I follow a 63 year old woman here who has been micro blading for a couple of years, and her facial hair has never grown back thick, dark, and stubbly. When she wants to, she can forego the shaving, and live with the same level of peach fuzz she had before she started. Her skin GLOWS.

I don’t understand the point of saying don’t shave you need these hairs but then to tell people to laser them off instead. Or saying that it causes micro cuts but then say to use scrubs which can also cause micro cuts in the skin. I saw you recommended a coffee ground scrub as a gentle alternative. How is ground up coffee beans gentle? Just like a walnut scrub the bean/shell is ground up and jagged and can cause cuts. I also saw you recommend lemon and honey to bleach the hairs.... lemon is not good for your skin??? Sensitizing and can be damaging to your skin if you go out in the sun after. I just don’t understand how you are trying to say shaving will damage your skin but then mentioned alternatives that can also damage your skin.

dianamarina a dermatologist once explained to me that plucking leads to thicker hairs because the root is damaged and blood flows into the area to affect repairs(this includes waxing). Shaving doesn’t affect the root and therefore doesn’t increase growth.
Plucking /waxing also increases ingrowing hair as the damaged tissue grows over the hair shaft faster than the hair which gets trapped and grows round and round forming a nasty puss filled bumps. I had some real doozies. No more since shaving. Just lovely smooth skin!

I don't have the dark individual hairs, but a very fuzzy face due to maturity and changes that happen during menopause. I have personally been dermablading for over a year and absolutely love it. I do it once a week and am always thrilled with the results. It is an affordable option for many women that have a fuzzy face and can't afford permanent solutions. I find much of what you are saying to be confusing and believe that is because you have not personally done it to actually have the knowledge needed to give advice on this technique. What exactly is wrong with it being a temporary solution as long as it is understood as being temporary? Some of the solutions you present yourself are temporary. My fuzz has not grown back thicker or darker at all. In fact, it has grown back softer and I no longer have that "stubble" feel. But so what if you do? It is not something you see, it is just a little, in my opinion, not worth mentioning thing you feel for about 24 hours and then goes away. It doesn’t even compare to a man’s stubble, and my husband never once noticed. Most women don't let people touch their face anyway. This is information you gain when you actually do it yourself. Additionally, I have personally tried dozens of exfoliation techniques and this surpasses them all - by far! Yes, the smoothness is again, temporary, but so is every other exfoliation technique, but this one is the best temporary technique. Again, information gained when you actually do it yourself. Yes, there is a learning curve in getting the technique down and the instrument used is the key, but after three or four times, you got it girl, and you are good as golden. You stated that you have presented in this video is not based on any personal experience or study. It appears it is just theory presented by what you think will happen. That is not legitimate advice. This is a technique used by many many women with great success, and to make it as though it is wrong for every woman is a disservice to women.

What are your credentials? Are you a dermatologist or esthetician? Any time you shave any part of your body hair is cut off to the same exact length you will get stubble when it starts growing back. It doesn't mean you're getting more it, just means you can feel the stubble because it's all the same length. My friend shaves her face all the time she looks great and her skin is smooth. When she gets lazy the peach fuzz grows back and is still silky.

Hi Joanne I can see that you have tried almost everything have you thought of threading or sugaring? After you do this epilation, when you go home you can use some essential oils that will slow down the hair growth. However you need to be patient...

      LAVENDER AND TEA TREE OIL
An interesting 2013 study found that lavender and tea tree oils could potentially be effective in reducing mild cases of “hirsutism,” which is a condition of unwanted male-pattern hair growth in women. For the study, researchers sprayed the oils on the affected areas two times a day for 3 months in one group of women-the other received a placebo. Results showed a significant decrease in hair in the oil group. Try mixing about 1 teaspoon of lavender with 4-6 drops of tea tree oil and apply to the affected areas 2-3 times a day. Be patient-it may take a couple months to start seeing results .

