If I were Disney, I really would be scared. At this point, the only thing Disney had going for them was their resources and their perfectionist advancement in technology for cinematic feats. But now, their competitors, who are far more gracious towards their animation teams, are catching up in both of those categories, and Disneys movie industry is really only breaking even as of late due to Disney +

Honestly, Disney movies have always been focused on children and teaching some good morals to them. I think each studio focuses on its own thing, the new movies aren't necessarily bad, just lighter to relax and watch with the kids. My only issue with Disney is their Live Actions. I wish they would make more movies, when they do something original they really go for it.
New animated Disney/Pixar aren't the same quality as the older movies. Turning red, strange world and lightyear are not as good as Princess and the frog, Mulan, Up, Inside out, Coco, Wall E, The incredibles, etc. All of which were movies focused on kids.

i dont mean to be THAT person but Turning Red actually wasnt half bad. Not only is it teaching younger children to normalize growth and puberty, but it also has some fun callbacks for people who went through middle school in the early 2000s. Many children of this day and age don’t like it because its the stage theyre going through, but its MEANT to be a little cringe. Mei is just a 13 year old whose experience phases like the whole boy band thing JUST like any other 13 year old. Everyone goes through changes in their early years and this movie is just trying to capture that process with animation.

I miss the old Disney, protagonists losing their mothers in the most tragic ways and then setting off onto a journey to fight demons, witches and all forces of evil with a fairytale/fantasy type of aesthetic to make the movie popular and memorable
The problem with this is that it becomes very repetitive. Creating new stories without the same problems, setting, or even stakes can make a movie way more refreshing.

But they have tunnel visioned too hard on just having more. The same problem exists within many minorities. But many members of the majority need to notice that they do not get less rights when giving us more. And organic representation is an important part of making sure we all do not just keep pushing down groups due to stigma and dogma.

the point is that New World itself as a movie is kind of...meh. its not a very good movie in the first place and the inclusion of a gay couple just feels like a cheap and lazy way to try and make the movie better because it's "inclusive" now. basically, the movie would be the exact same with or without the gay couple, but the fact that it is plastered onto a not very good movie makes Disney look lazy on the outside. if a gay couple is placed into a good movie, people most likely won't give a shit. the average movie enjoyer would probably just think "cool they're gay" and people in support of gay couples would be happy. so, it kind of is homophobia but it is certainly related to the quality of the movie.
