I think a daily level challenge would be cool too. Each day, a random non-boss level is chosen for players to beat, however squid is MUCH more aggressive with his predictions and stuff. There could also be a leaderboard for it, and it would rank people by how many deaths it took for them to beat the daily level.
The ability to rebind inputs is *always* important no matter how few buttons your game uses because of *keyboard layouts.* I have a French keyboard (azerty layout) so for me W is at the bottom of the keyboard and A is on the top left corner. So the ability to rebind the inputs to match my version of WASD would be very handy, even if it's not a big deal because I can easily switch layout.
@@YaenGamedev arrow keys are uncomfortable on some keyboards, but an azerty keyboard does work with the tfgh. tho dvorak doesn't work with wasd, or tfgh.

The best games are often the most memorable experiences, and those can happen in anything from houndreds of hours to less then 1
Small detail but technically you don't need an epilepsy warning, you need a photosensitive seizure warning. Epileptics can have various seizure triggers, some of which are related to flashing lights. "Epilepsy Warning" banners tend to make epileptics cringe. Good luck with release Jonas!
I really hope that you add control rebinding after launch, it's one of the easiest ways to dramatically increase how accessible your game is. While I'm sure having a billion keys bound to each move option is better than nothing... it still isn't control rebinding
@@EricKravity Not everyone has the physical dexterity needed in order to _use_ WASD though. There are lots of people who require alternate input methods (things like "weird" controller bindings, foot pedals, larger buttons, etc.) in order to properly play games, and control remapping is very helpful for that!
Another thing to add. There is actually a demo-ish version on itch io called will you snail winter. I would suggest playing it if you aren't sure whether you will enjoy the game or not.
Good luck Jonas! I've been following you and your progress for some time now, I'm an aspiring indie game dev as well, so it's super motivational to see you finally release your first commercial (solo) product on Steam. I hope it's a huge success and that we'll see more from you!

Don't worry, being bad at this game is still quite fun in my opinion. Besides that, the infinitely easy difficulty makes it quite approachable and the automatic difficulty settings are fairly accurate.
4:25 I like that idea, but I do think that it would just be sad to play WYS 200 hrs in and not hear a single voiceline. Is there a way to reset the voicelines, like exiting the game or an option in options? 6:45 + 5:30 Maybe color option 3 is less likely to cause seizures?
Very glad for you about the launch Jonas! I'm hyped and it was a pleasure to watch all your videos about Will You Snail during all those production years. You can be VERY PROUD of yourself! Side note (not THAT important, but it could be a nice feature for game's updates): France and French-speaking countries (part of Belgium, Canada and some African countries) use AZERTY keyboards instead of QWERTY or QWERTZ - meaning WASD keys are ZQSD on those AZERTY keyboards.
I saw your sister left you a lovely review for your game, and her review was at the top when I checked earlier :) congrats on the release and the very high ratings so far!!
here's my only criticism: - squid should repeat voicelines after he has run out, but only very rarely (this makes him seem a bit more human, also makes it so your not really bored after many attempts)
The way this is currently handled is that there are some generic voicelines that can repeat sometimes. Also it takes a very long time until he totally runs out of new things to say and even then, occasionally, you'll get a new situation that hasn't happened before. Besides all that, there is a way to just reset squid all together and make him say everything again.
@@YaenGamedev oh ok I didn’t know that sorry! that's a very good system then. I guess I'll just be that one guy saying "it's great" when asked for criticism...

Any chance we can unlock the FPS in future instead of just having it constantly locked to 60? Talking as someone who has a 240hz monitor and likes to utilize it as much as possible :)
The reason a lot of games are FPS locked are because the physics would run differently at different frame rates, making some levels unbeatable. There probably will be a way found by the community to unlock it, but be warned, physics will work differently.
@@Tektonikal There are ways around this, scaling the movement steps between the time between one frame and the next is typically the most common one and is what Unity's Time.deltaTime does.
@@Livaco The problem is that the entire game was built around this and it would require to change the game architecture at a fundamental level. I doubt that this will ever change.
I'm just about to buy the game right now because I've always been interested in it ever since I found this channel. The 60fps cap is a shame because I have a 165hz monitor and games like this are a hundred times better with a high framerate but I'll play it regardless. Great job on completing this huge project!
