    Thank you for the thorough demonstration. One issue/area I didn't see addressed is that it may take several minutes for enough urine to accumulate after being clamped. Other procedures I have seen indicate to clamp the Foley tubing immediately distal to the collection port for 15-30 minutes prior to collecting; this allows urine to accumulate in the bladder so it can be aspirated. Otherwise, if the bladder is being completely drained by the Foley in place, there won't be enough urine in the bladder to collect. Am I missing something about this in your demonstration?

      Thank you for your insightful comment, @s.landers8190! 😊 You're absolutely right-clamping the Foley tubing for 15-30 minutes before collecting the specimen allows enough urine to accumulate. We'll be sure to include this important step in future demonstrations. Don't forget to subscribe for more helpful nursing tips! 🔔👩‍⚕️

    Can you use the same needless syringe if you need more?

    • @lecturionursing
      @lecturionursing  Рік тому +3

      You only want to access the port once with each syringe to help keep things sterile!

      Anyway they could Integrate the Suringe & Sampling Bottle to expedite, simplify, & economize the process? ❤

    How do you get it if there is no port?

      The Golden Standard even if there is a port is to install a new catheter unfortunately.

      I appreciate the extra wording. New nurse here and prefer a step by step. There’s a lot to cover in nursing school and after a while if you don’t practice it you tend to forget parts of it. 😅 being out in the field is so different.

    HORRBILE

    • @danw5414
      @danw5414 8 місяців тому

      Why because you believe it has to be a sterile catch. Meaning of new Catheter has to be installed to get a clean catch is this corrected.
