    Sadly I cannot afford to become a patron as I only have a small fixed pension but I like to think that by subscribing, liking 👍🏻, commenting and watching all the adverts that I’m making a small contribution to the success of your channel and in turn, your renovations.
    You’re an adorable family and deserve every success and luck. Bountiful blessings. 💚🌸😊

The entire place serves as a testament to Daddy's skill and love of family. And wait till they can watch the vlogs. That will be riotous - memories for the vault.💗💖

      Oui. 😍Love the notion of that authentic French "farmhouse" mixed w/an industrial restaurant vibe.
      💲Fabulous find on those IKEA "SS" cabinet doors too. Great that they stocked up on some doors & discount hinges too.
      😉 Using metals, some iron, etc. will also keep some surfaces safe from dratted wood worm infiltration🐛.
      🤔 Had a pal w/a micro apt who used a similar stainless steel clad door screwed on top of a solid vintage cabinet for her island. She added big industrial locking casters to make it counter height (as well as roll it out of the way when not needed). It made a handsome contrast of old & new. Plus, it was a perfect surface for rolling all kinds of 🥖dough🥐!

    I watch Thomas Johnson Antique restoration. My house is a 1913 Victorian. I use epoxy in damaged wood. Mix the resin with the hardener, add the stain. The old flooring then looks great without having to replace it. West System 105 resin, 206 hardener, and Mohawk powder stain. He texts me if I ask him for advise in one day. He restores furniture, but he has helped me save 100 year old furniture, and flooring.

      👀 Looks the same as 🇺🇸US -- except for ⚜signage & 💶.
      Been spoiled with an IKEA located in Burbank since they first came to the States. Used to live in walking🚶‍♀️distance for the majority of that time. Now, I'm 15 minutes away by 🚗 car.
      Well, in 2015 they broke ground for the largest IKEA in the whole of 🦅America. It opened in 2017 only a mile away from the original location to big 🤹‍♀️fanfare 🤹‍♂️. The first 26 ppl in line got a free leather sofa while first 100 got a free chair. Kids got a free cushion.
      🤸‍♀️It is 456,000 square feet. It has a 50% larger showroom & marketplace🛍. The self-serve warehouse is 3xs the size of the old. It has 50 decorated room settings (vs the 17 rooms of old). 🍽The restaurant now has 600 seats. It has 1,700 parking 🚘spaces available.
      👍At the time, they hired 150 more employees which still did not seem nearly enough to staff this behemoth. (🏢The old building is supposed to turn into an apartment complex.)
      Sadly, our IKEA had 🚫closed🚫 for quite awhile in 2020. 🎉It is finally operational again, but not sure the hours are back to normal yet.
      🙏Pray the scientists🔬get a handle on this C-19 pandemic & create a safe vaccine💉 for us all.

    I'm not huge on the aesthetic of steel, but for keeping things clean, you can't beat it. Plus, looks great all polished, while not being too precious. And fingerprints on steel tells you that handwashing needs to happen. Wood doesn't always reveal its dirty li-ell secrets.

    • @teresacarle294
      @teresacarle294 4 роки тому +1

      Not familiar with forced air. 🤔 I do understand some ritzy models (way out of my💲price point) have🌡heat & air 🌬 that can be ⤴️directional⤵️. The 👩‍🍳cook can decide whether or not the 🔥heat🔥 is directed from top or below depending upon what is best for the dish🍜.
      😍 Fell in love w/the wonders of convection. Tried a bunch of experiments on an Air-Fryer small appliance that uses the same convection technology.
      😁 The idea is you can get the mouth feel of crispy fried foods w/o needing to deep fry. 🍟Am a pommes-frites girl as well as a falafel fan, but don't need stuff submerged in a vat of hot cooking oil 😣. Also made beautifully roasted 🥕veggies & bread🍞 in it. My pal loves his hot wings!
      😉 Only wish we got the fancier model with the dehydrator capability. It would be cool to make our own veggie chips (crisps).
      ☮🌼🦋💛🦋🌼☮

    Hi. My house is 60yr old and the frame is made of hardwood which is almost impossible to put a nail into. Apparently the hardwoods here in Australia fossilize once they're cut. Perhaps it's a characteristic of certain types of timber. Loving your channel. Cute little ones too.

  • @tpike9482
    @tpike9482 4 роки тому +1

    Hey Dan, here's a thought about some of the old beams & boards where you have a good side & a bad side. You might try to plane or cut the bad side off & then laminate a board or piece of lumber to the old original beams or boards & then expose only the good side of the old beams & boards. That would allow you to have the same integrity of the original boards or beams while still looking antique. Laminated beams are often used in the USA to to span long/wide widths. Some even have a flat steel rod sandwiched into the wood, providing even more strength. The outside of the new piece can be aged & stained to match the old wood, if needed.

    Whack the oak boards with a hammer all the way along the length. That way you will know for certain before you waste anytime on sanding. If it is rotten, the hammer will leave a big or little hole depending on how rotten they are! It is also very satisfying.

      🦋 True. In most circumstances,
      I usually err on the side of wanting to maximise every inch of household space. In rural
      🌾France imagining all the ppl wanting to visit.
      Plus, a lofted space above kitchen would get quite toasty too, esp. in 🌨Winter❄. Could make a nice 📖 reading nook📚
      or guest space 🛏.
      🤔 Maybe they could sponser a work-away volunteer. 💪Lots of folks would love to help them labor on the property🌱.

    I love a yellow sticker, hope those kitchen doors were the right size.

    Ah, I know the IKEA in Clermont. We go to Lac Chambon about 30 mins from there every April/May. Beautiful area

    I like IKEA Teflon fry pans , they last a long time before they start to stick. I got a pantry from there and it has full pull out shelves and it it’s great.
    I could wonder for hours in IKEA but not my husband.
