When Biden said his delegates could vote however they want, he clearly realized what he'd said immediately after the words left his lips. I thought exactly what your commentator said here about releasing them. You could tell Biden thought it too. I remember his expression when he looked directly at the camera after that sentence. More than that, the virtual roll call (cobbled together shortly after that press conference) seems to be a move to preempt that exact thing from happening.
