- You can say you were there when Mizuno arose like a phoenix from the ashes. Thomas and Robbe review the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro, a race-legal, World Athletics-approved shoe with a 50 mm midsole stack of Enerzy Lite and Enerzy Lite+ foam. It's a legitimately great shoe, and probably a top-three option for racing shoes right now. Available in January 2023 for $250 (Kakizome colorway available March 2023).

This is such a good review 😃👏🏻 So thorough and detailed. Swerving the stack height regulations with that dramatically tapered heel is genius by Mizuno.
Like for Thomas and Robbe. Thanks for this information about mizuno. A nice saturday for everyone.
So good to see Mizuno finding their mojo again
I will for sure get this one tested out. Great Review!
I work in a Running Store and the biggest thing about Running shoe brands is that they aren't all running off the same sizing chart. Mizuno runs a half size small and Hoka runs a half size big.. These 2 companies are the more popular companies we automatically pull in a bigger or smaller size then the customer is in for proper fit purposes. Salomon is also a company on the trail side that fits a half size big. Unfortunately sizes aren't universal.
I agree, Mizuno runs 1/2 size smaller.
Bought only one and ended up giving it away.
NB 880 runs half size small and 1080 half size big... I also work in running retail ;)
I've found the complete opposite - I'm between us12 and us12.5. The mizuno wave rider 26 fits perfectly in the 12, while both hoka clifton and mach5 I had to size up to 12.5.

Mizuno runs perfect on my size
interesting shoes, curious about it. I love the "Squadra di corsa", very cool, bravi
These do look interesting. And actually look innovative. Mizuno make some of the best football/soccer ⚽, and rugby 🏉 boots in the world. Will be nice to see them step up their game in running too.
The medial half of that midsole with the cutout looks like it was semi-cc'd from the Aurora BL and more recently the Puma Fast-R. Interesting how they found a loophole to make an illegal stack legal. Wonder if the USATF will have to make an amendment with retroactive application 😮Love your reviews both on YT and written. You guys always make me laugh!
By the rubber coverage in the heel, this looks like it can work great for heel strikers that land in edge of the heel and roll through midsole and toe off. Outsole looks pretty durable.
The shoe looks are 🔥. Its great to hear they set a ground zero to build from. I know they have the potential to build a great product. I still have my Mizuno baseball glove from high school and college 😂
I haven’t run in a Mizuno shoe in at least 10 years. Most recently digging on the Saucony endorphines or the ASICS Meta. These mizuno’s man…delicious. First run in mine today was delightful. I hope they keep this up.
The Wave Rider 25 was a really decent shoe. I know people will complain about 12 mm drop, but there are not many of those left on the market.
MIZU- YES!!!! But that sizing issue is giving me pause.
These look absolutely bananas
That looks fire 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the very nice review!
Can you please compare it to the prime x?
Which is more fun to run , which is more stable and which one of the 2 do you believe is more efficient for marathon racing?
Thank you.
It's almost 2023... no one needs to smash in their big toe to use an innovative shoe. So many options. What a time to be alive.
They undoubtedly look rather fun.
Cannot wait for you guys to review the new Hoka Challenger ATR 7’s
Mizuno Wave Musha 5 is one of my favorites.
When I started running again, about 12 years ago, the wave riders were my go to shoe. But I’ve not run in a mizuno shoe since the wave rider 18. This is the first mizuno since then that has got my attention again. Great review gents!
Intriguing super shoe. I wonder if its geometry and how it gets you on your forefoot accentuates the pressure on the big toe in the toe box.
looks rad.., I can’t mess with these.. but these may excite a few ppl
Been a proud mizuno hater for years, but I may have to give this one a chance!
Mizuno does have a clean press toe, from the arch through the upper and down again.
The sensitive top layer foam probably crushed the toe box a bit.
What’s in the Bag. Ohhh God what’s in the Bagggggg
These are sick
Design reminds me of the ascis noosa tri
Exciting shoe nerd stuff. I hope this great tech gently rolls down towards lower cost more daily oriented models with more toe box room (like saucony speed 3)…
Thanks. My wave rider foam seemed bouncy and to unstable so asics. Righteousness!! Be careful! Tadpole.
In that colour way it’s probably going to be the best looking shoe of 2023 ❤
Hope I can fit in it tho I tend to need width in the tow box and sounds like il need to size up
I wonder if they will release the Wave Duo Pro here in US? Its basically this shoe without the heel foam.
