    Hey everyone, Queen has by far become my favorite band ever and it would be my dream to see them live while it’s still possible. Unfortunately i don’t have the money to be able to do it. If any of you could help me that would mean the world to me, even just $1 could make the difference between me being able to go or not. If you want to help you can donate through my paypal link in the description or with the “Thanks” button to the right of the Like button. Of course if you can’t that’s totally okay, and i completely understand :)

    This wasn’t music, it was a masterpiece by two incredible legends from different ends of the industry spectrum. Never will we have the likes of this again.

    While this is not opera, per se, it is sung with a famous Spanish soprano. Years prior, Freddie had gone to the opera to hear another singer, but when Montserrat sang her part, he was in love with her voice. Long story longer, they finally met when she overheard his interview stating hers was the best voice out there. The two actually had fun singing & improvising. (She was not a stuffy diva, nor was he). Montsy asked him to write a song for the upcoming Olympics in Barcelona. He complied and this was the result! A gorgeous blending of their two very unique vocal styles. They went on to record a complete album of all new compostions by Freddie. Resulting in the record also called "Barcelona", which is my favorite of his 'solo' projects.

    Wow 🤩 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ Freddie was a perfectionist and because they didn't have enough time for rehearsal due to Montsy s busy schedule he didn't want to risk it 🤩he was diagnosed with AIDS at time but his voice was amazing as ever 😍he told Montsy that he wasn't sure he'll be around for the 1992 Olympic games that Montsy wanted to sing it together live, dear Freddie died November 1991😭

    Montserrat was the number 1 operatic soprano in the world at this time and until her death. Freddie truly admired her and was so nervous to meet her and have her sing one of his songs. They ended up making an album and this song was played at the Barcelona Olympics as was intended. Sadly Freddie had already passed so it was not a live performance.

    Isn’t this collaboration amazing? Freddie doubted he could prove his worth against opera great Montserrat Caballe. He came into contact with her after he revealed she was his favorite performer in an interview, after seeing her sing alongside Luciano Pavarotti. They met for the first time in Barcelona!! ❤❤ Gotta THE GOLDEN BOY next!

    this brings me to tears when I see it . I can not name any other singer , performer, and songwriter I know that held a stellar career with one of the greatest bands on Earth , had multi platinum records , and legendary status with nearly every other artists in the industry of ALL genres from Pop to Rap. Then can stand on stage and hold his own with Monsterrat Caball'e, one of the greatest opera divas of the 20th century. Just absofreaking lutely unbelievable! Rest In Peace to both Freddie and Monsterrat. Freddie you and Queen inspired me into a life of Music and performing .. Someday I hope I can thank you when I reach that Lofty music hall in the sky.

    Freddie was so much more than a rock singer, he was a brilliant musician, an excellent singer, songwriter, storyteller. He had an eclectic musical taste and the range to sing operatic songs. Montserrat Caballé was one of the most famous opera divas of the last century. Montserrat was brave enough to take the risk to sing with a rock star, because she recognized The Musician in Freddie instantly. If you like opera, you should listen to Freddie's favourite aria sang by Montserrat called D'amor sull'ali rosee.

  • @susanengland3919
    @susanengland3919 11 місяців тому +3

    The song was performed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe, who Freddie declared to be one of the most beautiful women he ever met. Caballe requested that Freddie write a song about her hometown, and he did so, in Barcelona, a song about meeting a lover in a breathtakingly beautiful city. Mercury had befriended the operatic soprano Montserrat Caballe and had long admired her music. In 1987 and 1988 they recorded a whole album of pop-operatic material. >>
    This was supposed to be the theme song for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games held in Barcelona, Spain; however, the organizers chose another song at the last minute due to Freddie Mercury's untimely death at the end of 1991 from AIDS, to avoid controversy. However, the song was still performed at the opening ceremonies, Caballe performing live to a backing track featuring Freddie's vocals.

    Thank you Trevor, another great review. Please continue with The Golden Boy and How Can I Go On. Freddie's Exercises in Free Love was basically a demo for Montserrat as he sang her part. She put words to it and sang it at one of her performances giving Freddie full credit and introducing him as composer to the opera audience. That song is also on the album, along with The Fallen Priest etc. Mike Moran and Tim Rice were heavily involved in creating this lovely album. Mike Moran was the pianist for Dave Clark's songs "Time" and "In My Defence" that Freddie sang for the musical production "Time" that featured many top performers of the day. I think "Exercises In Free Love" will blow you away. Please review that one when you have the opportunity. Well done, as always

    Hey Trevor... thank you, I always enjoy Freddie's singing... and congrats on your pronunciation of Montsy's name, that was perfect... BUT, where did you get the idea it was lip-synced??? Also, this was two years before he really got sick... blessings.

    • @TenCapQuesada
      @TenCapQuesada 11 місяців тому +1

      Indeed. As a general rule opera singers do not use mic's, that's why they train their voices. I must say, of all the reactions to this, and all the comments, this is the first time I've ever come across the suggestion that they were lip syncing. You are right about their breath in the air, too. To suggest Montserrat Caballe, of all people, would lip synch is just downright disrespectful.

      @gen81465 have you evidence they were not? How about this? You can clearly hear him singing backing as well as the main singing. Also look at the other live songs in which he magically sings 2 lines at the same time, in particular 'How can I go on'. The fact that this is identical to the studio version, as in totally identical should be proof enough.
