Saw them at the Thunder Bay Blues Festival a few weeks ago and they were amazing - at first, I thought they were playing to a prerecorded bass track - I would really like to see them in an indoor concert venue.
Saw this guy the other week-just fantastic. That two rock amp is just amazing. Nice guy aswell ,got to meet him and he signed my CD :) Definatly in the league of many iconic players.
@vdeferens This song was originally done by the band Soulive, featuring Neal Evans on Hammond B3 and bass keys. You should check out his left hand on bass keys, it's incredible!
Hey Evan it's Jeansy! You internet celebrity rockstar. Sounds mighty fine. And I just got me a lefty cherry red version of that Tokai ES-120 a couple of days ago. Nice music guys
Yeah right thousands of players like Matt. You really can't see how good Matt is and that his style is really different from any other guitar player. Sure Jonny is fantastic too but no bad words about Matt.
This is an absolutely brilliant rendition of this song, and I am a huge Soulive fan. Fucking awesome. Any other instrumental covers out there that they do?
@vdeferens I agree!!! I kept LOOKING for the bass player! (& I am one) I've played with guys doing key-bass but it NEVER sounded like THAT! The crazy part is that his regular organ parts are SO counter to the bass lines!
Wow me too.. thought to myself first time my eyes saw this video, I must own that guitar no matter the cost! here I am today with my Es-125 alpine white.. great guitar.
i agree a real Bass player would really help, give that awesome drummer some one to be tight with, and free the keyboardist to play and not worry about a constant bass line
This is a great rendition, but must admit I am quite disappointed to see that the arrangment is exactly the same as the original Soulive version. It'd be nice to see them put their own spin on the tune.
That incredibly funky James Jameson style bass line is coming from the left hand of the organist while he plays a killer solo with the right! The guy clearly has two brains.
A country with a "blues scene" is one thing. Trying to insinuate or make the claim that a country invented it's own form of blues music is another. And I'm not the only one who is rubbed the wrong way by the way some English people think their country invented some new form of blues music because they just happened to play really fucking loudly in the sixties. Greg Allman and Miles Davis have also commented on it. The people who do that absolutely deserve to have their backs jumped on.
Will never get tired of watching this. It's my favourite Matt Schofield video. Just epic.
Geeeeze Jonny Henderson on Bass and Organ is AWESOME!
Never heard a keys player swing a bass line like this. Amazing. Not many bass players could play this!
While playing an amazing solo
I don't know what to say.. I could listen to this all day long!
SO good to see British Blues still alive....Awesome shit!
Yes indeed they were amwsome too! I immidiately bought there CD 'Dressed to win'.
Great,great,great!
soulive cover
That's one SWEET 335... played like it deserves to be played!
THE expressive guitar EVER!!!
It's not Gibson ES335 but Tokai ES120. Gibson costs $3350 and Tokai is only $1200. That's true.
Undoubtedly one of THE guitars of history!
Saw them live on friday the 11th.
Best concert ever.
My favourite guitar player, now!! Chapeux!
Fived & Faved... Great stuff!
Saw this guy in new york he was awesome
Matt is one of the best guitar players now !!!
Saw them at the Thunder Bay Blues Festival a few weeks ago and they were amazing - at first, I thought they were playing to a prerecorded bass track - I would really like to see them in an indoor concert venue.
great band ....matt excellent ... johnny never stops grooving and he's still doing it ......certainly the best blues guitarist in the UK.
i really like this guy, he is the master of blues.
great sound and playing!
Saw this guy the other week-just fantastic. That two rock amp is just amazing. Nice guy aswell ,got to meet him and he signed my CD :)
Definatly in the league of many iconic players.
The Blues belongs to the people, and that video is cooking really cooking!

