i have some of the most insane nail polish for product shoots i've ever seen. there's a lot of color shifting properties in the bulk of the colors, heavy metallic flake, so getting macro shots with continuous lighting has been a massive challenge
Great video! I always dress in black when filming. Hiding behind a reflector with a a hole for the lens is genius. Having shot hundreds of hours of soccer I would love to do a manufacturer spot for soccer gear or a professional soccer club promo.
I liked your idea of hiding behind a bounce board. I think just like adding black pieces to key light to fake a window, similar result can be achieved by painting a bounce board with some similar details in the scene like grills, some flower pots or whatever supports it and then hiding behind the bounce board. But also leave some white space for the board to reflect some light 😅 else the entire purpose might just fail.
This was helpful, I'd love to see you guys cover more on interview lighting with reflections in glasses if you can. I shoot a lot of interviews and I'm not sure how to keep my lights/glare out of their glasses. Thanks!
I love to shoot a commercial about lenses cuz their round form gives a beautiful light-wrap effect. oh and I could swing the Aputure M9 over it to create that moody reflection. SWEETNESS!!

Wine glasses filled with red wine. That could have reflection challenges especially if you do want some atmospheric context reflected but not lights, camera, etc. The same challenge might be the case for a dark beer.
Beer, mostly to make fun of the hyper masculine fantasy nonsense that happens in them, it would start as a normal one but would go into Robocop levels of satire. Tacos, making a existencial short film and end with the line nothing has meaning and is absurd and stuff... So go out and eat some tacos.
