I had a chance to work for Google as a contractor (software engineer) for one year. This is what I found. Google loves to give coding challenge during the interview. Candidates love studying coding challenges online with every website they could find. Candidates nail google's coding challenge at the interview and got hired. Candidates write software with lots of bugs and software unable to scale for growth because candidates have no professional experience, only experience studing online coding challenge. Software now contantly needs bug fixing than new development. Software now unable to meet users' demand or takes too long to develop because resources need to be diverted to hiring more QA and BA to manage bug fixing. Google managers spend millions of dollars hiring outside software professional consultanting firm to fix the problems. Software now too big to fix and too costly to fix. Google managers now decide to pay consulting firms millions of dollars to rewrite the software from scratch. All this could have been avoided, had google managers focused more on hiring software developers with years of experience rather than someone who study online coding challenge to nail the interview.
Asking for a friend: What if I'm an Ex-google Ex-facebook expert who left google to see the world a bit and try out work at different companies, would Google take me back?
