.
Can you list a few good exercise games for us older people? Ones that we can do while sitting down. You were playing one toward the beginning of the clip where there were blocks coming towards you and you had to swat them down. That looked like a good one for the upper body workout. Hand tracking worked for me a few months ago, though i was doing it through steamvr and airlink/link. You just couldnt navigate or turn your camera.

I tried the hand trucking in VR chat and it is freaking ridiculous. It's not perfect by any means but it is leagues above what was available before
I've been playing Cod since I was 12, I'm 27 now... when I started playing vr... my ps4 started collecting dust... im not even interested in the ps5 anymore... vr took over my gaming life... I hope this is the same for others...

yo i use virtual desktop i can run 120fps on most games the game is smooth but my controllers feel jittery and a little laggy is it cuz virtual desktop is through internet and would oculus link fix it
Soundcore has up to 30ms latency. that is way too much for gaming imho. surely its better than 300ms. but its not 3ms.
