Thanks for creating the video, it would have been great if you'd have shown the battery removal, in case there is any complications to overcome! I really appreciate your time doing filming the video, as I now don't have to buy a new speaker!

Do you know why it is extremely difficult to remove some of the screws ?

I carefully followed your instructions, including removing the keypad, which later you said wasn't necessary. You should edit that part out. The connector to the keypad is very fragile and all the tabs broke off the circuit board. Now I have a trashed speaker which worked fine before as long as it was plugged into a power source. 😢

Many thanks for this. I was disappointed when my A3143 stopped working/holding charge as it’s a nice speaker. I’ve replaced my battery with an £18 one from Amazon. Had to swap the white plastic connector on the battery lead as the one I bought had a connector that was slightly too big. All seems good now 👍

Hmmm... bought my A3143 in 2017. There are a few omitted steps after removing the circuit board screws. There is an integrated plastic battery bracket secured by 8 tiny screws that also hold the 2 speakers in place. This is a bit more complicated task. Given the skipped steps in video and $20+ cost for reputable batteries, I too question the cost/time justification vs buying a new speaker. Regardless, I do appreciate the video Ed.

I am wondering if internal battery can be removed for good and speaker be run on external power? For adapter free operation I think we can use a power bank.

I've got mine tore apart and I can't get power to the card. I disconnected a thin strip of like 10 wires on accident... should not have done that...so tried to bypass all the jazz and went straight to battery port...and no luck...

This video is close to being very helpful and I thank you for making it. That said, it could be improved in a few ways: The lighting is poor and there's little contrast so it's hard to actually make out the orientation of the speaker as you're working on it. Especially bc it looks different for you once you've taken the top off but advise that we not do the same. And the sharp viewing angle doesn't make the speaker internals very visible. It seems that you skipped the part where you take the battery out. I managed to get mine out but not without breaking one of the retaining clips that held it in place. I'm hoping that's not a problem when I go to put it back together.
Not related to the video, but I don't know if it's worth spending $18 to replace the battery on a $30 speaker but perhaps I can put an AC power supply in place so I don't have to deal with charging batteries anymore

I have one and it no longer powers on, and assume the battery is dead. It is quality made , but not user friendly designed, this is more work than most people want to deal with to just change a battery. Thanks for the video showing how to remove it. I think my cable is bad will replace that first, then proceed with the battery if it won't charge.

Thanks for the video. It was helpful to see the process. However, the price of the replacement battery (now $19.99) is too much to make it worth fixing an old piece of tech. Anker has new speakers that are between $20-40 that are probably as good as this speaker. Maybe a $10 replacement battery would make it worth the hassle to fix, otherwise, this is now a hobby fix.

    Great vid !
I have one of these and just like you, couldn't find a video showing how to do this.
I have a lot of 18650 batteries which i think is the same as the ones that are in this pack. So i might be able to just swap the batteries and not have to order a new pack. And maybe even add batteries and get even more play time ;)

The two cells are simply connected in series and shring wrapped, right? Red+, black-, and that's it if I want to make my own?

    • @MrMysticSeer
      @MrMysticSeer 5 років тому +1

      TheBlacktom
The cells have a tiny printed circuit board inside the plastic wrapper. If you replace just the cells, disassemble the old battery and reuse the pcb. I just replaced my battery with a replacement from eBay.

The battery pack looks like 2 18650s wrapped together. These cells seem to be everywhere atm, from vape mods to e-scooter battery packs. The branded batteries are very good ime, but be careful of cheap imitations from China, as they are bloody dangerous. As in 'blow up and burn your house down' dangerous! Not good. For the sake of a couple of quid/dollars more for the decent batteries. Samsung, LG, Eleaf etc make good ones. Any reputable vape shop will sell decent 18650s.

Its easy. I did it with a butter knife but throw it in the trash when i saw the batteries were $25. I just bought a JBL flip i deserve a new speaker anyways.
