Good Morning St. Augustine's, Great question. I have always used a mirror and tell myself to try something else every time I do this experiment, but end up using a mirror. lol I believe you can use something different, as long as its smooth. Whats nice about the mirror is it has a rim so the extra water doesn't run off the mirror. Thanks Ken
Morning Francy T, Science behind it is the top piece of paper has the lead from the pencil and the bottom wet piece of paper only has the indentation of the pencil. When the paper was still wet you can see the indentation of your message, but once it dried then you could not see your message. Only way to see it after the paper dries is to put it back into the water. Thanks Ken
Good Morning Gaming with Sam, You have a good point and I made a change. Other invisible ink experiments have to use a candle heat to view their message. So I change it to, no candle heat and you can use natural heat from the sun. (Optionally you can use a hair dryer if your in a hurry.) This experiment is for elementary school and using the candles to heat up your message could be dangerous. Thank you for pointing this out. Thanks Ken

Very cool! I never knew this technique... always did the lemon juice option 😁
Yep lemon and baking soda are the most popular, but this one gets forgot sometimes. Thanks Ken

That's great thanks! One question - do you have to write on a mirror? Why? (ok that's 2 questions!)