Hahaha, yes, I am one of the idiots who have now realized I saw your videos too late 😒. So a couple of weeks ago, (i was never bothered about my peach fuzz) and I saw a video about derma and wow, then I realized how much peach fuzz I actually had and only then it started to bother me... being in lockdown and with no way to get the procedure or proper tools to do it myself, I thought why not use a new, regular shaving blade... needless to say, I was scared to cut myself, so I only shaved downwards and lightly (because of fear of self harming permanent face scars), and yes, it was sooo much smother... it has been a couple of weeks since and I have started working again, but today was the first time I had the time to want to shave again, and I again looked at videos, I don't know why, maybe for reassurance or maybe it's faith, when I stumbled onto your videos... so now my questions are... : 1. What is a better way, 2. These hairs are actually not hard but they are more harsh and irritating when i touch my skin- it used to be much smoother before I did this stupid thing, 3. Do I wait for it to grow back to normal, or will it become worse and longer than before? 4. How long till touching my face won't feel like my legs (that's a bit of a dramatic explanation, but still)
P.S. I am currently busy with a couple of beauty courses and I was planning on doing the derma to be able to do it for my clients..
Well, atleast I didn't watch your videos too late...🤭

Thank you for your comments, and everybody has their own opinion about this treatment. I have been in the aesthetics industry for over 40 years, so if you have a chance to look at my other tutorials you will see where I’m standing with this. I have an update on derma planning. It is only a fad! For the individuals that have superfluous hair... I advised him to go to an endocrinologist and find out why they have hair growth on their face, because it is not normal for a woman to grow hair on her face, from there she has different options permanent or semipermanent which is electrolysis or laser. If individuals cannot afford these procedures, then I guy than to just either tweeze or wax those bother some hair or even Clip them.... but, I would never advise anyone to start shaving the full complete face just for the heck of it so the skin feels smoother and the make up goes on better. I am an educator, so it doesn’t really matter which way a person goes I don’t make any money on this as some people imply, but you as a professional, how do you feel to shave somebody’s face? Knowing that there are better procedures for your client. Answering your question: if you stop doing it slowly it will go back to normal. I hope this answered your question, I know that I went off tangent a little bit because I’m very passionate about this. I hope that you subscribe to my channel so I could help more people. I will be uploading a new tutorial sometimes today or tomorrow, on age spots .... but this one below is last week on the cleansing. Keep in touch, Maria. ua-cam.com/video/oXVx3kXyS1k/v-deo.html

Hi Maria, I am so happy to get precise information from you about shaving the face, Thank You. Based on what you explain, does it mean shaving is not an excellent solution to get rid of facial hair for temporary? What about tweezing out the hair on the face? Tweezing hair out will make it grow back blacker and thicker... ☹️ I have to do this now almost every day and I do get stubble hair. I make sure I catch the hair and not just cut it off accidentally. TWEEZING DOES NOT WORK. I'd be careful.
After many months of tweezing, I now have to use facial epilator but to the same effect. It gives me spots and scars.
I was hoping to be able to shave but think it's risky, so won't be trying it, it's bad as it is.
If I were you, I'd be careful to listen to advice such as to do tweezing. It might make it much worse, like it did for me. You think it can't be that bad because you'll be removing just a small amount of hair at a time. But it might make it much worse. I start to hate my face, but until I can do electrolysis (need more research than one UA-cam video to convince me it's actually good),I will have to stick with these or suffer black hairs on my face

I am so sorry for your predicament, and yes there are a lot of bloggers and aestheticians that are encouraging people to shave, and 90% of the people that shave have your experience. The reason of people doing these tutorials is for either clicks on UA-cam or they’re making money on individuals by providing the services. But as you’re looking at the theory behind it we really don’t need to shave... it will actually irritate the skin. However if you have superfluous hair because of heredity or hormonal there are different options than shaving. My dear, what I would do if I were you, I would not shave again let the hair grow out past the itchy stage, and then figure out other options. What is the reason of shaving? Where are you from?, I would go back to the old fashion way of threading, which has been around centuries, waxing, but she would only in the area that is necessary not the full face. If the hair are very stubbly, then I would for sure do electrolysis, however you need to find a professional, experience, ethical electrologist. I hope this helps, again I am so sorry. So you say the reason men can shave is because they have testosterone and if they didn't shave they would grow a beard. OMG, really. That's just men, is it? And then you go on to say that your husband will comment on the stubble. This is all so sad. You then say you haven't shaved your face because you don't have to. Well lucky you. Please have some thought for women who do have dark or embarrassing facial hair? I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but I feel upset thinking about all the women who will have watched your video and will potentially be put off of shaving their face when it could be the solution for them. I would advise anyone watching this video to also watch videos from people who do actually shave their face before deciding against it. I have done a few such videos and also included regrowth follow ups and can recommend face shaving.

