- (3-17-22) This is one of the cooler vintage manual elevators I have ridden. This is an original 1950s Westinghouse freight elevator that just so happens to be glass! This elevator has an AMAZING view from the top floor!
Also, if you watch to the very end of the video you might notice another elevator. Sadly, that elevator does not work anymore and it would have been totally epic to ride.

I love these old freight elevators with windows throughout the shaft. That's the most amazing view I've seen on an antique elevator though! Still surprised this place hasn't closed for redevelopment yet. I hope this stays. And I feel this is older than 50s. Car-switch looks more 20s-maybe 30s.
I hope it stays around for a while!
Are there plans to renovate this building?
@@upanddownadventures Yes. There have been plans for a while but as of now they haven't happened yet. I believe Jason & Jared talked with the guy in this video & he told them there were mod. plans, at least for the passengers.

Quite an interesting fright elevator with front/rear gates and the scenic view opposite the landings 1-17. Curious about the counterweight frame on the face of the brick wall, below the 1st floor landing. Was it for the out of service/no longer operating elevator? I would expect to see the counterweight frame with the front/rear doors to be on the side or corner of the shaft wall.
Are you talking about the one in the basement? That one doesn't work.
@@stlelevators Yes, the elevator cab in the basement, which was no longer operational. I took another look at the video as the cab descended to the basement, past the 1st floor the counterweight frame w/the weights intact, no ropes. Which I presumed to be part of the non functioning elevator.

I rode this a few days ago! Did u see the old Warner that didn’t work?
Did someone take you on it? We did see it.
Someone took us on the Westy but not the Warner. I forgot the guy’s name but he was nice. The abandoned vaults were also pretty cool!
