A well packed review into 1 minute - I'm impressed.
Cheers, mate! Glad you enjoyed it @tobiewolfen01
Heat hear
callisto protocol is a solid game and if you're like me who's been waiting for it and the dead space remake, callisto will definitely help the wait until dead space remake comes out.
I agree @anthony_jon.2250
While it does have a handful of flaws, it still has a great atmosphere and fun moments to witness.
Hopefully EA is able capture the magic of the original Dead Space, with a few touch-ups for good measure - Anthony
Do you think the callisto protocol was bettee than remake?
@@dojaboytan4559nope. EA pulled a miracle out their ass with the dead space remake cause it’s almost a perfect remake tbh
@@dojaboytan4559I think it's better than dead space remake
@kyrukun nice I was dissapointed with the remake. Not for any reason of the dev, the game just felt old, while I guess in 2008 it was mindblowing
Callisto Protocol on Ps5 has been a solid playthrough, and I'm enjoying every new moment. Playing Dead Space series games multiple times the gameplay became easy to predict. Experiencing everything fresh on Maximum Security has been truly refreshing. I definitely died many times before understanding melee combat against more than one enemy at a time. Story develops as you get closer to end of the game, and enemies develop and become more mutated later on. I like all the weapons and how some are swappable 3d printed attachments. Graphics are insane, and I appreciate Striking Distance trying something similar to Dead Space but in a completely different fashion. 8.5/10 for me, new favorite horror game in my collection, looking forward to DS remake and Resident Evil 4 remake🤘💯
We get it your justifying why you bought the game.
@@shockdoc7077 Who is we?
Solid review my brother
@@shockdoc7077 you’re probably either a sports game person or your average fps fanboy lmao
I honestly just want to get just to satisfy my craving until dead space and RE4 remake drops.
Haven’t finished the game yet, wanna say I’m half way or a little past half way. So far I love it, they don’t give away too much so it gives you room to really think about what the hell is going on. There’s a lot of lore you can find by either exploring or just listening to dialogue. So far I give it a good 8-8.5. Im excited for the Dead Space remake to really see the difference tho
I actually truly had a fun time playing this game. I wish they make the sequel
Good game as long as it doesn’t randomly turn 5 fps every 2 minutes
Ooft! @Ian
Were you experiencing low FPS on PC?
Because mine was a bit stuttery at times too - Anthony
As far as im aware the pc verson is broken rn i play on ps5 and its running super smoothly
@@TheBetaNetwork
yes
good looking game but I tried everything and it just never really stopped with the stuttering
Ahhh, well that sucks.
I had the same experience too, even after putting in the recommended settings from the in-game benchmark tool.
Hopefully there's a patch to be implemented soon for PC.
@@david12278 True i play it on ps5 and turn performance mode on with this game run very good with no big fps drop. PC version always dont run good at release need some updates and new drivers for better optimalization.
I think the harder difficulties are more intended for you to use the surroundings instead of using the standard attack system to push players more out of their comfort zones
I personally loved the game and enjoyed the combat even though I know most people don't care for it.
Dying in this game actually has some nice gore finishers, makes not that fussed you died 😄
As much as it has its faults, I feel this game is OVER HATED.
Because people are stupid as hell nowadays
No lie it's pretty fun
I'm playing it currently and I agree. The reviews were putting me off playing it but I'm enjoying it now that I finally picked it up
It's not
I avoided this for a long time because of reviews. Thought I’d give it a go when it appeared on gamepass and really enjoyed it.
As someone who enjoyed the game more than you did, I would say any Dead Space/Survival horror fans should get this game immediately, it's more than a treat.
Any newcomers to the genre should instead play the original dead space, play the dead space remake OR wait until this goes on discount (christmas sales?)
As soon as you said “wicked”, you lost me 😂
Ahhhh, that's fair 😂
Is there something that annoys you about the word? @multiskillakid
I like to change up my vocabulary often, so you probably won't hear it for a while in my future reviews - Anthony
It's wild to me that apparently 7/10 means a game is bad to some people. I agree with this video.
Cheers, mate! @dustinakadustin
While it does have it's flaws, The Callisto Protocol is still worth experiencing, in my opinion - Anthony
I loved the story and it wasn't the best but I love the potential in it and hope with a dlc or sequel they understand that🔥
I honestly don’t understand “ANY” of the negative reviews or complaints.. I did not feel the same way playing this game. Its one hell of a cinematic experience, the atmosphere and aesthetic is amazingly pleasing, the setting is dope, the characters are likable and the gameplay is fresh. Familiar yet unlike any other game I’ve played in the past decade. Been a while since we had one like this
Josh Duhamel in this is that's cool but Sam Witwer the voice of StarKiller(Star Wars Force Unleashed 1&2) is also in this game, I got memories of him as StarKiller like when he pulled that star Destroyer out of the sky on Raxus Prime in the 1st Force Unleashed.