It looks like this issue is very a sensitive topic for you.... and, I don’t have hair on my face, so you’re right I don’t have that experience, however I do have over 40 years of experience in this industry.
We have two parts of the story. If someone has hair growth and it’s because of hormonal or hereditary and they have no other options to deal with the hair on their face if they have to shave that’s the only thing that they can do... but if they can afford I would encourage laser or electrolysis.
My main concern is the second one, when a young women for no reason, they start shaving their face from there for a bit all the way down to the chin just to make the make up go on better and many professionals are taking advantage of that and making tons of money on the expense of these women. There is a reason why we have the peach fuzz on our face and it’s not necessary to be removed. However...let’s agree to disagree. Maria ❤️

    • @OneLegOutofBed

@@AglaiaEstheticsTraining It is not a particularly sensitive topic for me personally, no. I have peach fuzz and some chin hairs but am lucky that I am fair. I am arguing a point for other women. So you are now saying that shaving is OK if you have a hormonal or hereditary issue but not if you are young and simply don't like your peach fuzz. That is certainly a distinction you are not making in your videos and even if you were, that is a judgement call and not a real reason not to shave. In your videos you are saying "don't shave your face" and leaving lots of women, who were teetering on a safe and affordable solution to embarrassing facial hair, worried about doing it. While I appreciate your 40 years of industry experience, do you appreciate the sometimes life changing facial hair that many women are actually having to live with?

Hello beautiful Maria, I certainly agree with many points you have mentioned such as there are other ways to exfoliate but I don't believe that dermaplaning should get such a bad review. I am still confident that when it is done properly by a trained skincare professional it has it's placed in the beauty industry. I believe we need to educate clients on how often is appropriate based on their skin health and for some ladies whom vellus is truly a confidence issue I am glad to help them with dermaplaning. I also feel that is a beautiful opportunity to exfoliate and help penetrate amazing ingredients to boost the skin barrier. First of all it is an exfoliation method and right now where I live it is getting very popular but I have no doubt it is here to stay and can be done safely without damaging the skin barrier (as not all skin can be dermaplaned). I believe we have to be able to tell clients that their skin is not suited for dermaplaning if that is the case and sadly not all esthetician or beauty place are as careful. I know the same applies for microneedling, many places will mirconeedle clients without proper home care before the procedure and that is an industry problem such as deregulation here in BC and other provinces in Canada. I sincerely respect all your knowledge but I don't support dermaplaning being a no go at this time. I certainly enjoyed your video as it is food for thought and help me question my method.

One Leg Out of Bed shaving the faces really causes the hairs to come out perceivably thicker, it’s a fact, a girl I saw on Dr.Phil with PCOD kept shaving her face since she was 14 and had grown a full blown beard just because of how much sharper and stronger the hair coming out of the follicles became, also the face got really rough over time, shaving your faces will only cause stubbles and the soft vellous hairs don’t remain soft and light anymore, have you noticed what happens to teenage boys who shave their light chin hair and moustache for the first time? It comes back looking thicker and pointier and darker, also so many beard growing videos talk about how continuously shaving the face at start will lead to a stronger and thicker beard, please don’t mislead women by saying shaving is okay.

    • @OneLegOutofBed
      @OneLegOutofBed 4 роки тому +3

@@vajramallya5483 Yep, you said it... perceivably thicker, not really thicker or darker... just to the eye it may seem different when it grows back. That is because shaving chops the hair, making the once finer end now blunt. Have you shaved your soft vellous hair? I have and it comes back exactly the same. I will indeed say that shaving is OK and in fact I have done a video saying exactly that and plan to do another tackling these kind of face shaving "regrets" because there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding around this topic, not helped by videos like this and the spreading of the "thicker, darker hair" myth. Like you say, it only looks thicker / darker as the blunter hair grows back, but the hair is not physically changed. If hair could be physically changed by shaving, balding men would simply need to shave their heads to achieve a nice head of hair. I have come to my conclusions from personal experience, listening to other women and doing research, not watching Dr Phil, the TV therapist.

