I’m a wedding photographer in New Mexico and I have been shooting many weddings the past years. From experience, I highly recommend saving your first look for the walk down the aisle. The emotions for the groom and everyone around you are always so much STRONGER and it’s beautiful to capture. I prefer doing personal vows, with a wall between you and your partner, a first shot or even a first prayer without seeing each other and just holding hands and standing against a wall. I prefer for my couples to do first looks with their parents, kids and bridal party when you are fully ready and in your dress. There’s so many ways you can go about your first looks 🫶🏼

Yes honestly I would definitely WAIT until you walk down the AISLE you guys can do photo shoot afterwards by yourselves with the kiddos. ❤️ 👰♀️ That first look in front of everyone would be priceless!
How exciting! We did a first look but only because if we had gone the more traditional “first look” at the altar our pictures as a couple would have cut time from our cocktail hour. So we decided to do the first look pictures one hour before the ceremony and let me tell you I am soo happy we did. The weather was beautiful and this hour for us was the only time we really got to spend together alone, the rest of the day was HECTIC flew by so fast, so we really enjoy looking at these pictures now. Also it got cloudy and it rained during our ceremony so the pictures were not as beautiful as our first look pictures.
As for the dresses yes they do take 6-8months to get to the store then about another month for alterations… if you have the time look at as many places and try on all the dresses you want. Once you find your dress I doubt you’ll not like it later. Just don’t keep looking 🙈.

I LOVED DOING A FIRST LOOK. We did all of our own photos before the ceremony and then family pics after, that way we still got to enjoy cocktail hour and not be gone forever!🎉

I would do a first look. It’s such an intimate moment and you can absorb it all in without everyone looking at you and cameras and just so so many emotions. My husband and I are renewing our 15 year wedding vows in May and this is our big wedding . We never had a wedding so we are doing a first look. 💛
I did the aisle one but i would most definitely want to do the first look if I can go back. I don't regret it but the first look is an intimate moment between you two and you can show your raw emotions instead of holding back because of family and friends all over ❤
We did a first look! I did it in a different dress though then changed to my big dress so he could still be surprised in the isle. We read our personal vows to each other and it was so nice!! It made me less nervous before the day got crazy. Highly recommend if you’re an anxious person lol

You could always do the first look when you are walking down the aisle, and then after you say "I DO," plan a little moment for just you and Alex alone!

First look! It helped us so much to see eachother before walking down the aisle. It helped calm our nerves and it was overall a special moment. We said our vows privately in that moment too.

We did a first touch before the wedding and then first look still happened down the aisle. The first touch really helped with nerves but also excitement all while still having that special moment of him seeing you walk the aisle
I did the traditional seeing the bride until I walked down the aisle and I wouldn’t want it other way! It was so special ! And my hubby cried his eyes out haha
First look in the aisle was the best for me and my husband. We got our raw reaction with or videographer and capture beautiful pictures ❤

For first look, I'd say do it down the aisle. But for 1-on-1 time, do it at the reception. So while yalls guests are eating, y'all do the same but with each other only. Enjoy that first moment of husband and wife. Then, once reception is over, make yalls grand entrance to everyone as husband and wife. ❤ Despite all the chaos, I'm so happy for y'all and ready for all the wedding talk!! 🤍

Did the first look and it did not take away from walking down the isle ❤ We got amazing pictures as well, no regrets we cried both times! It really helped with the nerves as well, it might be the only chance you get to be together alone and cherish the moment 🥰

My husband and I did a first touch/ prayer before the ceremony . He was blind folded so the first look was when I walked down the aisle. Afterwards we drove by ourselves to get a quick snack at McDonald’s before heading to the venue and that’s when we had our alone time and everything sunk in 🥰

Hi Les! I’m getting married in Spain April 2024 through the Catholic Church very traditional but weeeeee “very not traditional” also been together for 14 years and have an 8 year old daughter which our church is very aware about. I was also debating about a first look or first look down the isle and we decided to do first looks to keep that to our selves, exchange our wedding vows and get our photos taken care of with fresh hair and makeup! Best of luck planning! Go to Rio de Janeiro that’s where I went for my 30 birthday and I felt very safe and have such cool memories to have!

We did our first look at the aisle and don't regret it at all. We did a private cake cutting away from guests and had a sheet cake for catering to cut and pass around and we had a photoshoot after the wedding so I definitely made sure we still had time away together just the two of us away from guests during the wedding. Definitely loved waiting for the aisle personally.
Wait for the isle… u get a raw emotion of him and others and its beautiful. The emotions continue throughout the ceremony.

Yes I was stressing on that! Some bridal shops take soooo long to get your dress my wedding was in June 2021 and by February I still couldn’t decide 😭😭 luckily I got my dress perfect timing and still loved it lol

For your bday vacation I recommend Honolulu Hawaii. We went in December and weather was great. Grandkids had a blast. Alauni hotel is a Disney hotel w characters for the kids

For the first look there’s also another option….
You walk down the isle and that’s your first look at each other but for you guys to spend a few moments just you two alone after you say I do and walk back down the isle together you guys go to a separate room or the suite while the party goes to cocktail hour/ dining hall
We’re getting married in May and he also doesn’t want to do a first look because he just wanted to be wowed when he sees me at the end of the isle! Soooo what I’m doing is right after the ceremony, we’ll be greeting everyone, doing photos, and then I’m setting aside a 20 minute window before the reception starts for him and I to be alone and just soak it all in !
