  • My friend is a real Eurofighter Pilot for german Airforce. Before flying the Eurofighter, he flew the F4 Phantom II. He tried to fly the Milviz F4 in FSX like in real life on my PC. In this Video he did a touch an go and a landing. He had some Problems with my Joystick :-)

I sure wish I could hear what he was saying.
I don't see where he is having any problems at all! He went around the circuit doing realistic maneuvers and did two perfect landings. An aircraft like this would normally land a lot harder, because of the faster landing speeds, than a commuter or GA. Those landings looked great.

Haha, so much pilot envy going on in this thread. Clowns.
Seems like your friend had no problems at all. Going from real to sim is not straight forward. You don't have the same field of view, ability to move your head, resolution, peripheral vision etc. The controls are in a different position and they're weighted differently etc.
This looked as professional as you could expect, given the circumstances.

reminds me of a time many years ago back in the 80's. We had an RAF Phantom Pilot staying with us for a few days. I was heavily into flight sims such as 'Fighter Pilot' on my Spectrum Plus 48k. We had quite a laugh watching him try it out, kept crashing the thing while trying to land. A year or two later we got news of him. Poor guy was killed while on a training flight. Nothing to do with the flight sim of course. Just very sad. Nice guy, very quiet and unassuming. RIP.

Your joystick is not the reason your friend couldn't fly this; the real reason is because of the horrible flight modeling Milviz did with the Phantom. If a real F-4 pilot can't come close to landing the damn thing, that speaks volumes about how bad this product is. And I'm quite sure your friend told you this. :)

+Ballinger French Agreed ! Yeah it's a crappy FM (flight-model). & the view inside the VC are wrong, small buttons & dials, you have to zoom in to see them clearly. I personally uninstalled it, it's not worth the money !

    • @ballingerfrench6304

I'm absolutely sure Milviz took their T-38 flight dynamics and tried to quickly cobble together something that would in their minds satisfy the hoards of 'gamer' simmers (easily manipulated and fooled) who really would never realize or care about how badly the F4 flies in P3D/FSX. In this way, Milviz can rush through development and cash in right away without being bothered with realism or accuracy. Bernt Stolle (Milviz's flight dynamics programmer) used to be legendary for his work, but since he became just as greedy as Milviz, things have obviously gone to hell. Sad. Stay away from all things Milviz except for piston prop sims. Milviz jets are absolute sh*t and will always be.

+Ballinger French: I was one of the Alpha and Beta Testers of this model going back 3 & 1/2 years ago and until release and I can assure you, the Flight Dynamics were well researched and put through extensive testing by testers on our team who have many verified logged hours in real F-4's. We matched the general handling, performance tables, AoA/speed variation behavior to the tables directly from real F-4 manuals and USAF technical orders. Regarding Bernt's work on this, it was second to none as is all of his work. Horrible Flight Modeling? To be bluntly honest, most PC based sim users would be easily overwhelmed by the flight dynamics of a real F-4 if they were placed in the cockpit of one without substantive training (usually lasting at least a year or more). The real F-4 was a very unstable and unforgiving aircraft and the MV model mirrors this behavior within the known limits of PC based sims such as FSX and P3D. I'm also quite familiar with the F-4 as I have family members who logged thousands of hours in the real bird (one of whom flew multiple combat tours in Southeast Asia). My real problem with this video is that if this person who flew the flight in the video was a real past F-4 driver, the system and controller interface may have been very poorly set up (causing him to have a negative feel of the FDE) and/or he was unfamiliar with the feel and trim assignments. I noticed the approach (as much of the flight) was unstable and being flown way out of trim and off-speed with late gear and flap deployment. Nonetheless, with the known limitations imposed by a PC based sim, the FDE is as spot on as you're going to get in a PC sim.

Uhhhh..... I'm a bit confused as to why a "real" pilot of any kind would taxi and take off in any aircraft when you still have warning annunciators illuminated. Back in my aviation maintenance days, we would never even taxi the aircraft for maintenance runs if all the warning lights weren't out.

I bet NONE of the 'verified' F-4 'pilot's Milviz claims to have consulted ever even sat in a real F-4. A real F-4 pilot would not endorse this crap in any form or fashion. Glaring errors you want? How about the engine thrust lag that makes it impossible to maintain glidepath with power and AOA with pitch? I'm guessing Milviz tried to hide this behavior by modeling an RPM gauge with the correct response, while the actual engine thrust values lag behind both throttle and gauge positions. Comments?

It depends if you wanted to keep fighter bombing than you'd training for the tornado, but if you were a fighter pilot you got training for the Eurofighter.
The Eurofighter went very early into the Luftwaffe, around 2000 or so.

this bayb need some script for simulate vertical instability if elevator george chanel is off, this only one way for got same as kobra in the flanker/lockon, same about f-14 if you pull joy in tomcat with "george off" you will go to 60* aoa for one moment, same with f-4 one inequality - phantom will put itself to 130* aoa, and if you have no alt, so eject...
btw all modern fighters are unstable as static so dynamically instead f-16 which got static stability but not dynamically, if george is on, all of them will fly as the do in fsx/p3d with more or less aoa/gload limitation
p.s. f-18 i think same as f-16 conception - relaxed stability... i do not sure, just do some conclusions by video when hornet was in stall and no spin, nose up/nose down critical aoa+/critical aoa- so is look like static stability but not dynamically
about p3d/fsx is enough, if you guys need real aerodynamic, so you have to born in 2050y and when you will 17-35 personal computer will good enough for simulate real life aerodynamic with real air condition include
