I heard somewhere that they have pulled one of the last ones off the beach and are restoring it for display. I don’t know if it’s true but I can’t see why someone would lie about that.
This is the single member Lun-class Ekranoplan, MD-160. In reality, the "Caspian Sea Monster" title was bestowed on the earlier single member KM class (built 1966, crashed and sank 1980). The Lun craft entered service in 1987, and retired in the late 1990s. A second Lun was partially completed but never finished, and still exists. In July 2020, the MD-160 was towed from a naval base to Derbent, Dagestan, where it is to be displayed in "Patriot Park". The tow ran afoul of an offshore sandbar. The MD-160 was subsequently, in December 2020, moved up onto the beach, where it was then moved further inshore, for the park, in December 2021.
This is truly a work of art! ...you have managed to portray a weapon of war as a thing of beauty, abandonded, decaying, silent, but still able to instill dread and fear in anyone who lays eyes on it. A fabulous piece...absolutly stunning.....
you are great at creating ocean and water scenes.. you're method is different than everyone else who's big on YT that I've seen and yours is by far the best.
Model is one thing, but that atmosphere, lighting, music... Damn... That makes it feel like a real sea monster, beached somwhere in the middle of the steppe. Amazing.
Your model is a masterpiece , fantastic build - can you imagine the 1:72 one ?? LUN was towed ashore 30 December 2021 ( away from saltwater ) according to Wiki . I think one of the problems of moving her has been her sheer size ! It was so sad to see her abandoned to the waves . Wales UK.
Once again marvellous. I forget to congratulate you for the publication of portfolio in the Dioramag 10. It is a normal consecration for such artistic work. I continue to hope that you will make a ship with sails (like Cutty sark or Victory or everyone of these incredible ships).
Wow you did one hell of a good job man! Presentation, music, atmosphere, mood, skills, very nice art! I wanted this in 1/72 but it would have been huge, but that's why I wanted it in that scale 😏 I have 1/72 scale rc helicopters, but this would have made an awesome scale rc display, p.s did you know this thing is bigger than a 747 and I think a Antonov.
This is one of the biggest masterpieces never seen in dio world. So whetered Ekranoplan, waves and shores are like a picture 🙌!! Wery interesting also the putty used to create the basis... Can I know some products references? Thank you! Also music in video is so matching!!
I'm looking at this beautiful model as my next project as well. Thanks for the great content. However, unlike in the comments and in the title of the video, this is a Lun-class ekranoplan, not a "Caspian Sea monster". The ekranoplan "KM" was built first and was photographed by US spy satellites in 1967 at a port in the Caspian Sea. It had its name "KM" (Korabl-maket) on its wings. This led the US to nickname it the Kaspian Monster. The Lun-class was a smaller version built later. The KM eventually crashed into the Caspian Sea and was deemed to big to rescue. This is a common misunderstanding that I just wanted to correct. Anyway, keep up the great videos!
Great job! Would love it if you showed what paints and materials you use as you use them. What was the white clumpy stuff you used for the water and what did you coat the water in as a final layer that gave it depth?
Great work indeed! May I ask you which color you use to paint the base to obtain the water colour. It is very realistic. Thank you in advance. And also which producer makes figures in 144 scale?
THIS IS NOT THE CASPIAN SEA MONSTER. The Caspian Sea Monster was a much larger experimental ekranoplan that was tested until it crashed in 1980. The Lun-class was of an entirely different design and survives today.
Thanks for making this model. The Caspian Sea Monster is a real airplane. You can still visit this plane on the shores of the Caspian Sea. (obviously)
I heard somewhere that they have pulled one of the last ones off the beach and are restoring it for display. I don’t know if it’s true but I can’t see why someone would lie about that.
@@ninus17 As far I know there's only one Ekranoplan in the whole world. I might be wrong though..
it is not an airplane
@@r.b.667 It is. It flew over water.
@@ErwinNiezing it is neither plane nor ship… it kind of hovercraft. Principle of its movemt is different than on a plane.

