These sellout politicians will never talk about why exorbitant profits must be made by corporations to provide basic human needs.

The usage is not the issue it's all the extra BS charges added on, there was a time when the providers had to provide the service and we paid for what we used deregulation is killing us!!

Shutting in the coal fired systems which supplied 65% of Alberta's power was a very BAD idea. Not only were those plants the cleanest burning plants in the world burning cheap slack coal they are now burning Natural Gas instead. So a commodity that we need to burn as fuel to keep our homes warm is been burned at a massive rate to provide power. Not only that but because gas is a commodity the price goes up with more demand. The Boiler design at those power plants were never meant to burn gas. The Thermal Density of pulverized coal slurry is way higher than gas and you can not get enough gas into the boiler so you loose thermal efficiency. that means a loss of 8% to 10% in total generating capacity. So instead of Alberta been able to electrically self sufficient with the odd day using the import grids from Montana, Saskatchewan and BC Alberta is importing power EVERYDAY at a higher rate. in the case of Montana and Saskatchewan supplies those are coming from Coal fired plants so what did we gain to go Green. On top of that every power plant lost 500 to 600 workers due to the coal side been shutdown to a tune of 2500 to 3000 skilled workers been put out of work and the communities where these people lived were decimated. Blame that idiot Knotley for this green signaling.

The additional fees on utility bills needs to be investigated. Gouging the Albertans is definitely not fare. Okotoks gets 30%franchises fee to have have natural gas delivered to homes in Okotoks. Does that seem fair I think not?????

Twenty Years in the future. The last Nuclear plant built in Canada was proposed in 1988 and finished in 2001. The last three proposed were held up by Atomic Energy commission Canada red tape and were never built. Pickering power is starting to shutdown there last 6 of 8 reactors next year with the last one going off line in 2032. Those reactors were built in the early 1960's and are at end of life.
