He's right on 6,000 rpm. You have to work your way up to them. Best to keep 3,000 rpm or slower. My 6k Makita once snagged it's own power cord, literally broke the power cord in half, got tangled and slapped the bejesus out of my shoulder.

When you have a 6kRPM grinder how can you tell if you are doing 1500rpm or 3,000?

Some 6000 RPM grinders are set strictly to 6000. The variable speed grinders have a dial that allows you to change the speed. So if you don’t have a dial then it means you are running strictly a 6000 only
