My stepdad is a security guard, and thankfully the only scary thing he's encountered is the amount of hours his company likes to squeeze out of him (it's mostly infuriating to Mom and I). Thanks for the stories Let's Read!
Same here. In any security company you have security guards calling off sick or else not showing up to work. What usually happens is the shift security guard has to work four hours longer and two shifts over, that guard has to come in four hours earlier, so both of you cover the in-between shift missing its security guard. That happens a lot. Often off-duty guards may get telephoned, asking if they want the overtime by coming in to work on their off-day. Sometimes they say, yes, and sometimes they say, no. In any security company, if you are a reliable, dependable security guard, you can count on a lot of overtime to cover for the sick guards. But like any human being, you see strong, stoic people, I mean, mentally and psychologically, versus weak people, not physically. I've seen six-feet plus tall dudes who call off sick at the first sniffle and are always taking one to three weeks off. Then I've seen short, skinny guys or old guys who are absolutely dependable and reliable. But companies tend to treat the good and bad workers the same because of fear of lawyers and litigation over unfair workplace practices accusations.
As a Security Officer myself i can confirm the hours are the most scary part i think even in the military i had more free time 😅 but i like it anyway 😅
For the campus security guard; I am an ex-cop and let me tell you this, a domestic issue is literally the most dangerous situation you can walk into. Period. Emotions are running high, people are upset, angry and usually under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It can be an absolute nightmare! Cops and private security should NEVER walk into a situation like that assuming they are safe. Many law enforcement officers have been wounded or even killed walking into a situation like that and had no idea how volatile it can be.

The moral of the drunk rugby players story is...DONT GAMBLE. To use the immortal words of Billy Joel..."You cant afford to squander what you're not prepared to pay."
I live in a trailer. Its elevated like most. My window is pretty high up. If you were to stand next to it outside and I was laying in bed I could move the curtain and we would be face to face with only a piece of glass in between us. We also have a motion detector light that shines in the yard. It occasionally turns on which gives a creepy and unsettling vibe in my yard. I was always terrified that I would turn over at night and be face to face with a stranger. It didnt help when my curtain barely covers the window and I get a clear view almost constantly. It always bothers me, but I manage to ignore it. One week we had a truck drive into our driveway every night about 2 am. It was loud and revved up since we live on an incline. I never thought much of it because he would always pull in, pull out, and turn around. It wasnt a problem since we had farm hands work late in the night for our neighbor. It was just mildly annoying. However, one night I woke up to the same truck only this time the headlights were brightly shining into my window despite my crappy curtain trying it's best to keep it out. I was annoyed and grumpy coming out of my sleep. It took only one second later and I jumped out of bed and was wide awake. I realized two things. One, my driveway is towards the other end of my house so there was no way his headlights could shine into my window. Two, the light seemed to move around although the truck was loud but idle. It was a flashlight. Terrified, I ran to my parents room fearing a break in. My dad ran into the living room and turned on all the lights. I assume seeing the lights the man left our house afraid he would get caught. Rather than call the police like I advised, my dad decided to get into his truck and drive after him. In about 3 minutes my dad called us after finding the dude parked at the end of our dirt road. According to our dad the man seemed high or drunk. The man claimed that he was running low on gas and lost and was coming to our house to ask for some although he had been to our house almost 4 or 5 times the previous nights. After hearing this sketchy story my mom took it upon herself to call the police and since we live almost 15 miles out of town dispatch had a cop stationed further out come check it out. The cop came and made sure we were alright which reassured me. However, the cop found an empty truck where the man once was. He reassured us by saying that he probably was out of gas and had someone pick him up, but I know that wasnt true. He had been there multiple nights before and I'm certain he had a flashlight checking out our place. We never received a follow up from the police or any information on the truck or man driving it. I still think about what would have happened if we hadn't known he was at our house. I also think about what would happened if I had looked out my window. Maybe my worst dream would have happened, maybe I would have came face to face with a stranger... Its not an extremely scary story but it's a scary experience. Its terrifying to go to sleep after something like that. It absolutely destroys your sense of security inside the place you call home. I can tell you now that I will never forget to lock my doors. True story.
And then she says she hasn't worked bc she went straight to being a stay at home mom from college... Did she not realize obviously she wouldn't have experienced sexism in the workplace when she hadn't ever been in a workplace 🤦♀️ (not that there's anything wrong with being a stay at home mom tho)

In the second story this female security guard did nothing at all as they fought for the gun, not a single bit of help in trying to get the gun away. Then the first words out of her mouth was emotional manipulation. "I understand if you don't want to see me again." She wasn't consirned at all about that cops safety or wellbeing.
That’s so messed up she should be happy that she’s being harassed? What is wrong with some people I would have quit on the spot if my boss had that little respect for me and my safety
29:15 - Story #5 I would LOVE to know who the celebrity was that stayed at the luxury hotel and stabbed one security guard many times and the OP (head of security) who was slashed on his forearm while blocking the knife stab aimed at him! The entire room was more than just trashed, it was totally obliterated! That dude (celebrity) had to be on some hardcore drugs to over power the security guards and not go down until he was smashed in the face like 13-14 times! I’m guessing the celebrity was probably a professional athlete. I know the security guard who was stabbed several times sued the celebrity and won a few hundred thousand dollars. Why didn’t the OP sue and get money due to being slashed so deeply on his forearm? I’m guessing there were definitely several NDA’s signed! IF the OP didn’t sue or sign an NDA, I would really like to know who the celebrity is! Anyone with me??? What a crazy night that must have been!