This is not model-making. This is art.
model making is art

Fantastic work - this is what I was thinking when I built mine, but I got nowhere near this - outstanding.
My great respect to Sir Rostislav Alexyev who made the beast machine and proved that Russia was ahead from their time❤
One of the best diorama builds I’ve ever seen, great video from start to finish. Well done.
There is so much talent in this model its unbelievable amazing
That’s one of the most realistic diorama I’ve ever seen. Bravo.
you are great at creating ocean and water scenes.. you're method is different than everyone else who's big on YT that I've seen and yours is by far the best.
Excellent diorama! The figures and excavator really show just how huge this aircraft is.
Absolutely astonishing work. I'm beyond amazed!

This is a wonderful work, I have been interested in the Caspian monster for a year now, this is an amazing robot of Soviet designers!
What an amazing job you did, so awesome to see unconventional builds like this one

Magnificent chipping work. Outstanding result
This video is a master class in weathering! I'm going to have to apply some of the techniques to my next build!
The rust effect is perfection.

As soon as this kit came out I was waiting for someone to do this diorama. Very cool.
Wonderful combination of skill, patience and talent. Excellent work 👏
You are the master of heavy weathering. So cool, I learned a lot watching this and enjoyed your process thank you.
That was extreme building, but most thrilling was making traces as final touch. Result is perfect. All the best for You! ;)

The Soviet experiments with ekranoplans really were amazing.
Another work of art...congratulations!
I suggest assembling the Nimitz 1/700 kit
A stunning build sir love how you do the water and waves an unusual kit but fits the seen beautifully
Excellent work! I've been working on mine and will now change up to work like you did. Much easier.
Master water maker! Best on YT!
Great job! It came out perfect! Loved the eerie music during the build too, it really sets the stage to this mysterious Beast!

This Thing really Looks Like a Monster!
A superb piece work of a machine that belongs in the history of flight archives as unique
Wonderful work.
A true artist, I love watching you work👍
Exellent work! Well done sir!
Damn, that thing thing is unsettling. Like it just looks otherworldly. Great diorama though!
A real masterpiece 🫡 love it
This is not a "Caspian monster". This is "Lun". "Caspian monster" crashed in 1980 and drowned.

You are a diorama master.
this this reminds me of Studio Ghibli vehicles and that makes this 100x better
Great subject, and fantastic build, congratulations.
That was really well done. Thank you.
Came for the build. Stayed for the music. :)
Cool dio. Well done 👍
Amazing modelling skills used on this model. I just wish that some company would produce this Beast in 1/72 scale.
It could be used for a movie. Nice !
Amazing model! It's a shame the real plane is not preserved in a museum.
17:45 that’s so satisfying
Absolutely stunning!😯👍
Cool. This diorama is from when they actually moved the plane!
The opening scene confused me until i saw the the model.🤔 I thought you had c.g.i.-ed it in.😝👍
Caspian Sea Monster it is ekranoplan KM (92м), some bigger, than Lun(73,8м).
Absolutely amazing
wow very cool what you did greetings
Oh my god. It's awesome
another amazing vid thanks
Superbly done! Wonderful!
großartige Arbeit , vor allem die Brandung - Respekt -

Good Day Modelcomrade. Exelent Diorama and Model. Looks good Greets from Christian
Awesome result .
Thanks for this building. I love this plane
Technically it's not plane :D
@@kretobojca Well not an AIRplane, but still EKRANOplane

Amazing work, really impressive!

Amazing build !
Great work indeed! May I ask you which color you use to paint the base to obtain the water colour. It is very realistic. Thank you in advance. And also which producer makes figures in 144 scale?
Cool weathering
Suggestion: USS Laffey or JS Ashigara (DDG). Great work as always :D
it would have been nice to have seen this plane in real life fly was it impressive?
Nice build, what are the brown colour stuff? Are those the air clay?
Technically, that's not the Caspian Sea Monster. That title goes to an earlier made prototype called the Korabl Maket, or the KM
Wow 🤯
Super awesome!
thats look like realy good
