Hello friends,
and welcome to another by request song tutorial! In today's session I'll be breaking down how to play the rhythm guitar parts to Hank Williams' 1952 classic "Your Cheatin' Heart." We'll begin learning my personal way of performing the intro section, before applying an essential country strumming pattern to the verse and chorus sections. Let's get started!

thank you for your great generosity, and for all that you do!
Just ran across this lesson and joined. I'm old school (72 years Old). This was one of the first songs I learned back in the 50's, unfortunately, I just learned the basic chords. This has inspired me to learn the steel intro lic and lead. Last night when viewing, I tried the hybrid picking, love it as soon as I master it. Lol. I also really like the harmony in the chorus. Now, I just have to dust off my pedal and give it a try. Thanks.
Great job man, classic country has the coolest sound, love those old pedal steel type licks! Good singing and harmonizing to!
Nice, thank you...😊
Awesome job!
Nobody! Explains it as clearly and completely as this guy. Most videos are just a quick gloss over. This guy is #1
Nice! As soon as my guitar is back from being repaired in gonna learn this! Hopefully theres some more Hank williams in the works !
What you only have one guitar!
Another great lesson. Thanks for what you do.
Great teacher really progressing with this man
I’m just a struggling beginner BUT have improved immensely thanks to watching the Best in the West !!! Your teaching method is #1
Great video. Can you please tell me what microphone you are using?
When i try to request a song. It says my email is invalid. I tried different e-mails. How can i fix this?
Very good lesson. The best teachers always start off with the complete song demo. Thank you for posting this song.
This was way too overproduced for me to learn. Please when you’re teaching do it bare bones we don’t need extra production quality.
Is this the original key?
Yep, I believe Williams jr. also played it in Cmaj as well.
+swiftlessons Thanks!
Awesome stuff thank you! Will you be breaking down the solo?
Liked your voice keep the work mate ,thank you....
A question I've had for a long time: when do song writers know when to change the chord while strumming the accompaniment of a melody? Put another way, why do melodies require the changing of chords and when? Thank you.
Great question. Chord changes occur after a specific number of beats, usually 4. The chord you transition to is dictated by the melody modulating to a note that exist inside of a different chord. So let’s say on beat 5, my melody landed on a C note, that would tell me as a rhythm player to transition to a chord that includes the C note, perhaps Cmaj, Am, or D7 depending on the key I’m in and the feeling I’m trying to convey.
Amazing. Thank you.
U r such an awesome teacher.