I've been reading through some of the comments on here. You seem to be ignoring all the ladies who are commenting on your video saying they dermaplane/shave and it works and they do not grow stubble. I am also in that group and have uploaded a video of the technique and the regrowth 1 and 2 weeks later. Soft and no stubble. It would be nice if you could see beyond your own limited experience (which you admit is none) and see that it dooes work for loads of people who have embarrassing facial hair. You are scaring them and that will stop them from trying a facial hair removal method that could really work for them. Pointing out the cons is fine but there are plenty of pros. One Leg Out of Bed The root of the hair isn’t touched when shaving(unlike with waxing or plucking), so there is no stimulation of the hair follicle.
With plucking and waxing the hair gets thicker and often ingrown due to the skin repairing itself over the hair follicle faster than the new(thicker hair) can reach the surface.
Also with plucking/waxing methods, the root becomes distorted and the new hair will often grow back sideways. The resulting ingrowth can lead to huge pus filled cysts containing long/thick distorted hairs, which can even leave scarring when they are finally opened up.
This comment is based upon personal experience and advice from an actual dermatologist.

I’ve had no problems and I think my skin’s improved. I’m in my 60s now and so my overall body hair growth has lessened and I don’t need to do it more than like once a month with a few touchups for some darker hairs on my lower chin and upper lip. Many thanks for your excellent presentation. I was toying with the idea of face shaving and looked at many of the videos on UA-cam. What made me suspicious of them was the "links" each presenter had. Also, each of these ladies all seemed to be wearing a mask, there were no wrinkles, lines or expression on their faces, they were "too" perfect, unnatural looking, if you know what I mean. As you say, the hairs are there for a reason.
I'm 71 years old and I'm not thrilled that I have a bit of a mustache but it doesn't seem to bother anyone else! I can take care of that with tweezers, a bright light and a good magnifying mirror.
As to "threading", you have to be careful with where you have that done. Twice I have had the area between my brows done the first time it was okay but the second time was a disaster. After "threading" my skin was quite red (I'm a white lady), highly irritated and the woman who did the threading used an alcohol swab followed by a very oily baby diaper rash cream on the red skin "to calm it down". It had the opposite effect and for almost TWO MONTHS I had scaly, scabby, dry skin in the area between my brows that was not only itchy but it also hurt. My "bad", I stupidly had this done at one of those little kiosks in a local mall but it scared me away from "threading".
I have hit the "subscribe" button because I think that you have a very informative and reasonable way of presenting your facts. Plus, you don't seem to be selling anything, which is a nice change of pace for UA-cam.

It all depends how thick your hair is ...Shaving is a temporary method, that I wished it was never invented it is mainly for men.... there’s not many options except for laser, electrolysis...And a lot of people prefer to do waxing or threading. Let me know what is your decision, and I’m so sorry

    • @electrolysisbymarciagomez
      @electrolysisbymarciagomez 3 роки тому +3

Shaving is PERFECTLY fine and is what I recommend as a temporary means for my clients. However, shaving dry can irritate the top layer of your epidermis (skin) as you are also exfoliating. Shaving has no bearing on hair texture what so ever, and your hair will not know the difference between razors, but your skin will. Creams are just a chemical shave, and one should be careful using them.
Always do a patch test first. Psychologically, women feel more at ease using anything but an actual razor on one's face. Trust me when I say THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. Just imagine if I told a balding man, if they use a particular razor, they will grow more hair. Hair growth does not work that way. Lastly, female facial hair is hormonal, please DO NOT PULL OUT facial hair by any means. You will end up with a bigger problem down the road…this I can promise you. Most aestheticians speak from their point of view, I tend to backup my statements with meaningful evidence not just an opinion.

