Main reason behind Humayun's failure was Sher Shah was too much for him. Beleive it or not but Sher Shah was the most cunning person of all his contemporaries . If he would have been in place of Ibrahim Lodhi he would have buried Babur in Kabul. Humayun did not lost because he was not good he lost because Sher shah was too good.

As soon as Bahadur Shah died Afghans started seeing him as leader and his power grew. Then he showed his true colour and it was too late for Humayun to finish him completely.
