Hi Julius, can we add parameter from another event? For example on "page_view" event i have parameter called "author_name". Can I modify "session_start" event to also add the "author_name" parameter?

So, I thought if I enabled the "author_name" parameter on "session_start" it would solve the problem, because as far as I know the engagement rate is based on the session number.

For exemple I would like to take info about size of the file from DOM, pass this value to the parameter named "file_size" and add this custom parameter to the built-in event "download_file". Instead of item_category2, item_category3 it sends item_category_2, item_category_3. What would be a better solution (while waiting for devs to fix the issue)? To create a custom dimension on item scope level with name item_category2 and for Item parameter add item_parameter_2, or to modify it as event like you described in this video?

how can i disable a custom event previously created? The same event is sent by GTM and so I end up with the double event. In this video at minute 6 I seem to have understood that by inserting "new value" in "Modify" and leaving "new value" empty, the custom event is disabled.
surely, I had deleted the outbount_click a few days ago. and now I couldn't modified the default click event into outbound_click as your video any more.
Great video. Is there an url rewrite solution in GA4. In UA I used the search and replace - request URI, but I can't find a similar functionality in GA4. Thanks
Thank you for your reply. As a workaround, I created a redex table in GTM and modified the Page URL and Referrer, then I set up the new variables as page_location and referrer in fields to set. Hopefully it will not cause any issues.
Hi Julius, similar to removing params by leaving its value empty, could we also remove events altogether by leaving event_name empty? I tried removing some unknown events coming from Firebase to GA4 but leaving the value empty did not work so far (been 24h and counting). Not sure if it's a GA bug or events can't be deleted. No documentation about it either.
@@AnalyticsMania I tried and that didn't work. I'm in touch with Google support about this. They acknowledged that configuration seems correct. Awaiting for their updates as they keep delaying their investigation every few days.
@@AnalyticsMania Finally got an update, event names cannot be removed, we can only remove event parameters. Regarding event modification for iOS data stream, it would only work if the Firebase SDK version is above V8.3.0.

You cannot add custom parameters to session_start

You can fire an event with GTM 60 seconds after a page loads. Send it to GA4. Use Timer trigger in GTM.

Didn't try it. I would guess that will not work. But you can test it and see it for yourself