About acne, it’s usually caused because something is occurring internally, either hormonal, or your diet. Of course my favorite option is electrolysis, because it’s permanent, laser and you can do that because of fair skin and dark hair but that is semi permanent. However, I understand because you are a student you cannot afford it. So next option is to lighten your hair with bleach, of course being very careful not to like them too much and my last option is threading... waxing sometimes for sensitive skin might cause some irritation. Shaving it’s something absolutely wrong for woman’s face. Not only because it’s irritation, it will make grizzly hairs on your face it is very masculine....facial masks are not necessary to be used that often once or twice a week is more than plenty....But I would encourage your granddaughter not to continue. Does she have hair growth? If she does that she needs to go to a doctor to see if she has hormonal imbalance. I have to disagree with you. Dermablading is very safe and inexpensive. If you do it correctly by running the blade downward not upwards and only once on the same spot. After you can apply your favorite face oil, or moisturizer or just let your skin rest. This is recommended to do at nighttime only so before u go to bed is a good time . I prefer this method rather than applying chemicals to my face which can cause burns , irritation and redness which I have experienced in the past until I found these very great dermablades and have been using them on my face for 2 years. I am using the blades about twice a month only and my hair growth is less. I have never experienced stubble or have dark thick hair growth. As a matter of fact I am a subscriber to a channel of a Dr of Dermatology out of Texas which described shaving very safe. Maybe you should refer to her channel (Dr Dray) before making these statements about how its not good to shave your face when you yourself have never experienced or even tried it.

Hi, I was considering shaving off my peach fuzz as I have so much and I feel so self conscious but after seeing your videos I have decided against it. I am wondering though, what is your opinion on facial epilating? Would you advice against it also?

Thank you for this video. I was thisclose to scheduling an appointment for dermaplaning and because of this video, I have chosen not to do it. I’m in my mid-40’s and just want to stay looking as young as possible like most us women do :) I’ve chosen to just drink lots of water, continue using sunscreen daily and continue my successful daily skincare routine. Again, thank you so much for your very informative video. Stay blessed.

Also what about bleaching. Can we do that for temporary basis like after 2 months

Bleaching is fine but be very careful not to leave on your skin too long very dehydrating.

@@AglaiaEstheticsTraining Thanks for your response! I was using the Flawless device which is basically dry shaving. Over the months it caused me problems I just assumed were unrelated sudden acne, now I believe it’s ingrowns/inflamed regrowth mostly around my jaw (lots of red bumps). Now it’s at its worst and I’ve never seen my skin in such condition before. The first 3 months were great, then the problems started. I’m Mediterranean with dark, thick hair and sensitive, acne prone skin, so maybe women with really delicate growth/more tolerant skin won’t have this issue, but it’s made me really step back and take a look at what is being promoted online right now and how we are so quick to follow!

Whoa there... I am a middle aged women with facial hair that I remove by shaving. I have posted a dermaplaning video and also a general face shaving video to show women who need help with facial hair how they can remove it. I get no money, no sales, no commissions.. I just tell the truth. Maybe it is you who has an ulterior motive? Nothing gets views quite like a video going against the one thing everyone is doing and raving about. I don't happen to believe that is your motive (I hope not) but you get my point.

I totally understand your point, and appreciate your comment. I started this UA-cam channel with that specific tutorial and why I do not agree with toners just to give my honest point of view ...so it was not my intention to make it a business and if you watch my channel it’s all educational. I hope that you subscribe to my channel so you can see my upcoming tutorials. Maria ❤️

@@AglaiaEstheticsTraining OK, great... so we are both good guys. You don't have facial hair and don't see the point of shaving and go as far as saying it is a big mistake. I, on the other hand, do have some facial hair to deal with, understand the stress of having unwanted facial hair and like to help women to deal with it safely and within a budget... which in many cases involves some form or shaving or similar, at home. Shaving and dermaplaning is the solution many women are looking for and I don't like videos that put people off something that could actually really help them.

Ellen Papuga It is better to just please do you particular hairs that are growing astray. If you really want to destroy the hair properly use electrolysis. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Maria

Agree! Any recommendations for after the damage has been done. My lanugo is so fragile it won't come back thru the skin and is causing huge hard nodules to form under the skin with inflammation
