i have a DM810. Did you mind sharing what crossover settings for the kappa perfects? the perfect mid imo fits the sound signature of the perfect set more then the normal kappa. the normal one has a more laid back slightly distant sound where the perfect is a more in your face at least this is from listening on youtube. I'm a master mecp installer who used to compete with team image dynamics years back when Eric owned the company. I actually have both sets and I went with the perfect mid. the old style dome midrange was very nice also but it was even a bit brighter. I have all three mids. the perfects are a killer set for the current pricing. the perfect mid does like power though. it sounds so much better active bandpassed with a decent Amp in them
I would love to use it when I go active the problem is that it doesn’t fit in my dash and I’m not wanting to do major modifications for now the regular kappa is great.
I feel like it has less to do with the actual driver, and more to do with the crossover itself and how it colors the sound. I was eyeballing a set of 20MX’s to complete the Kappa component build in my Legend, powered by CT Sounds amps. Might have to get a set of 303s as well and play around with a DSP on them all a bit. Perfects are overpriced imo, I’m seeking to make the regular Kappa’s win multiple SQ competitions and put myself on the map, start my dream of reestablishing good sound and high efficiency design (think Paul W. Klipsch’s original mentality towards sound) I hope to be on the map by 2030 so that systems don’t suck once electric cars are forced onto the consumer.
@@bleachstain9785 you can get the 300mids for 159$ new from a few places right now so not really overpriced compared to the 303. My issue is I'm reading the reviews on crutchfield and a lot of people are complaining about the mids developing noise after a few hours of playing and even with the replacement from warranty they are still having issues. Since I have the perfect 900, I'm thinking I'm gonna have to find another 3.5" midrange from another company.

That Toyota actually has very decent placement (aimed tweeter sails) dash mids are usually good too. You might enjoy A pillars some day. I don't know and I don't understand why they got rid of the perfect 3 and 1/2 in. I think it's better just from the UA-cam listening I've done and visually looking at it being solid in quality built
Exactly why I don’t like it. It does get loud and maybe sound good next to the tweet and midrange but using factory locations it’s hard to get to sound good especially at low volumes. I’ve learned that midrange driver usually want a lot of power to make it sound good other wise it sounds death or echoy
No issues with the difference in ohms? The kappa are 3ohms and the perfects are 3.5 ohms. I have a 3 way active with jbl stadiums and it is wayyyy too bright for me so I tried the kappa 3” and it’s still bright. I’m going to switch the tweeters but don’t know if I should try the 3.5 inch perfect in my dash
No that will just make it worse. Are you using a DSP? Try disconnecting the tweets or midrange and see which ones are to bright but chances are your tweets are over powering your midbass or midrange. If you don’t have a DSP try raising the crossover setting. If that doesn’t help then lower the amp gain on the speaker. Also make sure all your speakers are in phase.
Do your 300 perfects sound ever go in and out? I ordered two pair of them and I seen a lot of people complaining about the connections with the wires and the sound going in and out
