    Thanks mate. As a German driving a Troopy in Germany on the Autobahn, when one of the belt ripped it was quite spectacular when I changed it on the side of the road after watching your video. Fortunately I do carry spare belts. Haven‘t used any in 18 years, but when I had to, you were a huge help.
    Thanks again buddy, the next shout is on me, when I come Down Under again.😎

      Yeah, I had a belt go on my old 75 Troopy 1HZ. It tangled with another and another. That left me with 3 broke belts in the middle of the night on a remote Queensland backroad. Hats off to the RACQ service guy I got out of bed. Had to go back to his shop for belts and it still took two of us and both of our toolkits to complete the job. Wench was so happy to be mobile! 🙂
      Lesson learnt. Never left the spare belts at home again!

    Removing the four mounting bolts on the A/C compressor allows you to move it enough to gain much better access to the top of your alternator. Thanks for the video! My alternator adjustment bracket broke and I lost the adjustment bolt. Your video is the first time I've actually seen what that bolt looks like and how it works. Even my shop manual doesn't show it.

    Thanks mate another guy you helped here, I knew where the nuts/bolts were for the air con belts but never exactly knew which 2 to loosen/tighten. Your precise guide showed me which 2 to undo/tighten and job was done in 5 minutes. Once again great
    video and thanks. 😉

    Thanks mate, great vid. Helped me change the belts on my 01 105 series. Would have been good to also show how you install the new belts as well, as that's where I had the most trouble. But, then again, I learned a lot by having to problem-solve myself.
    My alternator was pretty stuck and I spent ages trying to push it back into position. Ended up wedging a pry bar from underneath. Also, you need to tighten the adjustment bolt for the two smaller lower belts right up to get the right tension. The bolt doesn't start tightening the belts until it starts to push up against the end of the adjustment guide.

    Great video mate, quick question. Does it matter the brand of belts? or would you just recommend the calibre ones you're using?

    • @aussiesbeaut9730
      @aussiesbeaut9730 4 роки тому

      Harry Mavin Calibre are a Supercheap auto brand. I worked there at the time, so I chose to get them as staff discount was too good to turn down! But the Gates is a brand that many will recommend. Either that or Genuine ones. I’ve never found an issue with the Calibre ones. Still running them till this day.

    Hey Legend, cheers for the awesome video! Ill be heading to Supercheap tomorrow to buy the three belts. I have a 2001 HZJ78R . Do you know the exact belts (part number if possible?) I would need to get?

    • @aussiesbeaut9730
      @aussiesbeaut9730 4 роки тому +1

      Nick Although I do not know the exact belt numbers. If you have a 1HZ motor. They’ll be the same as these ones here that I’m using.
      My best recommendation for you to do.
      Is to pop the hood, and just above the on the fire wall on your vehicle. There will be a metal plate, that will read out the VIN number of your vehicle.
      Supercheap’s part system that they use (OSCAR is the system they use). They will be able to type in the VIN number into their search. & pull up your exact vehicle. Giving you the EXACT parts you’ll need.
      Instead of them trying to find your vehicle & making a mistake.
      The belts. Both smaller belts come in a 2pk together. But the large serp belt comes in a singular pack. Should be around $30 all up.
      Hope this helps, and good luck!

    • @aussiesbeaut9730

      Siva Poobalasingam why thank you!
      Plus yes. I am finding them brilliant! The output on them is quiet high, and plus the spread on them is brilliant. I used to run a light bar and spotties. But took the bar off as spotties is all I need for now. They are excellent quality.
      Comparing them to Adventure kings 9”. I personally find that they are abit better. Mainly cause of looks, and plus you don’t see the XTM lights on every car like you do the kings XD. They are brilliant. Highly can stand by them, and they are RUGGED as all hell. If you need a hand wiring them, lemme know. Might make a video on that too 😋

    How did u tension the alternator belt

    • @aussiesbeaut9730
      @aussiesbeaut9730 4 роки тому

      At about 4:34 into the video. I show 2 different bolts. The one that’s on the left side (not the one that fell out later in the video). The one on the left is the tensioner. The one that’s on the right goes into the alternator. With the one on the right done up (the one that I dropped). Go and tighten the one on the left until the Belts are snug, and don’t have much slack in them. DO NOT over tighten. As this will lead to damage to the alternator pulley or belt which can get expensive. Once you’ve done that. You can tighten the bottom bolt (the one I used the Breaker bar on). This will properly hold the alternator in place (please refer to Haynes Manual for Torque specs, as it’s been a while since I made the video and don’t quiet remember off the top of my head 😂😂).

    • @aussiesbeaut9730
      @aussiesbeaut9730 4 роки тому

      The Og fox there are multiple reasons as to why they might be squeaking. If it’s only started happening recently. It may be to do with the cold weather that’s now hit, due to the belt contractions with the multiple temp changes. Try tightening the belts and see how you go. If this doesn’t work. Try determine which belt is squeaking. If you can find the belt, and the pulley that it/they’re on (the bottom pulley holds 2 belts). You may need to check the pulley and see if it’s loose or not. If it is, try tightening it. If worst comes to worst. You may be up for a new Pulley. Hope this helps

  • @TimsBitsnPieces

    The alternator adjuster bolt is on TOP of the alternator so there is NO need to take the whole bottom bolt out, you just need to loosen it slightly and also NO need to undo the bolts totally as you have shown they fall out.. so if they are just loosened they DO NOT fall out.

    • @aussiesbeaut9730
      @aussiesbeaut9730 4 роки тому

      Yes. I just loosened it abit more to give a little more wiggle room. A little too much, that it fell out. But no biggie. 2 second fix
