Mainly speaking of assistance work here but it just never felt like enough volume or intensity.
My experience has been that they are essentially identical as far as the programming is concerned. I’ve enjoyed Evolves benchmark sets as a way to add variety. I selfishly wish you went back to evolve ai, since that's the app im using. But either way, I think it's hard to beat the ai training apps. The readiness scores and adjusting your workout on the fly are so good for being able to train consistently for long amounts of time.
1. I would love to see a weekly synopsis of your training week as in the past again. 2. Wish you would have given Evolve another/longer try. The option for 3 different intensities plus the lower/higher rep mode could give you a „non RTS -style“ training for sure.
I do like some of the stuff Evolve is doing, but when I switched from Jugg initially it wasn't b/c of lack of progress, so I felt it made more sense to go back to it.
Gotta do what makes you want to come to the gym and get it done. Yes on training logs....I have a book, spreadsheet and my white board...over kill, of course, just like the amount of weight in my gym...Do you ever do any consulting on programming?
How do you like the transformer bar? I'm dealing with some bad elbow issues and shoulder issues due to poor mobility from low bar squats, so I was thinking about purchasing this while increasing my mobility so I can at least keep getting the volume in and progress with weight. But does it actually mimic a true high or low bar squat? Do you think this is a good idea or just stick with my Titan ssb?
Really don't want to say "I told you so" but I'm not surprised you've made this switch, Brandon. I've asked you about this before. You've worked with some great coaches yet tend not to stick. I wonder whether you don't just prefer a bit more autonomy or don't have the buy in necessary. I might just be projecting though - I've also worked with some great, well known coaches and found I did prefer having more control.
I think it depends. Some I've moved on from b/c the programming was detrimental long term, some b/c they were just more flaky than I would have preferred, some just b/c I didn't want to continue the monetary side of it, and others just could have been a combination of things in the gym or outside it.
Brandon, what figure 8 straps do you like ? Im Thinking of trying them but I'll need to change my usual mixed grip style. I'm on juggAI, and occasionally 531, they both work for me especially around lifestyle/family.
If you under estimate or over estimated your 1 rep max do the program adjusted accordingly from week to week ? E.g you did 100kg x10reps at rpe 10 , next week it’s not going to use your 1RM and put 120kg for 10 reps is it ?
Usually 1RMs are updated at the end of a block (usually 4 weeks). What I like about RPE based work is that it adapts for that day. So If you feel like trash and it's working off a percentage of a 1RM it may be too brutal for you.

I know you prefer not to program for yourself but at some point you have to admit you have so much experience to draw on that you could probably program circles around most coaches if you put your mind to it.
I wouldn't say I trick it since RPE is pretty subjective. But I've found when starting out training again I always prefer to do more sub max stuff. It adapts over time and will readjust during my RPE10 weeks.

Well evolve is amazing but is nothing wrong to go back to where you feel more comfortable
💪
Gotta do what makes you want to come to the gym and get it done. Yes on training logs....I have a book, spreadsheet and my white board...over kill, of course, just like the amount of weight in my gym...Do you ever do any consulting on programming?
I have in the past but I'm too neurotic and worry too much about how the person will progress that I try to avoid it to not give myself anxiety lol.
What were the big differences you saw in between the 2 apps I’ve only used evolve so far.
I find the methodologies to be a bit different, not saying one is better than the other but I ran juggernaut for longer.
It's funny how one week can feel like an eternity.
You do you brother!
Thanks JL
All the Best!