I agree with what you said about being repative and how many shots it takes (on higher difficulty) to kill the monsters. But i think combat was very fun and you can kill them in multiple ways and find the traps to throw them in. I wish the grip had more abilities and a bigger upgrade panel, because throwing monsters is fun but i feel like it has lots of potential to do more
I think there should be a "realistic" difficulty or something.
Maybe a smaller reaction window, less health for both jacob AND especially the monsters!! Less drawn out fights that are more intense!
This game goes up to an 8 or maybe 9 if you over use the grp. Not enough people use the grp to throw items at enemies, which can kill some, or remove limbs
A Wild Biophage appears!
The Wild Biophage is evolving!
Sums it up quite well 😂 @DJVirgoNeun1
@@TheBetaNetwork Also, the loading screen killed the game for me. I can care less about the story ruining a potential franchise because they should at least carry it over to another character. You know, pass the torch like the RE franchise.
It was a genuinely good game, but I felt that it just needed more time in development whether it be to make the story line longer or add more gameplay machanics, if it had another year or 2 in development it would've been a better game than it is already
That game is great and defiantly worth a play through or two.
They gave 90% of the budget to the graphics dept. and split the other 10% between gameplay and advertising
Just finished the game last night and I actually enjoyed this game. Not scary to be honest, but you can see the level of effort the developers put into to this title. Bad word of mouth kept me from buying; while waiting for a bargain bin sale. Fortunately it was added to Gamepass making my subscription for warranted.
Just beat it on hardcore with barely upgraded weapons and it was cool maybe to short but still solid game
At the same time tho it's all about surviving, yeah might not hold the best title in the horror franchise but it's still hell'a scary in some parts the tension especially. Still, it's a really good game and it holds potential
I just got the game the other week on steam and the game is great! I am loving it big time, lots of fun, looks great as well and I have had zero issues with visuals (fixes and correct settings help)
Just played it. Loved it, and got the platinum.
Had a pretty good time with this game
I'm loving it so far. Finally got around playing it and I don't regret my pre order decision at all.
That's awesome! @MrNeonx
Glad you were able to enjoy it more than most other people did 👏
What was your favourite(s) part of the game? - Anthony
Aah but you do
@@Tenchi707 with ur name Ur mom regrets u
Most fair review I’ve seen so far, all other reviews seem to judge based on how it compares to dead space which is a tad unfair. I think 7 is the correct score for this one
Cheers, mate! Thanks for the positive feedback @joogonetime
Funnily enough, as I was playing through, all I could think was
"Man, that Dead Space remake can't come soon enough" 😂
Are you excited for any other upcoming games? I'm currently playing through FFVII: Crisis Core Reunion for review purposes - Anthony
Just playing this one now. I’m enjoying it and will probably go through on hard once completed
The cast was awesome though I’ll admit that 🖤
This game ran crazy well with a 6gb of vram and 16gb of ram
Biggest problem with the game is gun swap system. Very difficult to select a different gun mid fight.
Yeah, it's the most unnecessarily clunky system for no reason @danielfarrell3534
One of the reasons why I could not give this game a higher score - Anthony
7 is a much fairer review score than what some reviewers are giving. It's nowhere near being a bad game. It just doesn't have any strong or remarkable aspect except for its gore scenes.
Yep, that's what I was trying to get at @user-mx9zw8or6f
I think if they take the criticism from this game and make a sequel for The Callisto Protocol, they could be onto something really special - Anthony
So it's a 5 or 4 out of 10. And that's all it deserves.
It has the worst most awful combat system in any game ever 4/10 max
@@Bradderz407 Okay, what's the next worse combat system you've ever played?
Spike walls are in a lot of spots holding your hand
I beat the game today. Pretty fun.
But I hate they didn't added the plus mission. Where you carry all your upgrades stuff to a new game. I had credit left from my last game. Lol
Yeah, that was really aggravating @Dennis Reynolds
Part of the fun in horror games like Dead Space and Resident Evil is going back and absolutely spanking zombies with all of your upgraded equipment - Anthony
I absolutely loved the story I hope the sequel really takes the good and leaves the bad
Im in the middle of playing it at the moment and im enjoying it...
