      difficult for me to film whilst scratching at the same as its a hand-held video camera but i will have a go in future.

    David - I'm keen on getting an FES glider myself. Can you please tell us how many minutes of FES time did you use? Did you take off with a full battery? Did you self launch? Apparently the FES is not very useful in serious sink, did you turn off the FES while cutting through and major sink? Can you tell us a bit more about when you realised you were out of battery and made the decision to land out - was the indicator show dead battery or did you run the FES until it cut out and you realised - okay time to find a field?

    You are not banking nearly as steep enough, you have a banking angle of only about 25 to 30 degrees! You need at least 45 degrees...Come to the UK, summer 2023 to Bicester...we will teach you how to soar properly! MOTORGLIDE at Bicester Airfield in Oxfordshire UK..check it out on the Internet.

      Hey Andrew can I also come over for lessons. I'm looking for the best place to get some more real cross country lessons. So far the "Bay Area Soaring Associates" (BASA) seems to have the best program. Do you guys do any special lessons?

      @@markplain2555 yes, there are places which do cross country courses, Lee at the moment, doesn't really have the necessary kit to do X country courses, he's now got 3 K13 Gliders so, his bread and butter is trial lessons and 1 day courses, but, its possible within a year or 2 he will have a glider to do X country courses. I think Lasham in the South of England, do do them. Check them out on the Internet.

      I can give you some help if you want to come over to the UK, I don't have a glider at present, but, we might be able to do some stuff with a K13 from Bicester, if the wind strengths aren't too bad next summer.

      @@andrewcullum8437 Andrew thanks for the kind response. I used to fly for some 10 years!!! Then stopped for 20 years. I'm back now and trying to climb back on "my horse". I have bought an HP-18 am getting it upgraded, in the meantime I have just gone solo and am focused on getting into X-country. I live in Ontario but am keen to travel to go and get some extra lessons. I see Whales has some amazing soaring. I may well be reaching out to you.

      Wrong! You dont thermal any steeper than you need to, depending on the width of the thermal. You poor pommy, you have obviously never experienced a fairdinkum AUSTRALIAN thermal!

  • @joemanganese
    @joemanganese 2 роки тому +2

    You dont need a FES, you need a proper instructor on how to thermal

      thermalling while filming is not that easy.

    I did stop watching at 23 sec... // reason: you did chose a title by purpose which should makes us believe that the fault lies by the FES (or meteo)... = I do not like that !!

    • @FESGlider
      @FESGlider  2 роки тому +1

      Dani read my description "I made a few mistakes which meant I used up my entire FES battery capacity and outlanded"....no fault of FES but battery capacity is limited and you have to use it wisely..I didn't....