I saw some Japanese videos of that shoe. Those look insane.
MIZUNO NEVER LEFT, BABY
The pattern reminds of Marvel Venom.
I wish they brought back the Hitogami.
I bought rebellion pro for long distance marathon running. It's my first time running a marathon. I ran 5-10-15-21k before. Does it tire my legs in marathon running? because we can't get support from the heel in any way. we have to run with the midsole and the toe section all the time. and I see a lot of wrist flexion in the videos, will this cause us trouble? I don't want to return these shoes.
ngl totally had a chance to call it the Mizuno Super Spike
Dopamine shirt! Radness
Anyone in these have any trouble with claf pain or achillies tendonitis?? Ran a 5km PB first time out in them and since have suffered with calf and achillies problems
I want that colorway, on a jogger shoe
Is this shoe even out in the UK? Can’t find it anywehre
Not til January
I LOVE THIS SHOE! It makes the running experience so exciting, partly because of the sensation on foot partly because it looks awesome. I try not to use too much because I want it to last forever. Mizuno sent me a size bigger, it solved the issue of length but also got some heel lift. Runners knot was needed. GO BUY IT.
Rafael, I'm very interested in this. I use AAAP3 and Saucony EP3 to compete, with Vaporfly. But the geometry of Mizuno is more interesting. The foam is PEBA? I love the soft bounciness of ZoomX or PWRpb.
First thing I thought was: oh, it's a Puma Fast-R. But nah, this is different. Kudos for wearing Diadora!
I noticed the Diadora too!
In japan, the mizuno stores will give you some comendation that :
If you can't run between 4:30 to 3:30 Km/Minute in about 1 hour yet, then don't use this shoes. Instead use the Rebellion Flash to train your speed to reach this shoes.
Бренд" Мизуно" по качеству материалов кроссовок для бега номер 1 в мире.
Pointless comment but I kind of cringed when I saw the clips of those gorgeous shoes with those gray and green socks 🫣 They would look sharp as hell with some black tights or plain black socks. Man, I love the look of these shoes. I can’t wait to try them. Also I thoroughly enjoyed this review. You guys just seem like you’re such fun to be around!
Please review some Altra shoes like the Via Olympus and Torin. Narrow toe boxes have started giving me issue. This shoe looks cool, my first running shoe was a Mizuno.
Via Olympus review incoming
@@Believeintherun Great!
I don't run concrete.
I've never done the HOKA trip.
I mean, yeah; I do Run concrete . Only very rarely.
💣bas
Looks like a Craft CTM Ultra Carbon…
Look at the FBR Concept running shoes. Mizuno copied the idea from them!
Looks dumb 😕. But I'd have to try it .
If it’s red instead of black, it would look like a bloody murderer shoe.
the shoes are ready to make you fall. seem risky in that shoes
At first glance, I thought that someone just splashed some black paint on a white shoe by accident.
This might be the most comfortable shoe in the market at the moment, but it looks really really bad.
I would never dare to go out with these things on my feet even if I was paid to do it.
Like an 80s Marshall Amp. 😆
Its not Mizu-NO its Mizu-YES 🤣
“You will live to see man made horrors beyond your comprehension”
This looks like a splash of black paint sprayed all over a pair of white shoes…
I think you nailed it.
First?
No one cares
Ugliest shoe I have ever seen. But looks comfortable
Many of the "super" shoes are ugly. The Nikes are ugly too. But they are function over form. They are designed to help a runner go faster. That takes precedent over how they look.
I think it looks amazing!
Love them, very fast and enjoyable, however since I started running in those, i got hamstring problems and I can't rid of it 😕
Looks horrendous
Been a proud mizuno hater for years, but I may have to give this one a chance!
I'm a proud Nike hater myself
@@macewindex564 same here. Is any brand more overrated and over-hyped while selling cheap made (in Vietnam) products at a premium price?
@@Sabundy Hey man I just like my air zoom victory’s
@@sjeffy5137 it's understandable regarding your hate of Mizuno. In running they have ossified and been making the same tired old stuff for several years now. Which has caused them to fall behind in the whole super shoe race. I will give them build quality any day though. Their stuff is well made if boring. Hopefully the Rebellion Pro is the start of them waking up and actively competing in running again.
@@Sabundy I just can’t do the 12mm drop and the strangely fitting uppers, 10 is already pretty high imo and it’s why I moved away from a lot of Nike stuff too. I ain’t a 0 drop purist though so don’t get the wrong idea. 4-8 is the sweet spot.
