I was reading Facebook comments on an official giants post that was just a picture of the 2024 draftees and I can’t even remember how many people said Nabers is too small. Like y’all do realize Nabers is taller bigger and faster than OBJ was right? Some people you just have to ignore. Not worth the time to even try to process what they’re saying. I don’t get why people feel the need to be so negative and try to beat these rookies down before they even play one snap in training camp. What does that accomplish? And if you don’t have optimism in these dudes then why are they even a fan of the team? Like they just live in a bottomless pit of negativity. Must be a depressing way to live life.
Yeah im not feeling that Hodgins slander. He's arguably been the most reliable WR since he got here. Yeah maybe he doesnt have the speed to make a bottom 5 OL look like a bottom 10 OL, but he has seemed to show up when the ball comes his way. Nothing against the new kid, and quite frankly, if hes shown to bw bwtter, ill prefer him, but its not like Hodgins is some scrub. Quite frankly my eye has been more on scheme because for some reason guys like Bellinger can catch when they throw to him, but they dont choose to scheme around him. Theyll scheme around an injured TE they traded for, and act like Bellinger doesnt exist when that inured TE is out.
@@CoachGeneClemons And what did they do? Hyatt I like his potential, but the QB-OL situation was/is a mess. And what did Paris Campbell do? He's on the Eagles now. (BTW, sorry for the long response 😅, I'll try to keep it shorter than this going forward) I just think something has to be said about a guy coming right off the practice squad and onto a team where he all of a sudden looked like the best WR they had going in the second half of 2022. Maybe not this dominant no.1, but surely some kind of possession receiver. As for this upcoming year, I was hoping to get a stud WR. That true no.1 WR for the Giants hasn't been on the field for the Giants since OBJ. Now, OBJ could mask some problems from the OL by making big plays in a relatively short period of time compared to others, but in the end the OL problems will still manifest itself in the form of relatively too many passes thrown to him compared to everyone else because he's fast enough to get open before a potential pocket collapse. This is what I hope Nabers can do, which brings me back to Hodgins. He's not as athletic, but he is a baller. I want to see him on a team with a consistent top 20 OL, because the Giants have been bottom 5 for the last five years. The Giants changed up their whole scheme once they realized this whole thing is going to sh** at the QB/OL realm. I'm guessing that led them to try and rely on more athletic guys, and thus maybe that led to Hodgins not really getting his number called. Not that I mean to single him out, because I had the same questions about Bellinger's lack of usage in the passing game, but it seems he was just getting blocking duty because things were getting dire in that area...which then brings me back to change of scheme, because even while Waller was mostly out, they barely went back to Bellinger in any way, but he had 28 targets and 25 receptions.. You'd think they'd try to lean on that some more, maybe scheme around the guy every now and then, but I guess not. So yeah, I think the scheme change is plausible, but sure I could be wrong. Maybe there was something in the back end that we didn't see. Its just, when the ball is in Hodgins catching radius, he's catching passes. 33 targets, 21 catches, 3 TDs (with only Slayton and Barkley above him at 4), 0 passes dropped.
Excellent vide.
Thank you
Big issues for NYG is CB2/ ILB depth...one injury away from trouble. Esp with a new def scheme
CB2 has a ton of questions. ILB is probably not as big of q concern because they think it is easier to find one if you need to pick one up.
This new regime has steadily rebuilt the WR corp. On paper, so much potential.
Very true. They have stacked vets and rookies.
What about Jevarius Owens and Tre Hawkins from last year? They showed a lot of promise and should be even more ready to contribute this year.
Both had moments but if the team felt that great about it, would that have spent yet another premium pick on the position.

I agree with you.

Just ask yourself this if why would a team address receiver so much it their 6'4" 205-pound receiver was that great?
If Hodgins was great then why did they put him on the bench? There’s a reason you don’t know about
He had a breakout season and the first thing they did was draft and sign two receivers. That says a lot to me.
