I dont think the impact frames at 03:56 were drawn by Ikariya. They're re-used from the impact frame sequence that you go over at 07:36.
The schedule could have caught up with the team, but I also think that the production desk shot themselves in the foot by hiring a team of idiosyncratic animators for a show where character design consistency has a lot of importance. There were definitely a lot of retakes, which is where the high enshutsu number comes from.

I saw your tweet after the fact, yes. I do think it's more of the schedule, given how insanely talented many of the animators were. I imagine the Kaijus and the uniforms/weapons had the largest line counts, and the latter had a dedicated AD. I do agree with what you said about the staff choice, but at least we got Arai explosions...

this have similar problems as solo leveling, some times the inbetweening make the action look really stiff even compared to the genga

i think i was mainly disappointed from the staff list, my expectations were too high, although an amazingly animated episode nonetheless
That's why you shouldn't always get too excited for an episode based on a staff list, it will kill your expectations immediately. But this episode was overal stilll entertaining though 🔥

I feel like the pacing is kind off with some of the episodes, i was more interested in the hoshina fight but they kept cutting away.
I hope there are more episodes focusing on 1v1 fights, but then again it requires more time to animate.
I think s2 will be an improvement.

I disliked the amount of camera-shake throughout this episode, tho. In animation, camera-shake should only be used for POV shots, IMO.

I won't lie i would like to see you break down Gachiakuta (2025) staff list to give us an idea of what to expect.
It's pretty cool how you know so much about animation, and yet you're not a animator yourself. I just go "ooooo pretty lines move"

Maybe it's not up to the peak of the industry, but yeah, it's still a really well animated episode.
If there are gonna be more seasons of KN8 there could be improvements. All the groundwork has been done so maybe the production will be smoother if there is more.
Also yeah, people were surprised that he is red but since he doesn't really have a colored page it's like this. I will say that he stands out that way, since going to the training grounds, you can tell him apart.

4:33 Wonky Perspective? can you elaborate on that? As an artist, I don't see much wrong with the perspective work in that shot
He kinda cut it a bit in the beginning part so it might be hard to see the problem there. But essentially, this character sidejumps from the building, away from the monster, and landing on the floor. The problem with that scene is that it makes the character look like he's jumping hundreds of meters away from the building in a very abnormal way.

Personally finding this show to be pretty underwhelming, kinda sad how this unravels tk be an immature shone with nothing special to offer. Also, kafka bringing insights to every fight feels like a cheap way to make him cooler/more useful as it makes zero sense for that knowledge not to be taught to every kaiju fighter. Animation did pop off last ep tho

The part where is you insight. You know Kaiju cleaner are more experienced about Kaiju parts and where their core should be. Because they cut Kaiju everytime. But for the Kaiju fighters they just have to fight. Cleaning is not their work. And for finding Kaiju core they need to kill it and see inside. Everyone has their own expertise. Like a programmer cannot be a electrical engineer. Just like that Kaiju fighters work is only getting stronger. For finding the Kaiju core they need hand on experience with cutting Kaiju to understand Kaiju body parts. And they hate cutting Kaiju body parts because it's disgusting. Not everyone can clean public toilet every day. Got it?
@@Takatou__Yogiri thats a poor explenation unfortunately. your programmer cannot be an electrical engineer analogy doesnt work, because it was clearly shown that kafka was not only useful but neacesery-they would have a lot of problems without his insight. Kinda weird how no one has thought to take kaiju cleaners and have them teach this extremely useful knowldege to the fighters. I think kaiju biology like reproducing systems and cores should be common knowldege for fighters, not an extra.
@@thenoblehorse2803 Same thought here, and is more noticeable when the sub-captain mentioned about this type of kaiju acting alone, and the reason why they were in group was because something leading them, i mean, they know enough to make that conclusion but nothing about those kaiju's weak points?
