Thanks for all the great videos guys. I for one would love a video on more to setting up a percision hunting rifle. Ring lapping, optics, hand load vs factory and more.
You're really good a these vlog style videos. Thorough and concise. I know it may be off brand kind of, but I'd love to see a video of you cooking one of your favorite cuts from an animal you harvested. Always appreciate what your team does. God bless.
Excellent video sir 👍 I have put solvent on the lense of the optic with a brush once, any protection caps or a plastic bag over the lenses can keep you from problems. But Im not this proficient in rifle cleaning.
I shoot custom rifles: on Macmillan stocks for Remington Pre-70 , jewel triggers, pillar bedded, scope rings lapped, leupold scopes, tight necks, brass formed for wildcat 17/222 30 degree shoulder (MY COYOTE GUN LEFT HAND ACTION) 30 g hollow point bullets…… Extremely accurate: easily shoot over 350-400 yds depending on the wind! Kills coyotes no problem: bullet hardly never exits…. One thing: you never cleaned locking lugs ? Inside chamber and on the bolt. I’d recommend for cold weather shooting. Where I live easily get down to over 30 below( COLD). We can’t use muzzle cans in Canada . I like how your shots are damped quite a bit plus The wide open hilly gullies and flats stretch for ever!!!! I enjoy your videos 👍
Thank you for covering the types of caliber specific rods you use. I also have a few different coated rods for my rifles. Also, my comment identifies as 1,000 LIKES.
Hey James I appreciate your guy's content. Take a look at possom hollow bore guides their caliber specific but are amazing. I wont use anyhting else. I actually turn my own out of derlon but pretty much the same idea. Once installed there is no fuss about moving around on you
Also My favorite cleaning chemical is called wipe out. I foam it and let it sit overnight sometimes 24 hours. It honestly only takes about 7 or so patches to clean it completely down . if you are ever bored after you think you have your barrel is clean from the cleaner of your choice, use wipe out and let it sit for 24 hours. then patch it out. it will amaze you on what you thought was clean but really wasn't.
Great video How! How about using instead of using a nylon brush a copper or brass brush for faster get the fouling out of the barrel? What do you think about it?
A keen eye will note that those are highly specialized rags you are using; definitely cut to precision dimensions, and specifically customized for a 22-250.
@@ONEILLOPS Naw. Sorry. My poor attempt at dry humor to embellish your admirable intensity at everything rifle craft, to exacting measures - even with your blue cleaning rags. Apparently it was too dry. I won't quit my day job. 👍 Keep your powder dry.
What is the benefit of running an independent thermal system in front of your daytime scope vs a stand alone unit like lots of guys use? Just so you can have a daytime setup that stays consistent after the sun goes down?
This is a NV unit, a PVS 30 to be exact, the benefit is exactly what you mentioned, being able to use the same rifle day or night without having to pull your day optic or change zero.
So here is a question? Say you dont "break your barrel in", in essence you are doing so every time you clean your barrel correct? If copper plugs up the tool marks, and cleaning removes said copper fouling, then your next shot is burnishing the barrel right? In theory, are you accomplishing any more by "breaking in a barrel" with a shot, clean, shot, clean routine, vs say 50 shots clean, 50 shots clean routine? I am having a hard time making sense of the theory.
seems like a super short barrel for a 22-250, what kind of velocity do you get out of it? I see a lot of 22-250 guys running like 24" barrels which seems a bit much to throw a can on
Super knowledgeable dude. You’d hate how dirty my guns are. I too have a lot of high end pieces. But mine do not get near the attention yours do lol. But, I do store them in a climate controlled safe room.
Dude my patches are just too tight…I got a new Tipton 1 piece carbon rod and jags for 3 rifles and only one that’s smooth is my 1:12 fn spr .308. It shoots…cleans up…ands solid as granite man and with 110v max man could really hurt some coyotes….i use imr4198 and there as accurate as 168s and explosive..
Great video, but................................why did you oil the barrel and totally dry the chamber? The chamber needs protection just like the bore, until such time as when you're ready to use it again.
Because I don't use a "chamber conditioner"... The chamber is exposed to heat and extreme PSI, BUT.................... It is not exposed to the raw friction, heat, fire cracks, etc. that the bore is. Granted they are part of the same piece, but function completely differently and I treat them as such. IF I were using blued barrel that was prone to rusting, yes I would be more concerned with the Chamber aspect. AND on my AR gas operated platforms, yes I am more detailed on the Chamber portion because of how much dirtier they get. I'm not telling you not to oil your chamber, I am telling you (Like I did in the video) make sure you don't have any solvent or oil in your chamber prior to firing.
Here's a good interview barrel cleaning and break in with John krieger. I think he knows a little bit about barrels lol ua-cam.com/video/3d0-FOEpAuw/v-deo.html I stopped doing break in. After shooting f-class for five years and going through numerous barrels I realized it was a time and money.
I've always thought some copper in the barrel is a good thing, fills in all the rough edges. I only fully clean when accuracy is starting to degrade, carbon gets cleaned every 200-300 give or take.
Some copper is good, which I why I foul it, and which is why I note, there is still some blue tint on the patch, not distinct blue streaks, but a blue tone, which is indicative of "some copper".
Man, be careful with your muzzle mate! Accutech can't get the supplies to make them, and the mold to make the clamp end got cracked. So after speaking with his wife it sounds like Muzzle Mates are a thing of the past! 🙁
I'd like to see more about the gear you and your team use. Not just cleaning and maintenance, but the different rifles you guys use.
Yeah, because most normal people can't justify 10-15K on one gun.
@@carveroutdoors the only way that gun is running $10k is if you factor in the night vision, quality of glass, and suppressor.

Fantastic video! Always putting out good content!

Thanks for the avesome video, this is something i have looking for! Its really good information for beginners. 🦾
Good info! Keep it coming.
Can't wait for some yote oneillops carnage this season 😁
There's plenty out here, seen 5 this morning 😂 they should be smacking them forsure
Just a note the boretech is safe in the barrel and acts as a mild rust inhibitor. So it is okay to leave in the barrel.
Looking forward to the reloading video.👍

Love your videos. Can you do a load work up for heavier bullets say 55-77gr. I sure learn a lot watching your vids!!

For your set up look into a pattern maker vise. For a rifle vise they are the best.
The only comment I have is use a lens cap when cleaning, great info.

custom barrel clean up so much nicer then factory stuff. i would use a bore guide to.
Love your videos. Everything and every move you guys make has a reason. Why do you shoot your group at 110 yards?
Love the videos.! Do you lube the bolt lugs lightly before shooting as well?
Reloading video be great too
Yes, but that would be on the bolt break down vid if I do one.
On the 22-250, What barrel length are you running?
Hi guys what twist rate do you use on your 22/250 rifles great pod cast and videos thanks
Is that a thermal or a night vision clip on interested in a clip on thermal like the iray ch50 but having trouble trying to find one.

Good tutorial watched several of your vids and Im looking in to a 6mil creed and just curious what is the stock on that particular rifle 👍?
