Sounds similar to my father and my relationship. He was 19 when I was born. Through it all he improves and we had the best relationship in my adulthood. Unfortunately he passed away 5 years ago and now I never really think of those bad times and cherish the great times we did have. This video made my day better. Thank you.

Damn that hit home brother. I’m a single dad of three. I have two other kids that live with their mom. I’m also a recovered addict. Been clean since 10/8/14. My kids got me clean and saved my life. I work two jobs and do the best I can. The three I have custody of test me daily but I’m there through the good and the bad but I wasn’t always there. I was there but wasn’t there the way I should’ve been and I got a second chance also. All five of my kids know I’m there any time they need me. I’d do anything for them. Rite now I’m off because of this virus but I’m still able to make a way for my kids and I. Thanks for this video. Good to be reminded what all our children really need in life and that’s someone who loves them and gives a shit enough to keep them on the rite path. Great vid. Keep it up buddy.

I was raised by an alcoholic mother and my dad that was raising me died when I was 8, dealt with a bunch of bs and I dropped out of school to escape my mom. I decided I was gonna raise my kids exactly opposite of what my mom did. I fell into doing drugs for about 5 years. I finally got clean, got my GED, got married and had 2 more boys and they have all graduated, one is in the Army, the youngest is in a management position of a warehouse and moving company, and the two oldest work for that same moving company, one is a driver and the other is a helper. I am so proud of my kids and they keep me on this planet, without them I wouldn’t be here. My mom attempted suicide when I was 14 and it made me question my worth and that’s one thing I will never let my kids go through… Thank you for sharing your story and your songs. I love them

Working on pull ups and pushups but my core is fairly tough so I'm doing well in that department. Started at 295 and now I'm 275 and my recruiter said 214 is my goal. I'm about 1 month of getting back into it as I fell out of my workout routine when I lost my brother. Almost lost my truck to a body shop from the night he passed and lost my job. I started earlier this week at a new, better paying job though and got my truck back from the scammers taking advantage of me at the body shop. I'm doing good getting back where I was and pretty much almost have my life back together. Alot of thoughts raced through my head but I'm not one to take the easy way out. One thing that helped keep me going is looking at a bigger picture. Life has ups and downs and I'm just in a down point. As long as I keep it together I will live to see my next smile I would eventually get to laugh again. You just have to get to the next up point in your life and the only way to do that is to make it throught the low points. No matter what the only thing that can keep you from that next smile or laugh is death or yourself.

I have 3 young adult kids. Raised by their father and I. Dad worked I stayed home with them to be there for them. We were not perfect parents. They were perfect kids. Straight As graduated valedictorians all of them. 1 graduated top in college and other 2 are doing the same. They all still live at home. We've had 2 houses burn down and always struggled. I pray my girls are better humans then their dropout parents. They have taught me more about life then I taught them. We both(parents) tried hundred and one ways to raise them right. Only way I will know they are better then me. Is how they are to their kids. A lot has been thrown at them and they still stand up and keep going. That on its own is enough to know their ok. I send my respect your way for your honesty. Hardest thing to do is be truthful to your kids and about your kids. Tell your son thank you for his service.

My father was an alcoholic and a drug addict. My parents had me when my Mom was 18, my Dad was 19. By the time they were 23 and 24, they had four kids. My mom managed to go to school and graduated to be a nurse, but my father couldn't get past his own demons. My father came from a good home. His parents were both teachers, my grandmother eventually became an athletic director. It's a long story, but basically I have seen my Dad once in twenty years, I'm 34.
This taught me to make sure I marry a man who will be a good father and husband. My husband is nothing like my Dad. We have one daughter, she is two. He loves us more than anything in the world and he shows it every day. I was not going to put my children through what I went through.
For all you absent fathers and mothers out there, I hope you one day realize how much your kids are hurting. They just want you to be there. They do not need expensive toys, clothes and trips. They just want your presence more than anything, and for you to show that you love them.
