- How to Soak & Bandage/Wrap a Horse Hoof
Riding Warehouse Crew Member Katie shows you how easy it is to soak a hoof and prepare a hoof bandage! This is a great skill to have because you may need to treat the hoof before or after your vet or farrier visits your horse. You will likely need packing material, elastikon, vet wrap, hoof pick, scissors, sheet cotton (or a baby diaper), hoof soaking boot or bucket, equifit tape (or duct tape), gloves, and epsom salts! Well done wrap! Perfectly described and illustrated.
This is very helpful! Thanks!
This was so helpful; thank you!!
What works really well to get the abscess out is Sauerkraut. 😉👍🏻 We use that all the time. Just under the hoof in the baby diaper.
What size baby diaper? Never purchased anything diaper wise. That looks pretty small
New born size usually works unless you have a draft or something of the sort
Great question! Baby Timmy is correct, newborn or size 1 diapers are appropriate for most horses. However, if your horse has very large feet you will probably need to get a larger diaper size or use an Equifit pad that can be customized to your horse's hoof: www.ridingwarehouse.com/EquiFit_Pack-N-Stick_Hoof_Packing_Tape_Single/descpage-PNSS.html . Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments! ~Katie, RW
