The Best TV Show in the history of the Galaxy, the Universe, and the Multiverse, Brian. Your videos are a very important part of my daily life. Four more weeks and I'm gonna hit 62. Thanks for comparing John Irving with Stephen King
Irving is one of the few feminist male authors (Pat Conroy, too). But neither of them get preachy. The stories and love and compassion speak for themselves. They’re brilliant.
I’m just starting The Last Chairlift (not my first Irving), and last night I said to myself, “Man, this guy absolutely loves women.”
In order of authors that brought me delight & adventure :Tolkien, Brooks , Donaldson, King & Irving ! Thanks Brian for this video and the one you will make on Irving novels!
Christmas twice this year! The Cider House Rules and The Last Chairlift. John Irving my favorite author (next to Mr Durfee).
i miss the day when we didn't view people in terms of their political views, when politics was boring and people avoided discussing it too much.
on another note, it would be interesting to see a list of books you've DNF'ed this year, and why.
How about your top 5 John Irving and top 5 Pat Conroy novels please? I have only read 3 novels of each and wondered about your favorites. I agree both are excellent writers. When you said we don't know ourselves I thought maybe I should get to know myself better, so I am taking myself out for dinner and a movie. Hope it goes well.
Cider House Rules
@@aleidadiaz2261 Thanks!
Def one of my favorite writers as well. Thanks
I'm halfway through Dennis Lehane's Black Bird on Apple, and it's quite good. I DNF'd John Irving's The World According to Garp; it seemed more like a plot summary than a novel.
Out of curiosity, how many pages do to read in a day?
My roommate swears our apartment is haunted, but I've lived there for 158 years and never saw a thing.
Nice review. It has been some time since you’ve read a Joe Pickett novel…
I need to read more Joe Pickett!!!
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS yes also I recommend CJ Box’s Cassie Dewell series. I know you read Back of Beyond, trust me the series gets better.
Wow, the audiobook has a full cast.
Not really. There are a few script sections with a full cast but the vast majority of the book is a single narrator.
Pretty lukewarm reviews from NY Times and Washington Post.
