Everyone is knocking it, but for those of us who have to be soundman, musician, singer, performer, and manage the night, this is a god send. I've demoed the whole system at NAMM and InfoCOMM, and when coupled with the "Smart Speakers", they have made good sound attainable by SO many more people. Most bands suck, not cause they can't play, it's usually for shitty sound! I LOVE the idea of setting up the return venues and never having to do a soundcheck again after I dial in a venue! Kthnx!
This video has helped a bit. I'm supposed to be going on your with the entire new rig next weekend, kind of scared to have a mixer with no faders!!! But at the same time, it could be a new thing that I may enjoy.
Incredible product and great attention to detail! I think those other mixer companies who thought they could rest easy now they have a couple of digital mixers in their product range may have to think again!
It's about time. Most sound boards are still running on 1950s technology. ...and it can be wirelessly controlled by an ipad? How could you not like this? I'll be ordering as soon as they are available.
The coolest thing at NAMM this year! This will be a game changer. It gets confusing at times, like adding effects sends & returns. I saw a USB port. Updates & plug ins. I'm getting dizzy.
@SeaBeeLeee Your knowledge wont go to waste. You still have understand the components being used. This is for guys like me with small home studios. In the end I still need an engineer to go over the material & straighten out the sound. It is a cool idea though. But people with your knowledge will always be needed.
I just bought this mixer about a month ago. It's easy if you don't own it to call it a fisher price overpriced hunk of shit, but that just proves that you don't own one have never seen one in person and that your just guessing in the dark. I guess that's the danger of publicly stating an opinion about something you've never touched. The truth is, this thing is incredible !! The feedback suppression works like magic and it's quick and easy to dial in great sounds on any instrument or voice.
I just saw this today with my own eyes and got a great demo on it, it is a new interactive smart way of mixing....and trust me I tried to be as critical and skeptical as possible.....its interesting a ton of Avid engineers that helped build the Venue got in on this....this is not a toy, even though it is in its infancy stage there are larger versions in the works...im really excited about this concept, don't be surprised if we see other adaptations from other companies
Are you serious? I'm doing an SAE degree, and I'm a jobbing engineer, and i love this thing. If this is a serious threat to your job prospects i'm not sure people would employ you in the first place, this is aimed at a market which as a "graduate" engineer you should be above working in. i'd personally like to see a bigger version, give me one with remote i/O say 48 channels and some faders, i'd have one, on the spot! this thing isn't a toy, the DSP is seriously impressive stuff.
@pflo99 I think it's about $2,500.00. It has outboard effects, I don't think it's overpriced considering what it includes. This system would be great for a permanent install in a small club.
@MrUltraworld True true, but still the M20D is a beast! I mean just look at it, a 20ch mixer fits on a coffee table! All with independent gear for each channel!
@SeaBeeLeee It's hard to believe isn't it? I'm going to purchase it & give it a thorough work out. I bought the M13 when it came out. The models didn't sound anywhere near as good as the real analog pedals I have. A lot of effects were missing certain controls that made them special. A lot of their products (the amps) fall short in that regard. The POD is still their greatest invention. a quick, easy way to get a decent recorded tone without any fuss. maybe this will mixer will follow that path.
i just got a great hands on demo of this product and i would disagree, the screen size never bothered me, if there were two screens this i think then it would be more complicated to use, the single screen is fine.....im sure new versions / tweeks will come about so it wouldnt surprise me to see a bigger screen....overall its a great concept and I really enjoyed looking at and setting it up
Ive noticed that with pedals also. Some of the guitarist we have tryed em and some of do work but its more of a trial n error. Like you said, that trademark sound these companies have are lost in the digital process. Great idea just need to tweek n perfect. Im thinking about trying Mackie's DL1608 (Just because its $1K) since the've been making boards for while. But we'll see.
No problem then, the product isn't aimed at you. It's not really meant to replace the classic way of doing things that gets you the best results if you have a tech who knows what they're doing, but it's a great alternative for those that don't have such expertise. The pricepoint doesn't make all that much sense, you can build a decent PA and monitoring system for the money (you'd still need the actual speakers for this thing). If you can afford it, you're not likely to mix for yourself.
@OcalaMusician So very true. I just got done taking 2years worth of college Pro Audio. And now with companies coming out with all this, it really makes me sad. Kinda feel as if i wasted my time, but then agian im ol school and unlike these "kids" i actually know what compression, gate. limiters and EQ do and how to actually use it.
Built for those musicians who have to run their own sound. Because, you know, those types of weekend warrior bands can afford a $2400 mixer. Nice idea, but I'll stick with my tried and true "old school" components. Hell, I could put together a passable PA for $2400.
I agree many people left SAE around the world who i wouldn't trust cleaning toilets, however you can't assume that everyone is tarred with the same toilet brush, i know my cv is a fine read capable of getting good work, i have no idea about yours so i'll refrain from comment.
This is a great concept butt is way too complicated due to a single screen interface. If it had maybe 2 screens it would be better. Problem with multiple functions to dial up with touch screen interface is a little daunting for quick and intuitive adjustments. That is both the blessing and the curse of the iPad like concept. Even iPads are limited for the same reason.
What a terrible UI. What were you thinking ? That is supposed to be easy ? The layout of my 01V96v2 is way better than this. Make a mixer and bag the video game UI.

How is it possible that there is only one video about such great mixer on whole internet ????

A Swiss army knife will never replace a Bowie knife. ;)

@JonAnderhub What shortcomings in particular?
Very useful. What is the price?
What has happened to this product? I would like to buy one.
There's even a groupie knob that blows you after the show!!!
isn't that sold separately?
HOLY SHIT!!!!
man totally i agree

@MrPREROCK I know
Very innovative for sure, but it's short commings outweigh it's innovation 8(

no one needs a sound engineer anymore, im in uni doing my degree in audio engineering etc.. Stop putting me out of a bloody job.
Ha!
@jdrudo $2500
it was a joke........
