Would the same process be the same for a 2020 Cadillac Xt6?
I took a look at the parts for your vehicle, the caliper assembly looks very similar…I’ve performed this same process on various Buicks, Toyotas, Pontiacs, BMW etc. So unless GM did something screwy it shouldn’t be too far off most other gasoline vehicles built in the last 20 years, at least.
Pinning this comment so someone with a ‘20 XT6 can chime in
Very helpful! I was looking thru the manual but couldn't find the recommended jack points. Are those locations that you used good/strong spots for jacking?
Sure thing, glad I could help. Generally I look at the undercarriage of the car and set stands under flat areas of the metal frame with no flexing, however for this vehicle there is a jack point pdf guide in the cadillac forums. Take a look here, no spaces: www. cadillacforums. com/threads/jack-points-for-lifting-the-xt5-using-a-large-floor-jack. 1110290/
Hey Dudepingu, I hope you know those model Harbor Freight jack stands are under recall for failing for the last 2 years! Bring them back to the store for credit. And please invest in a floor jack that has its wheels. Would hate for you to lose a leg. Never trust a cast aluminum wheel to protect your appendages.
Well shit. Those welds did look sketchy. Thanks for saving my legs, I appreciate it.
Any stands you would recommend? I’d like to put links in the description if I can.
Can the top 17 mm bolt be removed and swinging the caliper down? Instead of lifting it up. Great work on this video.
Hey, thanks for the feedback :)
Yeah, I suppose you can do that as well (so long as there’s nothing underneath the caliper hits on the way down). Don’t see why not.
