i love this song too much. i've been listening to it for close to 40 years now and no matter how hard i try - i just can't seem to make time stand still. damn. 71 years old and counting !
The lyrics here have become increasingly meaningful as I've grown older, reminding me to slow down and enjoy every moment as I'm experiencing it. Another top pick from Hold Your Fire is Mission, whose lyrics speak of finding your passion and holding onto it; Alex's outro on the performance from A show Of Hands is one of his most passionate guitar lines ever. Have a beautiful day, and Rush on! 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🐐 🐐 🐐
I remember this song when I was in hospital and it happened to play in the lounge for the kids that were mobile. Wow, that was a long time ago. As well, this is the only song where they had someone else come in to add to it.
This song is the only time Rush used a guest vocalist. Aimee Mann was in the popular '80s band 'Til Tuesday, and they had a big hit called 'Voices Carry' which is also worth a reaction if you haven't already heard it. I joke that this music video gives me motion sickness, but the lyrical premise is universal. I personally feel the '80s marked Geddy's best vocals. You mentioned you liked jamming out to instrumentals; Rush had many of them. If you haven't already, I suggest reacting to the live version of the song 'The Main Monkey Business', live from the R40 tour. It was their final tour, in 2015. It's one of my favorite instrumentals to experience that 'getting lost in the music' feeling.
After Neil passed, the US Army band did a cover of this song in remembrance. It is a beautiful rendition and a fitting tribute to Peart. It is well worth a reaction. Cheers! ua-cam.com/video/aAPSK_cV5n0/v-deo.htmlsi=JrieKRH9cDS9-w0-

All the feels☺️. You could tell they were starting families at this point in their career and it affected them and their writing.

The reason they were together for so long is they got along with each other and they had very similar goals. They were also nice guys!
I'm used to Un-bearded Stan. 😮
Please react to RUSH "Dinner with RUSH"
The US Army band did a beautiful cover of this song as a tribute to Neil that's on UA-cam. 😊

Rupert Hine, who produced the album Presto, also has credits for background vocals in the album’s liner notes, although it doesn’t mention which song
