Thanks for taking the time to video your project. Restored two Rd400s myself as well as having two back in the day, one from new, so always keen to see what others are doing. I like PJ1 as it gives the oe finish but find its not as petrol proof as it used to be after they took all the good stuff out of it. You can use PJ1 without primer as well. Good luck with your project.

Yes I also heard PJ1 isn't as good as it used to be but this is the first time I've used it so I'll see how it goes. Good to learn it doesn't need primer, I wasn't aware of that!

Great video! I've done some similar restoration work, but never had the patience to sand the old paint. I use a blast cabinet filled with plastic beads. It strips the paint down to the bare metal without damaging the original surface, or trying my patience. Leaves a micro blast finish that is great for paint adhesion.

Thanks for the feedback :) A blast cabinet will definitely be my next purchase I think, sure will make life a bit easier. I did debate going down the paint stripper route to be honest but heard too many stories about the modern stuff not being as effective as it used to be

@@ATX-Automotive Most paint stripper available is rubbish however you can still get old school stuff from internet and sometimes from your local car paint suppliers.

Hello, I am writing to you with a huge request to help me. I live in Russia and build my motorcycle based on the Soviet IZH-Jupiter 4 by analogy with the Yamaha RD400. I do not have the ability to remove the cylinder scan with the heights of the intake, exhaust and purge windows from the original, because in Russia the Yamaha RD 400 is not found.
Please help me to remove all the necessary dimensions.
    I attach an example below.
