    Honestly I think kawasaki hit the nail on the head with the design. The shape, round headlight and round gauges are exactly what people imagine when you ask them to picture a motorcycle.

    Hard to distinguish yourself in this class amongst all the other 70hp 650s.. More power? That'd be missing the point. More electronics? Not needed. One thing I wish someone would offer is better stock suspension/wheels, that would truly set a bike like this apart from a 20 year old SV650.

    • @zepenance9571
      @zepenance9571 2 роки тому

      The irony is that i'd rather have an older SV650 and do some work to it. I don't need a lot of power but i'd like a little more than these bikes offer these days.

      @dirkmohrmann8960 2 роки тому

      @@zepenance9571 me too, but in that case you're not the target audience for the bikes anyway. However, a new rider who doesn't necessarily want to start by wrenching on their bike, should have an option in this class for something with a better stock chassis. Surely there's something manufacturers could do in between the ultra primitive dampers on these bikes, and the expensive components on their premium offerings.

    • @bearcatracing007

      @@dirkmohrmann8960 new rider wouldn't be able be able to use updated suspension which would make the extra cost pointless to a point. The less budget items you add the less budget the bike becomes.

    • @dirkmohrmann8960
      @dirkmohrmann8960 2 роки тому +2

      @@bearcatracing007 better suspension benefits everyone, you don't have to be fast to feel the difference. Better suspension means a more stable bike when cornering, accelerating or braking no matter who is riding it. Goes a long way towards building confidence if the bike is at least sprung right, but on these bikes you can't even adjust preload in the front. So a 220lbs rider is stuck with the same settings as a 100lbs rider. At least one of them will be stuck with a wildly inappropriate setup, and thats not exactly beginner friendly. You can't tell me that they couldn't skip a couple bits of chromed plastic and add some $5 preload screws instead, especially if it would set the bike apart from the competition. Adjustable dampers are also hardly rocket science these days, but none of that stuff is even available as an option. I'd rather pay £150 for that than a different paint job.

    • @bearcatracing007
      @bearcatracing007 2 роки тому

      @@dirkmohrmann8960 what are pre-load adjustments going to do with incorrect springs anyway. As you said one rider could be light or heavy and adjustments will do nothing to suit there weight! It's amazing how many people come used to come into work and ask for suspension adjusted and you pretend to do something and tell them to take it for a ride and they would say it feels so much better yet we did nothing, always loved the shock look on there face when we told them we did nothing! Something to think about.

Well presented, funny, ingenious, awesome personality of presenter and even slick impromptu singing. As far as bike review goes, review felt complete, honest, and unbiased. Great watching, lovely ride and scenery. As an avid motorcyclist, I could easily imagine owning one of these. Chill, good looking bike, not pretending it's what it is not. 7:50 I think it has little to do with making the bike this and that, and its just a fundamental limitation of the platform. that 650 engine is essentially unchanged since 2006 and it never had any electronics and never will most likely. Good old Cable actuated throttle can't do any advanced electronic rider aids. I'd bet money on it if say the platform was the RS660/Tuono 660, and they'd make a retro bike identical to this one but based on that platform it'd have all the electronics and rider aids, not because it needs it, not because it fits the theme, just simply because it's already developed for the platform and it's there, ready to be used.
    This Z650 literally uses the same calipers, master cylinder, levers, engine, exhaust, forks, shock, swingarm, frame as the Z650, Ninja 650 and a lot of the Versys 650.

      I have a 2010 ER6 and it really is the same engine. Not that I mind them sharing parts between different models. At the end of the day the 650 class is based around the SV650, meaning attractive looks but basing on a simple package that isn't too expensive.

    I feel like one of the biggest draws of retro bikes is the aesthetic. Unfortunately, imo, the exhaust on the Z650RS misses the mark and really affects the overall look. The Z900RS is one of the best looking bikes out there, and that is due in no small part to the beautiful exhaust. IMO the extra $2k is well worth it over the Z650RS for both looks and performance.

    I think this is my favourite bike in the sector. The yamaha XSR looks absolutely awful, the Honda is a revvy four that's not really in keeping with how you'd ride this kind of bike. The trident is a bit bland and street twin overpriced. I remember loving the zephyr when it came out and this is kinda the new zephyr. Can't wait to try one. Looks better in black though.

    Remember those fondly but I've kept current and couldn't care less about retro bikes.

    To complete the retro look, this bike needs chrome handlebars. Back in the day, road bikes didn't have black handlebars.

    Nice. Even though I don't think I'd want this bike, even if it was free, but the video was top notch! This dude is a seriously good addition to 44Teeth, if you ask me.

    These retro style bikes are gonna sell well. It’s very in style these days especially among the 20-30 somethings. P

    My phone: Let's display this on the lowest definition setting.

    Uh bro, from what I've seen of the problems in large cities- that's not dog crap.
    It's from larger, bipedal Mammalia.

    Why lean into the turn and hang off like that on the street at moderate speeds? Why not stay neutral or even counter lean? Better visibility and quicker turn in. Safer. Better.

    They should get some credit for having some decent clocks for once. The bloody awful reverse lcd panels Honda insist on using look so so budget.

    Still think the exhaust could be more like the exhaust on the original bike they had there, a simple 2 into 1 system, more like the 900 in looks.

    Looks great, but the pricing is kinda silly it's only $200 more for the Z900

    Great review. So true what Boothy says. Personally I don’t get too hung up about the way a bike looks (that’s for posers imo) it’s more important how a bike rides.