Finally playing this game an i really enjoy it on PS5 looks amazing. A 7 is def fair for a score
I like how people keep saying that the combat is repetitive bit can repeat stuff like resident evil all day. And the dodge mechanics aren't even that bad considering you could just be only blocking or not able to even move as enemies jump on you. I think the back and forth dodge hit idea is good too because it takes into account stamina and reaction time when you don't know if an enemy is gonna stop to take a breath or go into two more swings
It's a good idea in concept, but in practice it's still a bit janky there'd be times where I'd either dodge but it doesn't count for some reason and I get gibbed.
@@patchesgaming9139 I've noticed that you can fail dodges if there is a wall to your side, if there is a wall on your right then dodging to right seems to fail
And yet Resident evil never feels repetitive. So they have to ask themselves why their game feels like this.
@@1994mrmysteryman because its in third person and your character moves faster than 1 mile an hour. thats why resident evil never gets oh wait it does I'm DONE walking at snailpace away from a tentacle goo monster WHY CANT I RUN
I'm and an older gamer so I love the old school gameplay. The tank controls are a little dated but again it gives it that classic RE feel. I was only dissapointed with the poor and repetitive boss battles.
Is it fair to call it a next gen since it was made in Unreal Engine 4 and released almost a year after UE5 release?
He said that it looks next-gen.
Yeah it has issues, I liked it personally, but if anything I look to The Evil Within in these kind of situations. The first game had potential and a great start, but just felt...weird in the second half. The DLC really improved things, but the second game, oh boy is the second game really good!
With that in mind I hope the game gets a sequel and like The Evil Within I hope the devs learn what to do better, and make a great game because of that.
I gave it a 8 out of 10 it needs more weapons but I enjoyed it
They fixed the stutters
Easy way around the long melee fights..shoot a leg off and then they die to 1 melee hit
I mean, you definitely can @je.6985
The only problem is that you'll run out of ammo very quickly. But hey, if it works, then more power to you! 👏 - Anthony
I still bought callisto. Of course on ps4 pro. Since I still can't find a good ps5 deal. It is glitchy at times. But the patches make it better. Overall an awesome beginning to a potentially awesome series
I almost got scammed out of 1k when they barely came out and once I got back from outta the country from 2 years of trying to get it GameStop hooked me up w one in 2days after really trying to get one
I give it a 9/10 I enjoy it
Think the game if opened up a bit more with allowing the small amount of diverging paths to expand and also making the combat a bit more fluid/intuitive it be a very good game, the story is a bit meh but has good potential and is told in a very good way which actually made the bland story way more compelling than it had any right to be!
Looking forward to the story dlc and hope it delves more into the lore/creepy side of the game as it is pretty scary when it wants to be!
If there's a 2nd game they really need to double down on the horror and relax on the action, make the story more compeling for the world its set in, fix the combat to be more fluid and add more customisation to maybe suits like dead space 2 did.
Overall after finishing the game I had a good time but felt it was lacking and really had me wanting more from the game as the developers and team are obviously capable of it! I'd say 7.5/10
Josh duhamel is an amazing actor tho
I agree! Loved watching him in Las Vegas and Love, Simon @George.did9.11
He's pretty good here too, but the writers just didn't give him much to work with here, in my opinion - Anthony
They already fix the stuttering.
The difficulty settings are too goofy, I’m gonna slough my way through but seriously difficulty settings shouldn’t make you a two or one hit and the enemy take fifteen hits.
Next-gen level of stuttering lol. Yes I know they patched it but I still remembered.
Wahhhh i had to hit a bad guy 10 times 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It deserves at least an 8 tbh
its a good game . not very "horror horror" but a good game in general
ive never been so disappointed in a game where i swore in 3 different languages all while in "normal" difficulty. .
My 12 year old little brother wanted to play this I refused to let him play tho bc this game is sooooooo violent I don’t think a 12 year old should be seeing that level of gore ygm
I know I am one of the first ones on Xbox history to put a Xbox the Callisto Protocol Review. 😎
Just bought this today reminds me of dead space
Makes sense @wicked6696
It is from the same director that helmed the original Dead Space series, Glen Schofield.
Enjoying it so far? - Anthony
Oh no I put the game on hard and now the enemies are hard to kill!
I'm enjoying it, but the combat can get extremely difficult, especially when enemies gang on you in tight spaces
Git gud
Yeah, I agree @judgese7s
If the group are all melee-based foes, then it's manageable. But once there's a long-ranged attacker thrown into the mix, you really have to prioritise them which can be tricky.
If you run out of GRP, I found it best to just use the geometry as cover. Get a few hits in then move when the attacking enemy is staggered - Anthony
i play one handed on ps5 i can see me struggling later on hopefully not ive been fine so far
@@TheBetaNetwork thankyou i,lll keep this in mind im sma disabled player
I got the game for free when i ordered my cpu (or gpu u cant remember correctly) im at chapter 5 now, about the stutters i dont have problems with that it runs smooth.will i buy the dlc? Meh maybe would i buy a sequel meh maybe
i can’t believe people really way make this game to be amazing do they even play video games?
