*sorry for the long essay but here we go ,*
This specific form of singing style is called indian classical music , people practice and perfect their skills for decades starting from a very young age . Classical form is usually a bit modernized when used in Indian pop . Ofcourse this isn't all but I can't even begin to explain the entirety of these ancient techniques and musical genres . I would suggest watching a detailed explanation video online .
Indian classical music is a rich tradition that originated in South Asia and can now be found in all corners of the world. It's origins date back to sacred Vedic scriptures over 6,000 years ago where chants developed a system of musical notes and rhythmic cycles .
Indian classical music has two foundational elements, raga and tala. The raga, based on a varied repertoire of swara (notes including microtones), forms the fabric of a deeply intricate melodic structure, while the tala measures the time cycle.Indian classical music is very closely connected to nature, taking inspiration from natural phenomena including the seasons and times of the day to create ‘ragas’ or musical moods and many time cycles or taals’ that have been further codified.
    *For Efra ,
Which instruments are used in Indian classical music?
Many different instruments have been used and developed for Indian classical music such as:
Sitar - The sitar is a plucked stringed instrument used in Hindustani (North Indian) classical music. The instrument flourished under the Mughals and it is named after a Persian instrument called the setar (meaningthree strings). The sitar flourished in the 16th and 17th centuries and arrived at its present form in 18th-century India. It derives its distinctive timbre and resonance from sympathetic strings, bridge design, a long hollow neck and a gourd-shaped resonance chamber.
Tabla - The tabla is a membranophone percussion instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent, consisting of a pair of drums, used in traditional, classical, popular and folk music. It has been a particularly important instrument in Hindustani classical music since the 18th century, and remains in use in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal,Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Vocal - Many instruments aim to emulate the voice in their technique and expression. In both North and South India there is a strong tradition of vocal music ranging from extensive elaborations of ‘ragas’ to lighter songs and romantic or spiritual poetry.
Veena - The veena comprises a family of chordophone instruments of the Indian subcontinent. Ancient musical instruments evolved into many variations, such as lutes, zithers and arched harps. The many regional designs have different names such as the Rudra veena, the Saraswati veena, the Vichitra veena and others.
Mridangam - The Mridangam is a percussion instrument from India of ancient origin. It is the primary rhythmic accompaniment in a Carnatic music ensemble, and in Dhrupad, where it is known as Pakhawaj.
This is just the tip of a giant iceberg , hope this summary explains some of the basics .

These two are definitely very good with their understanding of music. Especially the girl , I think her name is Waleska , she has sharp musical sensibility. She got immediately when Shreya was doing the sargam that it is an arrangement of notes. Many western reactors ask “what is she saying , is she rapping etc”. In the previous video , she quickly identified the folk song also as “folksy”. This is what knowing and analysing is.

The rifts or accidents you talk about is done by almost everyone trained in Indian classical music be it Hindustani or Carnatic. It is the essence of our music. Every song is based on one raaga or a combination of raagas and the rifts they do are within the boundaries of that raaga. A raaga consists of the musical notes i.e sa re ga ma pa da ni and every raaga is built around these notes and the it is left to the singer to bring out the essence of the raag they sing. Everything is almost onstage improvisation

In India, music is studied not only for fun and for expressing art, but it is studied as a curriculum almost. There are styles that stretch all the way in the North like Sufi music to the ancient carnatic styles in the South. Children are drilled with the basics relentlessly. They are taught like they're in a class and when they make mistakes, they are censured! It's beautiful. There is deep respect for music in India. Especially the traditional forms of music. Now of course, this has evolved into the modern takes of music in India. Even there perfectionism is always the goal. Apart from the jingoistic Movie songs which have their own charm in every region of the country. We're a musical nation!

Indian classical uses so many notes between the major notes that western world thinks are "proper" to use. It's way more complex than western music, needs a lot of training to even comprehend the intricacies of Indian music.

These are predefined "runs" of notes (known as "Sargam" in indian classical) .. it's like singing a predefined set of "do re mi fa..." ...in India classical we call it "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa dha ni Sa".. there are thousands of such combinations pertaining to different moods of human emotions....
This is more of a layman explanation...you would have to spend an entire lifetime to know the depth of Indian classical. Hope this helps ...keep up the seeking and good work.. Cheers!! 🤟