On the plus side, Let's Read uploaded, dog's still alive and I've got a six pack of warm beer with my name all over it!
Listening at work again. It always helps my time go by. xoxo Hello everyone in the comments! Hope your day is kick ass!
“I grabbed his knife hand” made me laugh so ridiculous hard
Why
The moral of the drunk rugby players story is...DONT GAMBLE.
To use the immortal words of Billy Joel..."You cant afford to squander what you're not prepared to pay."
1. Gaaaahd that “grinning man” story doth went on, 2. It was pretty funny
The story of the worst security guard ever
@@blainehancock yeah I had a hard time understanding the story. Sounded more like a made up creepy pasta rather than a security guard story 😂
True story.
It’s 4:20 am and my dog just started barking downstairs as I start watching this 💀💀

Gonna keep up with all your stories. They have been good.

If I want to take anything from the story about the college kid I would say don't gamble your college tuition away.. Lol😂
I listen to these every night! Really helps me sleep… thanks for your hard work man!
Welp, I am officially freaked out, after that tall man story. YIKES 😱 Thanks Lets Read 😊❤
41:14 worst security guard ever! A man smiles and says “hello there” and you start crying and faint? 🤦🏻♀️
Just while I was drawing you some birthday fan art!
Nice seeing you here @GenSen
StellaRiffic lol oh hey :)

U deserve more subs for this quality contents 😊😊
I shouldn't be listening to this just got my guard card and have interviews for some security jobs
That "smiling man" made me think of Freaky Fred from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Amazing as always 😊
YAYYYY! Just in time for dinner @Lets Read !!!
Your voice is my go to relax. Thanks! I needed this tonight!
He has one of the best voices I have ever heard. I would love him to narrate my textbooks. I would be really focused on English Lit then lol.
@@cornelia-vm1mz lol
“I thought this type of behavior was left behind years ago” imagine thinking sexism is a thing of the past ? Sksksksk
sadly there are some pockets of areas where such behavior is prevalent
Yen lmfaoooooo right? 🤦♀️
imagine feeling like you need to leave that comment 0.0
And then she says she hasn't worked bc she went straight to being a stay at home mom from college... Did she not realize obviously she wouldn't have experienced sexism in the workplace when she hadn't ever been in a workplace 🤦♀️ (not that there's anything wrong with being a stay at home mom tho)
Love your videos!❤❤❤
your voice is soooo relaxing. before, i need to drink sleeping aid for me to sleep better. now i dnt need it coz of you. ♥️
I love his narration
Really excellent reading, thank you. Good choices for tales too (despite my amusement at the overly dramatic “grin” man).
You know what I personally adore about your stories? If I want a slice of life, I come to you. And then what I super love as an added bonus? When you have a random story in the mix that makes you wonder if it's real... Or not? I hope you're enjoying the weather. Xoxo see you in the comments darling.
I love all his intros lol
In the second story this female security guard did nothing at all as they fought for the gun, not a single bit of help in trying to get the gun away. Then the first words out of her mouth was emotional manipulation. "I understand if you don't want to see me again." She wasn't consirned at all about that cops safety or wellbeing.
I love to see new Lets Read on my notification!!!!
So do I. I was debating watching this tomorrow for my birthday and I was like, "Hell nah" lol
@@cornelia-vm1mz hope you have a very happy birthday Cornelia 1722 ;)
Great video, thx!!
That’s so messed up she should be happy that she’s being harassed? What is wrong with some people I would have quit on the spot if my boss had that little respect for me and my safety
Love how the accent and voice changes
Perfect timing 👍
Omg I love your vids❤️
So do I...
The bell has rang... and it brought me here
Thanks for all your hard work 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice way to start my day...
Have a headache this morning. Nice to fall asleep too.
Great stories
I loved the stories and love his voice
Re: the guy in the last story - I think his reaction proves that he SHOULD become a cop. We need more police officers who understand and respect the power they wield rather than believing that their own safety is more important than everyone else's.
I'm a Security Guard. Great video
I always used to watch these types of videos and I've got back into it again, I just hop on minecraft and play an hour or anywhere up to 6 hours and play the game.
I know this is not the place to drop silly questions like this, but I have to
what would an insecurity guard be like?
Hiya from 2023! Love you UA-camJoel! 👍🤘Thank you! Thank you! ❤💚❤🎄❤💚❤😊