Awesome !!!
My guitar tech just shared this with me. Matt, Jonny and Even just killing it. Bass player? Who needs em' haha
Same, bought it too, and had it signed by their guitarist
Bought Ear to the Ground by M'Scho Trio too, and had it signed by Matt and Evan ^^
Awesome.
I don't think so, I remember seeing that there are only touring Europe, but you may never know.
Saw them last night!
@MattHurleyHimself
YES! ...one of my faves!
Matt is up there together with Eric Clapton and Peter Green... top three British blues guitarists of all time!
In P60 right? I was there too! Fantastic show.
good call. thanks
Yup,he does
Awesome timing and feel. Less is more. Then you want more...
❤❤

Yea,it's either that car or the amp,I might opt for the amp myself.lol Cheers
Tokai 335 into a Two Rock Amp
How can you not notice it.
Hey Evan it's Jeansy! You internet celebrity rockstar. Sounds mighty fine. And I just got me a lefty cherry red version of that Tokai ES-120 a couple of days ago. Nice music guys
The line up of the Matt Schofield trio has actually changed, they now have a different drummer and a real bass player, Jonny is still on the keys.
Хороший исполнитель блюза молодец !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice quote from Herbie Hancock around 7:00 mins!
Yeah right thousands of players like Matt. You really can't see how good Matt is and that his style is really different from any other guitar player. Sure Jonny is fantastic too but no bad words about Matt.
He's a one of a kind player indeed
Awesome tone ! Tokai all the way :)
7:33 - 7:39 is probably my favourite part :)
3 JUN | JAZZMINDE 2016 | PORTUGAL | MATT SCHOFIELD
This is an absolutely brilliant rendition of this song, and I am a huge Soulive fan. Fucking awesome. Any other instrumental covers out there that they do?
These guys are unbelievable. Anyone know if they're comin to the US soon?
Not everyone's cup of tea but ill have 6 sugars in mine SWEET!
@vdeferens
I agree!!! I kept LOOKING for the bass player! (& I am one)

7:00 it goes OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF THHHE HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKK
@Stratolespaul80 - a Tokai 335 that's been refretted & outfitted with Fralin Unbucker pickups.
Organ man must of listen to Tower Power Chester Thompson Squibb Cakes!!! Nice playing!!
Must? I think he heard it very well....
He makes a 335 sound like a strat!! Tone is in the fingers!!
Sounds like a short scale humbucker loaded guitar not a strat.
jesus, now I wanna 335
Yes, it's still part of the Canadian blues scene. Even if I didn't call it that, I wouldn't jump on the back of someone who did
Please play this at North Sea Jazz!!!
where are the videos of you and your family?
This video made me buy a Tokai semi acoustic guitar like this, not a gibson es335.
Tokai= less brand image, more sound quality.
Wow me too.. thought to myself first time my eyes saw this video, I must own that guitar no matter the cost! here I am today with my Es-125 alpine white.. great guitar.
@dasfdasf3 Thanks for the tip, I will. :)
@Rickoholic believe it or not, thats a Tokai ES335
6:50
the drummer is about to cream himself
the audience don't move because they are like: "WTF???" ...
what is the song he's teasing from 6:35 - 6:48? is that scofield?
4:16 broken crash
what kinda guitar hes playing?
What about blues that's played in Britain?
then its not the matt schofield TRIO anymore is it, since there are four players.
does anyone know why amp he's playing through?
Phillip Leggett Here you go friend, read all about it for yourself.
mattschofield.com/gear/
+Phillip Leggett Fender Super Reverb. 67 i think
Matt was a skinny guitar player ... once :P
It's the Blues. If a Canadian bar band launched into a blues song in Toronto would you call it Canadian Blues? Of course not.
i agree a real Bass player would really help, give that awesome drummer some one to be tight with, and free the keyboardist to play and not worry about a constant bass line
he's style is like JM
This is a great rendition, but must admit I am quite disappointed to see that the arrangment is exactly the same as the original Soulive version. It'd be nice to see them put their own spin on the tune.
No bass player?
+Beeastman123 Nope. Jonny does the bass as well!
That incredibly funky James Jameson style bass line is coming from the left hand of the organist while he plays a killer solo with the right! The guy clearly has two brains.
That's a Organ Trio!!

Wow, great attitude, dude. You've got some major anger issue to work out. Seriously.
hes great but over playing a bit imo thats too bad :( they should slow down and relax on the groove moree
false.
There's no such thing as "British blues".
Great stuff, but it's not Blues. This is Jazz or Jazz fusion.
It's a cover of a Soulive tune.
Awesome!
