I think you will really like that tent. My wife and I have a 4 year old Big Agnes Copper Spur 3 that we have used quite a bit for backpacking. It’s held up really well and we have always stayed dry. Have a great birthday and an awesome time at Forgotten Angels.
Will be interesting to see how your experience grows. I started out with my backpacking gear on moto trips, hammock camped… then learned I needed a bigger tent to be able to throw wet jackets and gear on a chair overnight in an large enough vestibule. Now have a Redverz moto tent.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy the campout. I'm looking forward to your "after action report" on the tent. I've been using a Eureka Midori 2 that has close to the same stats (outside of weight) that I like to use when not hammock camping.

I’m a city boy myself but watching these videos motivates me to possibly do a small weekend camping trip. $550+ for a tent though seems a little much, especially if I don’t plan on using it that much
You can get a tent from Amazon or Walmart with a footprint, rain cover, and nice doors and vents for under $75 if you're only going to use it a couple times a year. These expensive tents are high quality and meant to be used every day in every condition for a year or more while you're touring the world. Walmart will get you by for weekend trips, and it will still last for a long time

I used to motocamp, but haven't in several years. It got to the point where I was lucky to get 90 min of sleep a night and when I'm packing up every morning and riding all day, that just does not work. I might try it again this year, I have some ideas that might help me sleep better. Some of the best rides involve camping, like BMWNorCal's Range of Light annual ride. It's a Gypsy ride, which means you only know where to show up on Day 1. Each evening, you get handed the route (and GPX files if you want) of the next days right. So it's all a mystery. And they do really good routes. It's always a great ride. I've missed doing that one every Labor Day Weekend.
I can tell you're a veteran camper. You're going on a trip with a new tent and you're setting it up at home before you leave. It helps spot any troubles and makes set up once you get where you're going so much easier cuz you've been through it. And you've already torn it down and repacked it once, too. Plus, you get to demo it for your loyal viewers.
SIX MINUTES? 😱 It takes me longer than that to make coffee.
When it comes to tent sizes, I subtract 1 from what they claim. If it's a 2 person tent, I consider it a 1 person. That way, I have a little room to move and for my stuff. Yeah, even this heavy guy can fit in a 1man, but it's just not really practical. I need room to keep my moto gear dry. Some I can probably stash on the bike, but I usually wear my moto boots and don't take extra shoes. I wear tactical swat boots, so I can walk in them all day. They're waterproof and have a ceramic hard toe (almost equiv to steel toe). 5.11 tactical ATAC storm is the model for the curious.

Happy birthday. For a less expensive bullet proof 2 person tent that is only slightly bigger in the pack I recommend the Alps Mountaineering Meramac. Ive been using one for years on my motocamping trips. All of them in rain or so it feels. Best $90 I've spent on gear.

We fish and hunt and have the same to be true, you get what you pay for. So if you can make it happen, paying the extra for convenience and longevity is always a plus (at least with certain items).

Left this morning from home and am only a couple of hours away right now.
First time camping …. I’m going! Good thing it’s not far from home this will definitely be a learning curve.
I have the 3 man version of the exact same tent since Big Agnes tends to run small at least their ultra-lights. It packs a bit longer but still fits perfectly in my Versys top case. I've gone 100% ultra-light for all my moto-camping gear so everythings fits in my top and side cases while keeping the weight below spec. The other nice thing is I could use it for backpacking if I wanted to give that a try.

Thanks for the review Jess. A little on the pricey side for a tent I would never get/use. I would gladly sacrifice something else to carry a 3-4 person tent. You can't have too much interior space.
There’s another cool thing about the copper spur. You can set up the ground sheet and rain fly first, then get under the fly and set up the tent - all nice and dry under the fly. This way, when it is raining the tent body does’t get as wet while you set up the tent.

Currently drooling over the Wingman of the Road - Goose, which is the polar opposite of this tent 😂 Thick canvas so it weighs about 10kg, is giant when rolled up, and can only barely fit one person on their back! It looks so cool tho 🤩

I do want to do this some time. Unfortunately this year my docket is filled. Got heart surgery on Monday (should be same day), then pay off my car and go to Amanda Zito's Rocky Mt Roll in August. Maybe next year for Forgotten Angels? That tent looks only slightly smaller than the Lone Rider ADV tent that I just got. I still need a new bag and sleeping pad. might have to use your discount code for that.

If you think that is small, try the SlingFin Portal 2P that I use - even stronger than the Copper Spurr, same size, higher, can hold snow with trekking poles, cross stability for high winds…
i still like my tucan tent yes its big and heavy but being its the tend sleeping bag and sleeping pad all in one it works for me

pre happy B day. the tent looks good. a bit pricey for me unless i was a serious camper. i forget the name of it but i seen a "cast iron" like pan being made but really light weight. its made out of high carbon steel so it cooks and is treated like cast iron but really light. wish i could remember the name of it though because i think those would be great for camping. good vid

Familiar with big Agnes products. I’ve done lots of research and found Alps mountaineering to be great, Well made products made by an American company at a very reasonable price. Might be something you or some of your followers could look into. They pretty well match up feature for feature to big Agnes products.

You lost me at the price. Nice tent,but I use the cheapest and waterproof them,and use a tarp for underneath and cover for my bike when camping. Love your videos, keep up the bike equipment ones,and a MAJOR Happy Birthday. Ride safe,and keep those two wheels down!
