I really like this idea. I tend to have too many things floating around in my tote/brief case and this looks like it will help me get a handle on it all, instead of constantly sorting and re-sorting. Thanks!
Checking on the "To Do" video. BTW love this and think it will help out.
This is brilliant and I have implemented it and keep it with me in my briefcase/tote. My categories are To-do Lists, Errands/Med/Dent, Empty at work, Empty at Home, Phone calls to make, Bills to pay, Ready to Mail, and Banking. Love it; it's really giving me a sense of control. I can't thank you enough.
+Mary Herje You're so welcome. It's as relevant as ever. Just this week I created two of these folders for clients. Hope it helps!
This folder is exactly what I need to take with me on the go. Thanks for sharing!
You're so welcome! It's a little workhorse.
Hello Kacy,
Loved your video, found it very helpful! I think we try to do so much on our phones/tablets/computers that we forget how an idea as simple as this works best and can make our hectic lives so much easier! This has helped SO much! I'm watching all of your videos and happy to say I'm learning a lot from you! Just brilliant!
Thanks a million! As a mom/wife who works full time this makes the transition from home to work and back again so much easier! ☺️👍🏻😉📒📎🗃💼☺️👍🏻😉📒📎🗃💼☺️👍🏻😉📒
After reading your blog post about this and seeing your video, my sister was going to order it for me but we couldn't choose a color on Amazon so we kept putting the order off. Well, I found something like it last weekend at DEALS for $2 :-) I'm excited! This is something that will be in my purse (it's a total Mary Poppins mom-purse) over the weekend for the random papers and receipts I collect over the weekend and when I'm out and about with my kids. Then I can empty it out at night. Can't wait to see your "to-do sheet" video. Thanks for all your help!
Enjoy! It continues to be a tool that I successfully use with my clients. You're most welcome!
Thanks for another great video, Kacy. You came up with a simple solution for those of us who try to be functional from mulitiple locations! Anyone who is a freelancer like me knows what it is like to go and work in a client's office day, a meeting the next, work at home because of a snowstorm the next. This should be on a freelancing blog, they'd love it!
One thing I'd worry about, though, is that things might fall out. I'm thinking that a slightly alt version might be to use the zip-close clear file pages for Staples Arc disk-bound system...you could add or subtract folders as you need. For instance, I could carry a USB thumb drive for a project in a plastic sleeve to share between computers. Maybe I'll make one and show it to you! But I still need you to come to Boston and help me with my office!
Hi Fran! I'd love to come to Boston (once that windchill dies down…)! I do know the Arc system, but can't exactly picture the pockets you mention. You're right, things are indeed liable to fall out. This is the Achilles heel of the system! I really like the idea to share this with a freelance blog. Can you recommend any?
Hi Kacy, can you share what is on the front of this folder? The "cover sheet"?
What a great system! Right now I try to only limit bookkeeping if I bring any work home. But I can see how this would work for me - one for work and one for home/work from home to do's. TFS!
Glad you like it! They really are helpful as long as you commit to going through it on the regular.
I am also implementing your NO file cabinets and got some open file boxes for my brand new Freedom Filer.
Going to add it to my Amazon cart right now. Those are just the kind of papers I carry in my bag. A regular folder jumbles everything together and an accordion file ends up being too bulky. This looks like the perfect solution.
It really is the perfect solution for so many of my clients! Enjoy yours.
This looks like a great balance for me. I've tried over and over to use a paper calendar, but honestly, I'm more into using my phone as my calendar and google on my computer and tablet. Since they sync, that's great. However, I can see this as a great addition to what I am doing now, to compliment my daily routines. Thanks so much.
That should have been "complement" not "compliment"! Thank you again for all you are doing to help get people organized!!
You're so welcome. These have worked wonders for many of my clients and I hope it does the same for you!
Are you coming back? I love your videos and it's been a long time since you posted anything.
Yes, I am! I have a number of videos "in stock" that need editing and many more video ideas. At some point this year I plan on getting into a groove where I post one per week. Thanks for the nudge!
*****
=)) you are awesome!
Are there any other folders like this that you would recommend since this video was posted?
No. I still use these exact folders and buy 5 or 6 at a time from Amazon. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any that are more aesthetically pleasing, and just as useful. I need to design one!
Kacy, please talk about how to identify the categories. What's a process I can use to find the threads and group things properly. I find that I end up creating categories that aren't really relevant and then everything becomes a one off. Where are the themes? What are the strategies?
Hi Kacy,
I am still using this! You mentioned another video where you discuss to-do lists. Is there a link for that video and if so what is it please? Thanks!!!
-Mary
Eeeek, racking my brain here and I don't think I ever ended up doing a video on to do lists. There is SO much to say and teach about to do lists. Sorry I never made a video, but will likely make a few in the future. Stay tuned!
OK, thank you! This organizing device has changed my life...seriously!
Mary, thank you for the update! It really is a powerful little folder. After teaching folks about them for years, I finally started using on myself a few weeks ago! Turns out, it does live up to the hype!
That just might be a solution to my Box/Pile of Papers that mysteriously forms on my kitchen countertop.
Glad you like it. It is indeed a wonder-product for exactly what you mentioned!
Is this a home made folder or can it be purchased? Love it and think it would help me!!!
Sorry about that! It can be purchased. It went live before I could make all the edits. Link is at the bottom of the description now. Click "Show more."
Got it! Thanks!! I ordered them off amazon! You rock!!!!
+175Boomer I don't see the name of this...I need one! I am going to order one from Amazon as soon as you let me know!
+Kacy Paide I am new to all this and UA-cam. Where do I find "show more"? Thanks. I love your videos.
+Jean Berardi there is a link below. under all her social media referances
audio has improved on videos! really like these openings though...cute.
It certainly has. The sound on some of these early ones is admittedly horrid! I was so sick in this video too. Thanks for watching!
Hi Kacy,
Hope you will be posting new videos soon !! 😀
More videos coming soon, I promise! I have a bunch "in stock" that have just been edited in the last few days. Just need to start trickling them into my channel.
i didnt see the link :(
Sorry about that! It went live before I could make all the edits. Link is at the bottom of the description now. Click "Show more."
good tips but the sound too low.
Truly sorry about that. I know. :-( My lapel mic has since been fixed. :-) I was also coming down with an epic cold and struggled to get each word out with a killer sore throat!
***** Thanks Kacy. Making one for my parents and one for myself. I love low tech organizational tools!
intro really loud, video really soft! Can't hear!
+Nicola G Very sorry about this. I completely agree. Since then, I've discovered lapel mics. :-) Very hard to edit once it is shot.
good to hear :-)
all the best for the future!
