  • Todd Tuckey shows you a 1979 Meteor Pinball Machine, based on the feature film of the same title.. This neat 3 flipper game was made from TWO machines---with no broken plastics and a beautiful cabinet, its new owner is sure to be pleased! Look at how nice the LED lighting looks!

    Hi guys. Really enjoyed your Meteor video. I have mine in my dining room and I am in the process of a total restoration; caps, bumpers and LED's..... I did learn quite a bit form you, especially about the cap replacement in the sound board and the custom placement of the LED's behind the glass and play field. You Rock. Again, Thanks!

    That was my cheat code in 1979. I was in 5th grade when this game was created. Once I figured out how to juice the spinner, I just let it rip to get my score really high 😂 then I went for the drop targets 1,2,3.
    Harlem Globetrotters On Tour was the same as well. Hit all 4 drop targets, 2000 points spinner rip. Easy was to boost your score. Ball control is important playing pinball. Patience is key when playing pinball.

    Turbografx7 over on Twitch told me how Nintendo "customized" the distinctive upper part of the table by putting Nintendo character stickers over the unmistakable pop bumper and drop targets to make the marquee for their arcade game "Vs. Pinball". Anyway, what a cool table!

    Nice example. Hard to find Stern games from this era with colour still in the back glass, or ink in a lot of cases :)
    Now if you had a "Why isn't my passive bumper not bumping" phone recording, that would be something special.
    Finally, correct me if I am wrong. But didn't Stern rip off the board design from Bally. Bally took them to task and they ended up having to pay Bally x amount from each machine sold?.

    A bowling alley near me recently put one of these in. I've been loving the sound design, get some of those rockets lit near the top and it really starts to sing! Is a better strategy to prioritize the rocket drop targets or the meteor drop targets?

    • @tntamusements

    I would like to see a refurb video of that original PLAYBOY (1979?) with an explanation about why the starting song is out of whack (pitches are off) on some machines and sounds correct on others.

    • @RodsPinballVideos
      @RodsPinballVideos 11 років тому

      One of 2 things would cause that. Incorrect sound board, or correct board that needs an overhaul with new capacitors etc.
      My Kiss machine did the same thing at one stage. Rock and Roll All Nite sounded like some Egyptian tune. New caps fixed it.

    Meteor was my first pinball machine. I did a few newbie mistakes shopping it(mainly hacked the PS). Now that flipper kits are available, mine could really use one. I replaced all the drops and made decals for them before they were available(2002). Great machine.

      Cool. Got it at a arcade auction in Mesquite TX for 200$ working. Put 200$ more into it. Machine that I cut my teeth on. I can fix the S out of them now. Classic Bally board set is so easy to work on. Play field is good, was able to upgrade backglass (still 8 of 10), cabinet is rough. I have the apron that say it was used in the tournament. Again I love this machine. Cudos to TNT I think you helped me on a RGP post back in the day. Thanks!
