so funny how i've lived their for years in the 90's and 2k's when it was all but off the nations radar. excluding some spring breakers from nearby universities and Canadians who frequented the place seasonally. But for the most part, much of the year Sarasota was more of a sleepy town. Same was true about Tampa clearwater and saint pete. not too many people considered the gulf coast cities. But it was fantastic, because it kept population down, and we only had to deal with those seasonal spikes of vacationers. But i always knew it wasn't going to last but for soo long. Problem with people.. they cant keep their mouths shut about a good thing. And so. you had the one time visitors, who came looking to go somewhere off the typical Florida beaten trails, and they just so happen to find themselves in paradise. Beaches like no other. Old money and the passing of the older generations, which made real-estate ripe for investment. people trickled in, and didn't look back. I know of many people who came for the first time.. quit their jobs in the big cities and hired moving companies to ship their personal effects, sold their homes and relocated permanently in Sarasota, all without leaving the place, in fear of loosing the good thing they've found. And one by one, the now trickled and slowly but eventually started to turn into the snowball effect. For so many years, people bashed Florida. claimed to hate the place. how ironic that it only took but two or three decades for those very same people, that spoke so 'fondly' of the place, to find themselves packing their bags, leaving the cities they claimed to love, all making a bee-line to Florida, and sadly enough Sarasota. So came the masses, sparked on by the footage shown of clearwater beach during the pandemic. The sleepy towns now have been inundated with the snobs of LA and NY. And all that was such a nice town still remains, but its the new people that have put a stain to it all. all the airheads, backed by their money. driving up costs, and trying to make the place exclusive. Its Sarasota not Santa Barbara. but now it feels a heck of a lot like Sarabarbara. i miss the old Sleepy Sarasota. it was affordable. paradise for cotton heads and snowbirds. i fear for Florida and its native Floridians. because the influx of people very well may force the state to add income taxes. moneys needed to address the requirement to hands such numbers. in many ways, i wish those people would've stayed where they came from. if not simply for the state remaining the affordable place it was. If you didn't need Florida back then, why do you need it now?

It's interesting how places evolve over time! Sarasota certainly has seen a lot of change, and while it may be busier now, it still holds that unique charm that drew so many people in the first place.

@@Florida4Kchannel No doubt, i love the place. but having experience it during more humbler times, i miss the sweetness of that era. And to experience the same in clearwater st.pete as well. But i always knew.. it was only but a matter of time. I now live in Puerto Rico, and the same is occurring once again.