I have a dedicated video on it, but I'll save you some time: unless you plan on using all the variations on it, I would just stick with a SSB.
So I got mine from Pioneer. They also sell axel versions if that's something you're interested in.
Is this elitefts combo rack?
Hansu
If you under estimate or over estimated your 1 rep max do the program adjusted accordingly from week to week ? E.g you did 100kg x10reps at rpe 10 , next week it’s not going to use your 1RM and put 120kg for 10 reps is it ?
Usually 1RMs are updated at the end of a block (usually 4 weeks). What I like about RPE based work is that it adapts for that day. So If you feel like trash and it's working off a percentage of a 1RM it may be too brutal for you.
A wise man once said, BAR DON'T LIE! This highlights the importance of trying new training methods while still thinking for yourself.
A wise old basement dweller.
What are those shiny chrome plates above your comp plates?
Hansu Chromes?
@@BasementBrandon interesting. They look pretty dope. If I hadn't fallen down the weightlifting hole and been looking at competition kilo discs I would definitely be looking for something like that. Strongarm Sport has some slick looking chrome comp plates as well.
What is that comborack you are using
It's the new one from Hansu
sweet vid mate, exemplary physique your winning
appreciate ya!
Who needs apps when you can just do what you want based on how you feel and utilizing accumulative knowledge and intuition through experience! 😅
I'm a bad UA-camr, not a smart man Jim!
@@BasementBrandon hehehe nah I’m just messin. It is frustrating though to go back and forth with programming when it sounds like you just want to train, feel good, and be prepared to compete when needed!
It sounds like you needed a break. I understand wanting to switch programs but if mikes such a good coach… couldn’t he modify it for you?
Not trying to attack either of y’all just wondering
Probably, but I was mentally checked out and when that happens for me there's no going back.
When is the hansu pb review coming
I could probably do that pretty soon.
I feel a renewed sense of pride in my hook grip knowing you are using it Brandon! Super excited to see how it works for you. I am sorry you feel like you owe an explanation for the switch back to Juggernaut. You know as well as me that enjoying what you do leads to consistency which breeds progress. Keep killing it man!
Tune in next week when I give up and go back to mixed grip lol
I don't think I have seen a video in my feed from you in MONTHS on my feed, until tonight. Now I recognize that I have missed two months of videos. 😢 UA-cam, I have been watching this channel since the supplement days. What's good? 😢😢😢
Thanks big Josh! They probably are doing you a favor lol
I know you prefer not to program for yourself but at some point you have to admit you have so much experience to draw on that you could probably program circles around most coaches if you put your mind to it.
It's one of those things where I try to limit variables to worry about!
1.5 hours. How many days a week are you training?
4
When was the last time you rolled your own program in a spreadsheet? You modify jug so much and “trick” it with higher RPE ratings, so why not DIY?
I wouldn't say I trick it since RPE is pretty subjective. But I've found when starting out training again I always prefer to do more sub max stuff. It adapts over time and will readjust during my RPE10 weeks.
I'm also back on juggernaut AI. Competing in 43 days 💪
Hell yeah!
I hope this meet prep goes well! Are those the Hansu chrome plates I see behind you during the voice over?
Yes, waiting on the 20s and 25s still!
Oh hell yea!
WHAT?!
Hello
How much do you weigh
Right around 220lbs/100kg.
How much does Juggernaut AI cost?
after discount around $32
Why over complicate things? Ed Coan had a simple plan and was one of the best ever. I guess bc it’s just something to do.
Using perhaps the greatest powerlifter as an example is a bit of a stretch.
Little known fact but Brandon has a second channel where he doesn't reveal his face, just look up Tom Havilland and marvel at the feats of strength.
😂
Now I have to look that up.
He’s back. Chad 🤖
Hope there's room for me still.
If you didn't try the other style of training, how would you know if it was for you? Glad you tried something new, but recognized what you enjoy. Looking forward to your training is the most important thing, the rest falls into place. Happy Lifting!
Thanks big Joe!
Very cool intro
appreciated!
Bro you’re such a hippogriff! That’s what you said to call you, right?😂
Hats off to being able to pivot and eat your words, nothing wrong with changing your mind when you own the decision. Certainly no sense sticking with something you don’t enjoy that’s costing money.
Yeah and that's my bottom line, I'm content... for now 😅
@@BasementBrandon is this a stone cold reference? Haha
@@gregors00 WHAT?!
@@BasementBrandon haha we didn’t have pay TV/cable as kids so we didn’t get to watch it much. I still get credit for correct guesses 😂
It's a TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPP; if it ain't broke, no need to fix it. What's that saying, the best training program is your next one and your last one.
Lol true that.
No one's ever going to call you a hypocrite for following your instincts... Except for the time when you upgraded to Ivankos plates just to get rid of them lol
Haha well the back story on that is wild. Was in Columbus AT ROGUE and was asking when they were releasing their own plates b/c I was ready to buy. They told me they weren't sure of release date. Went back to hotel and bought Ivankos. Literally next day Rogue released theirs. Tried to cancel Ivanko order but was already loaded on truck and would get a 30% restocking fee.
5:25 that's what she said
🤪
@@BasementBrandon Hey Brandon, I'm thinking of getting an adjustable bench to be used as a flat bench and incline etc. Is the rep 5000 zero gap still a good one? I really like the zero gap as most adjustable benches are annoying to do flat on
I think they've since updated it some. I always liked the AB 5200 series better personally. It has a gap, but it's minimal.
You sounded sad man, no worries. I don't think anyone is judging
Not sad, but I don't like to quit things, just trying to keep it real!
ChadBOT: Resistance is futile
You will be assimilated.
Damn $880 is a ton wtf
$220/month is around what most actual coaches cost
880 is a steal for a coach of Mike T’s caliber. He could charge way more and justify it.
$220/month for 4 months, Most 1:1 coaches cost in that ballpark.
First
if ya aint first you're last
My dudes.