Ain't this games plot the Original plot of Dead space? I heard Somewhere it was going to be set in a Space prison.
Do you mean that a scrapped plot of the original Dead Space is what The Callisto Protocol turned out to be? @user-dy5ck3dw2o
Because I haven't heard of this before 🤔 - Anthony
@@TheBetaNetwork Yeah! I remember Hearing about the original plot a while ago, Then when I found out about the Callisto Protocol it Made me think of it, Since glen schofield Was Involved with Both!
My favorite thing bout it is how realistic it is with its mechanics. For example weapons, how they are either going on ur back, holstered, or on your side when u dont use them, and dont just disappear. Dead Space remake even didnt adjust that. (Oh and that cool attachment idea where every primary & secondary weapons share the same handle but each different weapon is a barrel attachment. Any unused barrels go into your little fanny pack thing on the side, makes sense
I’ll let them have it cause they didn’t make a good dead space game in a while.
It plays well on ps5
The games biggest flaw is its boring.
I've got to this tram station bit and constantly doing a task only for the same clichéd line of "Thats broken or blocked, you'll have to go here instead" got boring.
The ambushes were predictable and the enemies became more of a mild inconvenience rather than a threat.
I stopped playing as my enthusiasm dwindled to zero as I was hitting another generic enemy over and over only for another one to pop out of an air vent and I did the same slow bash with that... I was like I just want to get to the door so we can carry on.
But I figured I'd pretty much experienced everything the game had to offer upto that point so stopped playing.
There were puzzles? Lmao
7? You are joking.
I really don’t understand the hate this game is receiving! I really enjoyed it
I got it on sale for the Series X yesterday. It's on sale for $24. The game is pretty good to me. I don't understand the hate either
They need to take notes if they going to make a sequel, Im still going to buy it tho.
I know I’m late guys but I did like the game, is not prefect but is enjoyable enough and I actually thought it was going to be scary like dead space, it’s more creepy than scary.
Yeah bro out of all the games ive gotten this year id rather get a game that a bit off but has interesting ideas than some of the more bland games ive gotten
I'm keen to see what the season pass has to offer
I’m liking the game so far.
@@Topdeck101 yeah same, hoping they don't make filler content just to justify the people who bought the pass before content. I just see EA and other games do that a lot
@@drbuttfungus3477yea that is the worry these days

Talk about efficiency! You guys hammered out that review! How long did it take you guys? I'm seeing times ranging from 6 -14 hours? It sounds like you guys played on the higher difficulty?
It’s too soon for a review, personally I think you gotta play the game through 2-3 times, once on easy/normal (to get the impression that the average player will get) and again on the hardest/harder difficulties (to get a feel of how the game is supposed to feel because a lot of games like this the devs make a hard difficult thats tuned how they think is the best challenge)
Hahaha! Cheers, mate! @VDGMS

@@dodgecityrecords4685Game looks beautiful visually, the acting and story is great too, but It's the gameplay as he said, maybe they tried something like Sekiro or Bloodborne were parries are the key, but that type of gameplay isn't for these games, Its dodging is very simple that just gets very repetitive and boring, and selling the real ending in a DLC, plus adding more animatios apart from the base game is not pro consumer
@@GeoAlex1 I didn't think it's was repetitive although I can see why you say that, but it reminded me of the game The Last of Us..gotta maneuver around enemies to attack and gather items for health, supplies, and weapons. People overhype a lot of games like this and then blame the game when they are disappointed I like the game and it does need some polishing but it’s not bad like a lot of people say it is besides I like the combat since it’s different from a lot of mainstream horror games and if you block you take damage so your more prone to dodge and think what your going to do next

For the most part I think you're right, but I'm hoping that's a misleading statistic and actually, it's just because remakes are the thing at the moment, thus making remakes more likely to be successful simply because there's more of them.

@@TheBetaNetwork the movement is sluggish. The combat is wonky. Hardly scary. Just turn it into a movie, cuz I’m enjoying watching other people play it instead.
Fair enough! Yeah, it isn't very scary at all, although there are some tense scenes.
Combat does get robotic too, I must say. Especially on the higher difficulties, it turns into a slog-a-thon.
This would be interesting as a feature film, now that you say it. Apparently John Carpenter had plans to turn the original Dead Space into a movie, but it never got off the ground. Still, you never know what could happen, I suppose.
