Exploring an Abandoned Football Stadium in Gary, Indiana - Gilroy Stadium

- This Abandoned Football Stadium was built 1956 for more then $1 million, and never completed. (Lambeau Field in Green Bay, an NFL stadium seating 32,000, was built in 1957 for $950,000). The north stands, seating 5,000, started falling apart almost right away, and the south stands (intended to seat another 5,000) were never completed. By the mid-60s, Gary schools, the intended tenants, refused to use it for safety reasons, and that was pretty much the end for Gilroy Stadium. Now the Stadium is rotting away. The concrete is even collapsing. Hidden in the overgrowth was a tennis building with books, racquets, racquet covers, and balls left behind.

When I see places like this, once teeming with screaming fans, all the team players, all falling apart and abandoned, it's so sad!! Great video though, I enjoyed watching!! Stay safe!!
This guy is a true adventurer and is very respectful of the places he visits, as he never takes anything from them
True, but even if he did, it wouldnt be a big deal. Its abandoned, so if he can use it, good for him .
First high school game I ever went to was there, mom went to Wallace and Dad went to Tolleston they played there when I was nine years old. Use to be a beautiful stadium
I have tennis rackets like the old ones 😅who owned this complex ? I always wonder why these things get abandoned, rather than upgraded.
This guy deserves more subs
“That is a giant hole!” (Proceeds to step closer to the decaying edge of the giant hole)
