Leon is a is a phenomenon and so humble , good luck to other competitors to beat this Alien in the next competitions to come, .because he is called to the pantheon of swimming .
@@anl9490 Thanks for the insight. He and Wang Shun have such a sweet relationship, with Pan adoring Wang. There's a video of Wang patiently waiting through hours of Pan getting interviewed (one video noted that it was 2 hours) so they could walk off the pool deck together. (Wang was also holding Pan's lanyard to later return to him.) Meanwhile, Wang is attentive, nurturing and friendly with his young teammates - whether it's Pan or Sun or the younger teenagers up-and-coming. He's a great big brother. Then again, Wang comes off such a down-to-earth, goofy, fun-loving and nice person. I came across reference that Pan also had a friendly bet with Dong in the 100IM prelim where the loser had to perform push-ups on the deck. There's a video of Dong waiting for Pan before Pan directs him to do the push-ups. For Pan fans, it's fun to see him in other distances and swim strokes than his specialty of the 100m free. Even though he didn't "medal" per se or even win any monetary prize, it's a treat to watch such a talent. (His interviews can be quite funny and entertaining, too.)
This is probably the craziest event i've seen, there's a backstroker, 2 swimmers who is a freestylers, butterflier, a swimmer that swims all strokes( Michael Andrew), and two IM swimmers, also a breastroker, wth why is there every type of swimmer in this one event.
I am so old, 74, that when I learned to swim they wouldn't teach us flip turns because "they are too difficult for you kids"..... I do remember the old school back tumble turn being called the suicide turn. I guess there were lots of collisions with the wall and that is why they switched to the modern roll over and do a normal tumble turn....
Personally I think short course sux as a spectacle. I just don’t get it. I appreciate the skill etc but the proportion of the race being underwater isn’t great to watch
@@TheSwimsuitGuy ummm. The fact you don’t see much until they pop up? Potentially 60% of the race is underwater. With long course it’s a maximum of 30% underwater so you get to see a lot more of the event. Love your enthusiasm tho. I enjoy your channel!
However, a lot of people can relate to short course. 25 m pools are everywhere specially in Europe. Every town has one ( correction ; many towns have one and many have been shut due to energy bills). Lots of people train in them daily. In fact most people in that race were Europeans. Perhaps most of them started their career in a small pool.
I just want to see Kaylee McKeown sweep Regan Smith in their 9 backstroke showdowns at the World Cup stops. She's off to a strong start on day 1. Also, is Michael Andrew the most washed up "big" name in swimming? Can't make top 8 in the 50 free, then finishes last in the 100 IM, adding a bunch of time from the prelims (which is common for him).
@@therealgigglebop Hahahaha! Sure. Changing coaches in your mid 20s is far too late to revitalize one's career; you can even make a case that many world-class swimmers are slightly past their primes at 25-26 years old. Andrew won't make the team next year for the Singapore worlds, and by the time 2027 rolls around, he will be completely irrelevant.
@TheSwimsuitGuy Yeah but he used his right hand for the crossover turn and used his left for this one. It could be that he’s comfortable doing it on one side but not the other 🤷♂️

It’s a stunner
That was prime Dressel and the best sprinter we’ve ever seen. Gonna be hard for anyone even for to beat that record.
